To alleviate some of the crowding on Line 480, Foothill Transit developed a new express service by solely using 60 foot low floor articulated transit buses specially designed for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) (Gutierrez, 2006).
On March 18, 2007, line 707 Silver Streak was introduced and being funded by Proposition C, a voter-approved sales tax ordinance to provide overcrowding relief on specific bus lines (Foothill, 2012, p. 25). Line 480 was reduced to local service from Monclair to West Covina while the Silver Streak streamlined routing by utilizing the El Monte Busway and HOV lanes on the Interstate 10 freeway.
Foothill Transit's Silver Streak Line is Southern California's only 24 hour service from Montclair in San Bernardino County to Downtown Los Angeles (Foothill Transit, 2018).
These are the scenes from that afternoon.

I love your new look on the foothill
Like the sound it makes when it's on the freeway
I love watching your videos lot
We appreciate your enthusiasm and excitement in transportation. Our next transit episode will be an unedited full ride of Metro Line 950 this Monday. Please stay tuned.
It's my favorite ever since l was a little kid
I love the foothill lot man. It looks nice from in sade
Very nice ride along!
I've always wanted to ride the 707 thanks for the tour of the 707 and all its destinations!
Also at 1:14 it is very unusual for metro to put a rapid bus on a local line. And you also got a free ride too, hope I can ride that bus 😁
We rode Metro Rapid Line 728 a few months back and saw a Local Bus on a Rapid Line. It happens but you are correct it is unusual. We wanted to record a ride-a-long on Metro Rapid 734 but since you are based out there in the SFV, perhaps you can document that major line one day for all. Thank you for the comment!
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork Sure I can film line 734! I will start from its terminus at Expo/Sepulveda if that's ok
@@MFPTransitVideos, that would be fantastic. We hope other Transit Enthusiast would join you for that important ride-a-long.
The Metropolitan Network hopefully more will tune in. I've got some more ride alongs coming soon. I will film your request as soon as I can. I still have to film 750, and Big Blue Bus 45.
Take you time, no rush. Hopefully you got backers for your channel. We received donations from several subscribers to record former RTD Lines that are now OCTA Routes 701/721. We ended up recording OCTA Route 794 to complete the premium express series. When we are in another county or city, our team tries to record as much as possible.
Like your new bus flyer foothill
I love your foothill buses lot
It'll be cooler if Silver Streak combined with Silver Line. One long line from San Pedro to Montclair.
For $2.50 not a bad deal 👍
Really nice mi amigo👋👍
Really nice👍👍
Please check out OC Bus Fan on RUclips, that crew captured brand new New Flyer 60 footers Xcelsior classes on Line 707. It’s really breathtaking
Really cool bro
I really like the foothill bus lot
It's nice
59:37 Oh god I hate going up Kellogg Hill in any bus, but ESPECIALLY the 1600s. Start at 65 and you’re doing 28 most of the way up. It’s horrible.
Kellogg hill, a lot of transit history...
I like the foothill lot
All regional municipal agencies like Foothill are well operated. Support the local bus companies 🚌
👍
Good video bro really nice👍
Thank you very much.
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork your welcome bro
Good video my friend! 👍✌😎
Glad you enjoyed our latest transit episode!
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork i always enjoy new videos of differents buses! I like to know new places 👍✌😎
If you ever come out to Downtown LA again, OCTA Route 701/721 and MTA Line 460 Bus Stops are at Figueroa Street and Pico Blvd. The starting point of Foothill Transit Silver Streak is just around the corner on Flower/Pico. Thank you for your support in all things Transit.
@@TheMetropolitanNetwork thank you TMN, yes two weeks ago i went to Downtown LA, to record the route #721 and yes i saw that route! In Dowtonw LA there are a lot of buses . Thank you for the Info 👍✌😎
How there garen and blue
Your foothill bus it fast
Very nice video, I was surprised to see that broken farebox and you scored a FREE ride because of it! I was thinking if maybe you guys can record the entire Metro Silver Line from El Monte Station all the way to San Pedro?
A late Earth day complementary trip thanks to Foothill Transit. We are planing to record the entire Metro Silver Line 950 Route from El Monte to San Pedro unedited/uncut in the not to distant future. Thanks for reaching out in regards to this episode. We are currently dealing with losers aka “keyboard warriors” in regards to our other non transit episodes. Thanks for watching.
The Metropolitan Network I just stumbled upon this video of an OCTA bus driver refusing to accept a disabled TAP card, you can see it here:
ruclips.net/video/hbkKKB5WKCc/видео.html
It’s fairly common. I’ve had it happen a few times, so I just let people board for free and let dispatch know. Usually it fixes itself after a while. The fare boxes are old and shitty.
Free? good !
That can be can an Earth day ride. Thanks
What's up
What do you think of our latest Episode on Line 950?
