Starting off with a Entry music piece, the dance continues with Upaj and Thaat followed by Padan Aamad and Tehai, Chakardaar Padan ,Parmellu ,Padan ,Bedam Farmaishi Tehai .Ending is endowed with Ladhi and Chakkar Ka toda .
Kathak is a traditional dance originated from uttar Pradesh, India. kathak means katha / story.
Kathak dancers tell a story through their dance.

I am a Hindustani classical vocalist and I have been learning for quite a while and I have also learnt carnatic vocal in my younger days. It definitely takes lot of commitment and practice to master.

Having just come back from a flamenco performance in Spain I can see where the influence comes from clear as day. Kathak is truly the early flamenco.
Looks more like Tai Chi and Kung combined with moronic repetitive hand movements like holding an invisible tray with drinks than flamenco.

@@katerinapatiniotis5598 you know she is telling a story through it right? there are many hand gestures which combine to tell stories. This form of purely Hindu form of arts originated some 4000years ago through the Sama Veda and Natya Shastra. Flamenco is born out of this dance only, even ballet has clear influences from Kathak.

While watching it i even failed to notice when I began tapping my fingers on table in synchronization of beats and tapping my foot on floor accordingly. This is what happens when you encounter a totally blissful and mesmerizing performance that you tend to forget your surrounding, situation and people in the background. Kudos!

Compliment from one dancer to another. Excellent mastery, anga shuddhi(a term used in dance to describe perfect body control, clean and neat execution of every movement) and nalinam (grace).
The speed of movements was precise and excellent. Fantastic performance.
The spot on movement of legs with fast tabla beats and ragas and the full swings 360 at last and ending it with a standstill is so difficult. Highly Appreciable. Its definitely worth to pay a ticket for these shows.

Kindly fire your camera guy. Please understand that in such dance performances we need to constantly observe the performer from head to toe in a single frame always. Unwanted closeups of face or legs just breaks the flow and ruins the dance for audience like me.

I’m sorry but while watching this, my jaw dropped so hard. You are so good at Kathak and as a kathak dancer my self… I can tell that you needed to do extreme levels of practicing to get to this point. Seriously, your dancing is sooo on beat and each and every movement is literally the definition of perfection. Your my idol from now on. I hope a become that good at kathak one day too. I know it’s easy to say these things but it is gonna be hard as hell to be that good. You’re truly an amazing dancer.
