I'm South African and this is the truth. South Africa has a population of almost 60 million. Less than 4 million white people are left in South Africa. 93% of South Africa population are African. Orania has less than a 100thousand residents. The area they inhabit is smaller than any east rand town in Gauteng. Those white people aren't bothering anyone or any other culture. They are literally living in the middle of South Africa in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town is almost 3 hours drive away. There are no jobs left for Africans. They do not need Africans. They are completely self sustainable. They do not need South Africa nor any African. Orania is for everyone. Orania is privately owned. Orania has the right to choose it's citizens. You won't find any white people in any major black community in South Africa so it's basically the same thing.

I am black and I have stopped at Orania several times at their OK mini supermarket for food. I didn't feel any discrimination, It was actually quiet the opposite than what it's painted by the media. People were very friendly. Lot of people who are complaining about that town, wouldn't survive there. It is in middle of nowhere in Northern Cape, the closest towns are De Aar and Kimberley, which they are both -/+2 hours drive away. I respect them. They're building for themselves, they're not waiting for government to save them..We can learn a thing or two from them.

As a black South African, I don't see anything wrong with Orania, because it is in the middle of the nowhere, I wouldn't live there. Also there are several places like Zulu only hostels, where only Zulu men stay, it's not desctrimination but people prefer to associate with their own. I wish we can have more communities of like minded people who work hard towards their town instead of looking at the unreliable government for assistance.

Most people don't want to live in or visit Orania, it's not even on a busy national or provincial road. It's a remote town, nothing is going on there, and it's far from everything. In South Africa, there can only be mayors of cities and municipalities, not mayors of small towns or villages. Since mayors represent the government and this is a private development, Mr. Strydom serves as CEO of Orania rather than mayor.
Orania is a rural town, and rural areas are typically divided into local municipalities and districts. A municipality may have multiple towns and villages under its territory, and the municipalities of Thembelihle and Pixley ka Seme district represent Orania. The mayor of Thembelihle is a Black man named Mr. Leonard Makena. The town he's supposed to serve is off-limits to him as well.

As a Black person I adore self sufficient and self reliant people.
They are building the nation for their descendants. It's beautiful .
Even where I am from, our circuit allows ONLY our tribe to buy land and stay there. Every other tribes or races could visit but not allowed to be permanent residents as long as they are not part of our tribe. If you do something wrong, you and your entire family may be outcasted out of our circuit.

The Ingonyama Trust is a corporate entity established by the KwaZulu Legislative Assembly as a repository for the communal land of the Zulu Nation with His Majesty the King as the sole Trustee. In 1997 the democratic National Parliament of the Republic of South Africa amended this Act, so that it is consistent with modern constitutional order. This amendment involved changes to all sections of the Act by way of the KwaZulu - Natal Ingonyama Trust Amendment Act 9 of 1997. This Act established the Trust Board appointed by the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development following a consultative process with the KwaZulu - Natal Premier, Executive Council and the KwaZulu - Natal Provincial House of Traditional Leaders. The King remains the sole Trustee and he (or his nominee) chairs the Board.
The Trust Board is tasked with the responsibility of administering the Trust and Trust land for the benefit, material welfare and social well-being of the Zulu nation, who continue to occupy the land as they historically have done.[1] The Trust owns 29.67% of the land in KwaZulu-Natal, which is equivalent to 28,000 square kilometres, or 10,811 square miles.[2]

Orania does NOT state you must be a WHITE Afrikaner - they say an Afrikaner with Calvinist views. They do NOT say WHITE anywhere! Total BS by that narrator! they are very much like an Amish community. If you go into the Ngonyama Trust, you will find exactly the same thing, just Zulus (who happen to be all Black). There is no uproar from anyone about this. PS. there are Coloureds (minority) there too so its not all WHITE! This inconvenient fact is never mentioned - I wonder why not???? I am not an Afrikaner with Calvinist views so I could not live there either (I am WHITE) Can you live in an Amish community???? Same thing! Orania exists on private land so right of entry is reserved. Orania is not like swaziland or Lesotho, they are part of South Africa BUT far away from anywhere else - literally in semi arid unpopulated area. Nobody lives there besides them because the land is considered worthless by everyone else. The only interest in the land there now, is that land which belongs to Orania, which has been developed by the Oranians themselves! Lastly, APARTHEID, as envisaged by Hendrik Verwoed - the architect of Apartheid whose statue is there - was meant to be separate BUT equal. This last part was not done by the ensuing Afrikaner Government who used Black labour to do all the menial work. The Oranians believe in doing all the work themselves and not being dependant on anyone else. Many Black South Africans have a problem with this aspect as they believe they are not being given the opportunity of jobs. Essentially, Afrikaners believe in their own independance and is why they went on the Groot Trek in the first place (to get out from under the yoke of the British who imposed their laws upon them). Oranians believe in their own independance and preservation of their own culture (Racism is NOT part of that culture). They are also willing to help others in establishing their own settlements, if they are asked. They ARE succeeding where the rest of RSA is not, which is what has lead to this enmity towards them!

We live with whoever wants to live with us and they made it clear that it’s whites only town so we don’t care. South African people who are bothered by Orania suprise me. They are living their lives separate from other people because they want to preserve apartheid. They just realised that the time for them being masters was over and they couldn’t stand. Generation for generating electricity ⚡️. Transmission for transmitting electricity. And distribution for distributing electricity ⚡️.
On the first of july 2024 the first phase of unbundling was completed separating transmission from eskom and being and independent company, now Orania will have an “easy” access in selling the electricity they generate from their solar farm to transmission company..

I do have mixed feelings and thoughts about this Orania issue, at the first instance, I hate that it is racial segregation, point blank! At second glance and my other opinion in regard to this place, we do need to have communities such as this, not necessarily based on race or even ethnicity, but common purpose, ideals and objectives! If there were to be such a community, I would not mind to be a part of it! Firstly, with the moral decay thay we face here in South Africa, a community where morality is prioritised, you can count me in! Secondly, the rule of law, I think we have veered so far off the rail in that regard, and it has become a norm, that explains the prevalence of crime that we, the law abiding citizenry is exposed to on a daily bases! I just think there is more than meets the eye here! I no longer look at things with the same eye as I did when I was in my 20's and 30's! I am more receptive to a lot of things these days, so an Orania type of community is what I can accept!
