Omar Lopez well the thing is Matt bellamy plays all these instruments on his own music, one reason he wins is because he’s also a composer, brendon is a great musician but he only sings or Panic and therefore doesn’t have much of his own instrumentals

The 3rd Panuc album and most of the 4th Brendon recorded all of the instruments. The drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Theres a video called Brendon urie plays everything on this is gospel or something like that.

I love Reapers it has incredible guitar fills. But as a guitarist and a big fan of Muse since over a decade, it will sounds weird but trust me pay attention to it, Eternally Missed (espacially the solo is damn impressive). Animals and Glorious too are among the top guitar playing from Matt. And Knights Of Cydonia for sure! Lol

Matt has that constantly since Showbiz and he may be killing himself to get those high notes 10 years from now, but we know his voices full potential. And Urie has an amazing voice and a range higher than my future kkkk but I still prefer Matt’s voice, he’s Chest voice, his head voice and his falsettos are amazing and plenty of muse songs show us that! Brendon has great falsettos and screams but it seems just like that... scream

You could've used much better clips to represent Brendon, js. Matt as well. For example, on piano, you could've used something like "Intermission" as Brendon's.

After being a huge fan of both bands (and as such listening to basically all of PATD and Muse’s discographies) (Because honestly some of these clips don’t do either artist justice) it boils down to the fact that Brendon is really just a fantastic vocalist (and songwriter too but his compositional skills aren’t as good as Matt’s) whereas Matt is a skilled guitarist, vocalist, pianist, composer and with a nigh-unbeatable stage presence to boot.
-Songs like Bedroom Acoustics or Unintended showcase Matt’s Acoustic playing to be far better.
-His electric guitar playing is obviously leagues above. Not a guitar god such as Satriani or Tim Henson etcetera, but still a master of the instrument.
-His piano playing is arguably his best skill, with him being able to play Chopin and Rachmaninov, not to mention his own crazy composed pieces (Piano thing, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Space Dementia)
-His doesn’t have *quite* as much vocal range but he seems to be able to stay in that high falsetto quite comfortably (Songs like Micro Cuts is basically Matt opera singing, same with the Void just at the lower end of his range) So vocals would be the only thing Matt may have to give to Brendon. And that’s considering Brendon is JUST a vocalist.
To top it all off, Matt’s a musical genius when it comes to composing. He wrote a full 3-part symphony that sounds like nothing ever made before. Not to mention every other song in their lineup. He wrote the Hysteria riff which is considered one of the best baselines ever, along with the wide variety of different genres they cover. So undoubtedly Matt wins overall

I’m seeing mixed things here. I agree all the way that Matt ANNIHILATED Brendon, but Brendon is still incredible. The only thing I’m seeing that I have a slight problem with other than that is people saying Brendon is a WAY better vocalist and nobody comes close. If you say this then you haven’t hear nearly any Muse songs. Matt is one of the few people who come close to Brendon AT ALL.
It is very hard to judge tbh, because they play very different music and play the different instuments on different points in their songs

I probably sound like an obsessive fan or something, but give Panic! At The Disco‘s live performances a chance. Just because Brendon doesn’t record his range in the studio doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it.
Panic! helped me through a lot so I can get very protective when people talk shit about it.
Brendon doesn't HAVE to record everything by himself though, does he? He chooses to. He could bring in session musicians, or he could just let people like Dallon be part of the process, but he likes to work alone. It's not a burden on him.

@@ConradOsborn99 Reapers is in the damn video. And Bliss isn't played on piano, it's an automated arpeggio, he's just holding down simple chords. And any live performance where he's tried it he's fucked it up.
For my own opinion, Matt is better. Mainly because I don’t like Panic! very much. However, it’s a bit pointless to compare the two because they’re so different. Brendon is a much more vocal person, so with the piano and the acoustic guitar, it’s almost like it’s following along with his voice. Most new Panic! songs have very little instrumental, and when it does, it’s more or less there to follow his vocals rather than be it’s own separate entity. Matt is based in classical music and, with Muse, is very progressive, alternative rock. In those two genres, you can remove the vocals, and the backing instruments can almost be standalone.

I love both these guys and their bands but I'm sorry their really isn't a competition. Matt Bellamy's musicianship and compositional skills win out any day, he's been playing for longer ad his influences are much less contemporary and much more complex.
However, Brendon wins the voice category because he has clearly larger range and stronger high end, not to say Matt's control and range are bad by any means.
Much better Muse examples would have been Butterflies and Hurricanes/Sunburn/I Belong To You for piano, or MK Ultra/Survival/Reapers for guitar.

Fun fact: Brendon was actually brought into Panic! as a guitarist originally. Then they realized he could sing and he became the front man. I’m fairly certain I’ve heard he say he didn’t want to at first, which is insane to me. Honestly I think it’s a tie for this one. They’re both amazing musicians all around

For someone who doesn’t even “officially” play the bass, it’s pretty good. Also, he might be able to play more difficult songs, but it’s really hard to find videos of him playing bass so... And Idk if you’ve seen the video of him playing the “Plug in Baby” riff while jumping around in circle, with his guitar on top of his head, and still play it perfectly, but it’s pretty impressive!
I think the only thing Brendon trumps with is the drums, also I think you could’ve used a better piano clip for him, but ultimately of course Matt wins

While this video wasn't about singing I think you should look a little deeper into Brendon. He has a far wider range than Matt, and uses more of it with much more ease.
