While this is admittedly very goofy, at 2:19 he says that TE is getting whacky with the EP series, which tells me that they have more of these cooking which is super exciting. Hopefully they stay with the $300 price point because that feels like the sweet spot for this kind of instrument.
I can remember feeding David Munrow LPs into my Akai sampler in the 90s... I guess this is the machine for people who kind of want to do that, but really can't be arsed.
@@shadowaccount first I wasn't even trying to make a joke. I really thought it was named like this based on what I could hear until I checked it. Second, how frustrated are you on a scale from 97 to 100?
I hope they have several of these planned and the next one comes out very soon and is themed to something more universally tasty. I'll be getting this as I'm a big renaissance fan and it'll be a huge hit at some of the forest parties I attend but I don't see this one selling as much as the ii. but I love it!
There is absolutely ZERO reason for me to buy this... I don't even do anything with samplers, synthesizers, etc... but I'm totally going to get one (I'm so disappointed in myself).
Exactly what I thought. LIke wtaf. Are there people with enough interest in the sounds this offers? I mean, the "Medieval" genre has been fading for a few years now .... XD
Funny idea. Quite a niche though. For the same price you get the EW Fantasy Orchestra. Which is not for the stage of course. But on stage, most friends of that type of sound might prefer the real deal anyway.
Im honestly kinda pissed that the OG unit in the line of EP is now the one with the least memory, this wont go backward from now on! This just makes me want to sell my KO2 and get a new one that will eventually have more memory space for sample
Notice how the TE guy never mentioned one of the difference, or "upgrade" as he says, is one unit being 64mb and the other unit being 128. TE doesnt want the community to be mad at them for not putting the EP133 with more memory in the first place!
For the sound it’s unlikely cause the original koII / ep 133 only have 64mb of storage while this new one got 128 with the built in sample taking 96MB of storage so already more than the maximum for the og one
I mean. On TE website you have a Ko2 sample drag and drop. So surely there will be an option to be able to drag and drop the Medievil sounds on to the OG one? If you want some of them . Also I heard somewhere, I think it was a interview with the CEO discussing the OG Ko2 and he said that there is an unused chip inside the OG KO2 - surely it was left there for future updates of software so maybe they can have the new fx or arpegiator added to the OG Ko2… else what was the point in it But disappointing if not
This is absolutely absurd and ridiculous and I have no need for it. But it's so crazy and I love Medieval music and I WANT it!!!! I bought a KO II and only turned it on 3 times. lolol
Is TE for real with this? Why not update the ep-133 with this and bring out a better device. Imo its still quirky as the 1st one. I had it sold it. I need to say its fun, but i could not use it as a serious device. At least its customizable wit lego blocks 😂
And not just Kung Fu.... but the Series... as they were known for custom drums for their Foley effects. There's an episode of "show us your junk" where a guy collects them.
@Ancaja123 Earthquaker devices has a studio tour series called show us your junk. One of the tours highlighted modified drums used on the TV series Kung Fu with David Carradine
I am very new to this technology. Can you link it to an electric keyboard via a computer. Is there any software and means of saving the tunes? I am working in this area, but it's difficult if you have little background, so are there written instructions? So is it a serious thing or ust something for teenage backgrounds forDungeons and F, for example?
I am interested in this also. I enjoy the quirky sounds of the Medieval, but I was grateful I didn't purchase a KO II when it had so many issues that TE didn't seem to acknowledge. Also, I would like to know if the buttons are made like mechanical keyboards for computers (the letters/labels/designs are injected into a mould so they won't wear off with use like printed or painted keys would). Otherwise there is no point in me getting one as I wear off printed keys in a few months.
Wait, .. this is real? ... I love my KO2 but .... yeahhhh o.0 EDIT: The arp thing is cool and should be standard on instruments like this IMHO ... the fact that this has it but the KO2 doesn't is irritating BUT plugging in a Keystep solves that but still .... why not copy that chunk of code into the KO2's firmware??
finally, our prayers for a live bardcore machine have been answered (???)
finally (???)
hardcourtjester
I don’t know who was praying for this, but I’m super glad they did
next dnd sesh bouta go crazy
YES!
As a lutenist myself, this is the coolest thing since polyphony.

