Everyone going apeshit over the fact it's got the scatter/kaoss stuff in it but the fact the sequencer isn't locked to 4 or 8bbars and is more like an arranger workstation is...that's worth the price in this clip based ridged abstract song creation tools on hardware trends we are in now.

    • @nebula0697
      @nebula0697 Год назад +2

      @@lorrenaelliott161 True that all modern samplers should have onboard mic and polyphony which Circuit doesn't. However, the whole paradigm of Circuit is to do away with the screen, it's one of the main reason people love them and they've done a great job with clever use of color and encoders, you get quite sophisticated feedback. The whole TE paradigm when they include screens is to include a screen that's actually fun to look at, like a game - seems like it's expensive to design and build. This thing could easily cost 400 and people would still find it inexpensive I'm guessing.

    • @PaulSpades
      @PaulSpades Год назад

      @@nebula0697 The problem with the circuit was never the lack of screens, it's: the very limited track number; skitzofrenic knob functions; and complete lack of creative effects. This thing seems like it has the hearth of a volca sample with the po-33 fun and a really playable form factor. Id's say its biggest competitor is elektron's model:samples.

And then *boom* this suddenly popped up. So far, it is ticking all the boxes.... SO I bought it and actually saved a few quid over the SP. And unlike the SP, I can see myself having a lot of fun with this and not getting a headache over too many button press combos and menu dives - this seems considerably more intuitive. I also feel like it does all the main bits that the OP1-Field does that I want, without the others that I'm less interested in because I already have other devices covering those aspects. Yay! In my history with portable internally powered instruments like this, it's the lack of clear sequence editing that eventually lands them in a drawer gathering dust. Yes, you can make some great beats but trying to write a real song that then can be ported out to finish on a DAW for example looks like it would be extremely excruciating. To me the company who has really nailed this is Novation with their Circuit tracks and Circuit Rhythm. Not as pretty as this for sure but extremely portable and you can analyze, modify, and most of all visualize your sequences better than an MPC. As incredibly stunning to look and probably a blast to hang out with for a while I would think this will end up gathering dust after the initial excitement wears off.

      @@aariccallahan7371 the truth is shipping an electronic hardware product is one of the hardest things you can do in business, whether you're a giant like Nintendo or a pipsqueak like T.E. you need a lot of startup capital, it's a ton of time and work, and if your product doesn't sell you could lose an absurd amount of money or even go belly up. it's why Panic's Playdate console is $200 for what is essentially a gameboy with a grayscale Memory LCD (it's still cool imo.) they're a 25-person software company, they don't have the economies of scale to play in the consumer-priced electronic goods market with the giants. it's high stakes for them.
      with hardware you have to play the top of market until you get a strong enough footing to start playing in the realm of actually affordable stuff, where you need to move a lot of units. i think T.E. has been essentially playing the long game, slowly building up their "strength" by selling to the top of the market at low scale with a giant profit margin, and this is their first real gamble on selling to the regular consumer market. i think they are going to succeed because their stuff is really cool, it's just ridiculously expensive. people like me have wanted TE shit for awhile but never been able to justify it, besides the P.O. 33 - $300 is a very fair price for this imo.
      hopefully this is the start of them coming out with more mid-market stuff, the type of stuff that actual musicians who aren't already rich and famous can afford. i have enough money to buy an OP-1 and i still just can't justify it. it's so expensive, and for...what? at the end of the day it's a music tool, but it's an opinionated multi-tasker that puts you in its little limited world - which makes it more of a music toy or plaything, to make stuff within its little ecosystem. that's cool and all, but i'm not paying 2000 damn dollars for that, when all the tools for me to really seriously pursue my art form are significantly cheaper. it's a toy for rich kids and musicians that are already successful. if you really need to lay down keys on a production, are you going to reach for the $2000 machine with two octaves of toy keys? when you can spend $500 to get a full 88-key midi keyboard with real hammer action that feels like a piano? the EP-133 is one of the first ones that actually makes sense to me beyond "once i'm a millionaire i'll get the Lamborghini Urus, then after that, i'll get the OP-1..."

      I think since this is the "ep series" they WILL introduce a synth like one with some sort of op1 style synths in it... at least a tb 303 or something even

    Very tempting. I need to expand projects because my Keystep Pro is full and the software to save requires a computer. 9 projects on this isn't enough but there's probably a way to save those. I don't see a card slot. Scenes and 4 tracks resemble KSP. Would be nice to have a good sampler like this. Great demo, TY!

    Lately I was about done with TE and their quite interesting but overpriced product. And then, they drop this "One more thing..." moment that leave everybody flabbergasted! THIS is what TE is all about. It's simply beautiful in all is aspects!

    Looks really good. Super interesting to have a larger form factor device that doesn't cost a bundle. I hope they will create some other groovebox / synths in this form factor.

    For me, this is a game changer. I have a SmplTrek from Sonicware, I had a PO33 (sold because of limitations), but live playing on the PO series is just so fun! Now I just have to sold the Smpltrek, the new EP133 is just what I was wating for ! A real live sampler with memory and the famous Punch'in fx ! Sequencing with bar (with the screen) is a cool improvement, this lil' monster make me electrised !

    £300 is a good price I think. Why only 64MB though? Maybe it's a more expensive type of storage or it's actually RAM, to allow more manipulation abilities. It looks good fun. I don't have a problem with TE being a designer product that's hip. I got the OP-Z. The shitty buttons make it _almost_ pointless but it's still fun.

    The only thing kinda annoying is that you have to press shift and time for loop. This should be vice versa. Loop is more often used than timechanges I would guess... Could be really challenging to not tap in a new tempo while jamming with looping...far from this I'm already sold to this little gem!!!