yeah I can't wait to pay $300 a pop for 1 new effect they will refuse to put on the original KO2..
I would assume they'd let you buy the sound packs from others in the series. They did say it could be used as a sampler I'm a medieval package.
what other flavors could there be
I can't wait for the bad gear episode on this one!
Its gonna be wild
that was my first thought :D oooh boy, that will be a good one
At first glance it ticks all the boxes
“At firsteth glimpse of thine eyes it merrily scribes ye parchment squares with thy quill!”
Don't you mean... bard gear
Dungeon Synth emerges from the underground into the mainstream.
I will get all the maidens in the village with this
I’m honestly impressed with these guys keeping up the act. World class performance. Cool cool very cool and interesting lol
I will say. As weird as this is. This is hands down the most unique design I've seen on a sampler. This will be in the history books without a doubt.
I can remember feeding David Munrow LPs into my Akai sampler in the 90s... I guess this is the machine for people who kind of want to do that, but really can't be arsed.
I cant be arsed with the sample clearances no need here
This thing is wild and I absolutely love the concept and attention to finer design details. Home run!
they just missed the crazy opportunity to call this the Midi-evil
loool
Thine hat is dothed for such a whimsical retort 🤣
Literally what I thought it was called, naturally, and was surprised to see it spelled normally lol
Lame stolen joke we've heard 100×. also that would have been predictable and cringe.
@@shadowaccount first I wasn't even trying to make a joke. I really thought it was named like this based on what I could hear until I checked it. Second, how frustrated are you on a scale from 97 to 100?
Fuck this shit, I was about done buying any kind of music gear, happy with my KO2, then they have to make this. I just ordered it. God damnit 😂
i'm making myself learn to use my friend's ko2 as a hard prereq for ordering 😭 but i want this so bad
Teenage Engineering have been getting high on their own supply and finally OD'd 😂
😆
😂 Gear4Music - more like TE smoked some gear before designing this. I dread to think what will be the next KO themed sampler.
Now they have to come up with a Renesaince version, a Bach version, that can only play "Das musikalische Opfer" backwards.
I’ve wanted something like this forever
I hope they have several of these planned and the next one comes out very soon and is themed to something more universally tasty. Teenage engineering must be the most innovative musical instrument company in the world.. Its brilliant to see such creativity ❤
Oh yeah exactly what I was waiting for 👀🤘
There is absolutely ZERO reason for me to buy this... I don't even do anything with samplers, synthesizers, etc... but I'm totally going to get one (I'm so disappointed in myself).
it’s one of those things that you didn’t know you needed in your life
It's given me the idea to put a folder on my SP404MK2 and sample medieval sounds into that. Thanks.
Dead Can Dance Rolling their Eyes
And Lisa Gerrard pucking.
Oh no they aren’t. They’re so much further. A live manifestasion of ‘Medieval’ to ‘Metaphysical’
I love it when someone just does whatever on earth they want 💯/💯
As a complete weirdo who aspires to create great folk metal, this novelty box is something I feel I need...
Is it April 1st somewhere?
I thought the same 😂
Nah man dungeon synth wizards are going to be all over this
Genuinely looked at the date when I saw the TE promo for this yesterday.
I kind of want one though
Exactly what I thought. LIke wtaf. Are there people with enough interest in the sounds this offers? I mean, the "Medieval" genre has been fading for a few years now .... XD
No! But it’s Medieval Week in Visby / Sweden
TE is diabolically trolling with this sound bank.
Just bought one here in Visby at the medieval week 🎉
Should have more stained glass
Staineth thy glass merrily I concur with thee
Funny idea. Quite a niche though. For the same price you get the EW Fantasy Orchestra. Which is not for the stage of course. But on stage, most friends of that type of sound might prefer the real deal anyway.
You could re-make the entire discography of The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud with this !
this is unbelivable, it looks like elaborated april's fool
shut up and take my money!
I hope they'll release an Industrial episode
this is wild, in a good way :D
Chocolate! Even though it didn't arrive to Europe until a couple of centuries later 😋
The cabbage-scented ones were backordered
seems fun!
made me chuckle
I will make some Zelda OOT covers as soon as I get mine !
I can see Wisp creating some madness with this one!
The only TE product I need.
Can't wait for Bad Gear episode on this.
A prequel was already uploaded.
If they had added Sd card readers then I would definitely be interested .
Exactly. For that price, that would be totally doable to have an SD card
Fits perfectly with all the crazy French and British kitsch Vampiric horror I have been watching lately. Wonderful ❤️ TE 👏.. Lego Technic too 🔥🔥🔥

So, Nathan Barley really did get a job as a synth designer at TE
Well plastic

Why not just update de ep133 with the arpeggiator and the sounds?

The chances of a Monty Python inspired band just increased ten-fold!
And also: the buttins should've smelled like coconuts or elderberries......
the knights who say "UNCE"
Who gonna be the first to be rocking one at a Ren Fest though.?

8:03 the arpeggiator is on many synths so for me I appreciated the non-arpeggiator on the ko2
Great for castelvania 👍
Chocolate was actually introduced to Europe after the Medieval period
“More of the medieval kind of thing” 😂😂

Why not just
Load up my KO with old a- samples from the 1500’s??? Lmao

The 1500s were already rather renaissance than medieval, though.
Great Philip Glass at about 8:51.

Medieval Europe did not have chocolate. You'd think TE would bother to fact check this before making it a gimmicky feature of this device?
Yeah we see you wiggling those keys

They added a sample pack and give you less available user memory (32mb vs 64mb). This is just a cash grab for their fanboys
Have they fixed the overly tight fader knob yet?
And it still has the same memory?
Wait, the fucking knobs smell like chocolate?!
The brown keypads do
Meanwhile the KO2 is still in desperate need of essential features, here’s a new one with an arp…
A fool is easily separated from there money.
Ahhh gotta go back to 1320 just to have an arpeggiator??
