This is amazing! My husband Fred and I went to Howard’s the night before our wedding. Funny story - we were both pooped on by birds as we were walking inside. We had to ask for directions to the restrooms to get cleaned up. All the staff just carried on about how our experience was such good luck (?), especially considering our impending wedding. That was in April, 2010 and we’ve happy since. Oh, and our meal was magnificent as usual at Howard’s. 💕
That's quite a funny story. I've had a seagull hit me on the beach before, but I don't think we've ever had it happen going into a restaurant. We were also married in April, but in 1993. We actually ate at Howard's on our honeymoon night, except that it was located more downtown then. It was not at its current location.
The steak for two was not a bad deal. We have not eaten here before but think we may try it to get the steak for two deal. I want my baked potato hot. Love it when the potato comes to my table with steam coming out. The outside seating looked nice and relaxing. Thanks for bringing us this awesome review!
Thank you all for watching. The outside seating area is really nice. Just make sure when they bring the steak out, that it is cooked the way you want it. I know David has rightfully mentioned that some places overcook your steak when you order it medium. You'll have to watch for just the opposite here. But it was an overall good experience. We're going to be back up there next weekend for the hike, and we'll be reviewing a steakhouse in Townsend, that was really good the first time we tried it. Hope it's still the same.
Thanks for sharing. Wow, I hate we missed the opportunity to possibly bump into you two. We have been bit by the steak deal, so we now always order well. Once in a blue moon we really get well done, but we mostly get medium well. After having the same scenario yall did here, we don't risk that any longer. Hope yall have a great time while your down. We got home Saturday evening in Florida and the humidity clobbered us. The catch of living near the beach. We definitely enjoyed the cool mornings and pleasant days. Be Blessed and safe travels
Thank you so much for watching, and for commenting. Glad you found it helpful. There are a few other pet friendly restaurants in town, too...Mellow Mushroom, The Jimmy's, Five Guys, etc. All these have outside dining areas.
Was so excited to see that y’all had tried this restaurant and made a video about it! I also agree with you about the pet friendliness! It is so nice and I wish that more did it!
Howard's Restaurant is actually considered a steakhouse. The steak would have been steakhouse quality, had it been cooked correctly. And I definitely agree, that bread should have been offered with the meal.
We've only done 1 review there, but it is the Cherokee Grill. We both got prime rib that visit, however. Here is the link...ruclips.net/video/Ijz8DCecB7U/видео.htmlsi=RPUcdLXiMctN9Icr
Thank you for reviewing Howard’s. I’ve wanted to try it before but it’s always so hard to choose when there’s so many restaurant choices and we’re only there for a few days. I loved the patio, off the main drag nice and quiet.
I love your videos! You are such wonderful people. The worst steak meal we ever had in Gatlinburg was at Howard's. And I think the worst part of THAT was that the staff/management did not care. AND we are NOT complainers at all but when you pay $$ for a meal it should be really great imho. Keep on keeping on y'all! God bless you.
Thank you for watching and for commenting. I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. We don't have any complaints about the waitress that took care of us, but the food wasn't cooked to order. I agree with you, that for that money it should be the way you want it. Thank you for your kind words.
Where do you two choose to stay when you visit Gatlinburg. Like tonight, when you got in late & went to Howard’s? We live in Western NC & go over there regularly but haven’t found a go to hotel yet. Not a super high end type hotel, just a regular, clean, quiet stay. We’re going over the last week when Buc-ee’s opens on the 26th.
We have been going to the same place in Gatlinburg for our entire marriage. It's a little motel outside of town, called The Sleepy Bear. The few times we have stayed somewhere else in Gatlinburg, is at the Mountain House Inn, behind The Village. But it is usually the Sleepy Bear. In over 30 years, we've never had one cleanliness issue there.
First, many TNX further down for answering my question on the best steak in Pigeon Forge. A plus for Howard's on being dog friendly. Unfortunately, the URL on the window sticker is now kaput. Those steaks looked great. But, if undercooked? I really liked this review. God Bless!
Yeah, that wasn't really the right word. It came out before I thought about it. I think "calming" would have been a better word. I realized how it sounded the minute I said it.
usually the food is great there every time we have been there but you can always have a bad experience anywhere but we haven't been there in over a year great video
Thank you for watching. It wasn't really a bad experience, but there were just a couple of things that could have been better. We really did like the outside dining atmosphere, but her steak was really undercooked.
Other steak houses in Gatlinburg that are better. Send it back is bad enough.....but when you get it back, it is warmer but not cooked more......rather cold baked potatoes? No, I sure wouldn't go back! Thanks and God bless
Yes, there are other steakhouses we like better. We wanted to go back here and try the steaks in order to compare it with those. The baked potato wasn't cold, per se. It just wasn't as hot as it should have been, either. I would say it was warm enough to eat, but not warm enough to melt the extra butter. We certainly can't rate it as the best in town, but we did like the outside atmosphere on the creek. But yes, her steak was really undercooked. Normally, she wouldn't even say anything, but the middle of it was pretty red.
That was nice that you could have your pets with you. I don't know if we could do that with our boxer Molly. She would be begging off of everyone else there. I can't quite understand sending the steak back. I like it rare. I used to tell them to knock his horns off, wipe his butt and run him out here. But my wife told me I couldn't do that anymore.😀
Well, if you like it rare, then you wouldn't want to send it back. But since we both prefer ours medium, it just wasn't cooked quite enough. And her steak was really cool towards the middle, and not warm at all.
I assume that you are referring to the menu before we put the flashlight on it. It may have been clear, but it was very low light out there, and neither one of us see very well in low-light and small print. We've had issues before, with menus not coming in clear in those conditions. I wanted to make sure everyone could see it. Thank you for watching and letting us know that it came in clearly. We haven't even had a chance to watch it yet.
It’s a shame your dinners were not what you were expecting.A good steakhouse should make sure the cook knows how to cook a steak properly. Hopefully when you go back again you will have a better experience.
Surprised they did not take something g off the bill and I would have asked for the manager just to let him know the what you told us ! Also of course say the waitress was great etc ! They could have given you a gift card for next time to make up for it !
We probably could have done that, but we really only do that for a bad experience. We couldn't really say this was a bad experience, but just that the steak was a bit undercooked. It was still flavorful. I did do that when we reviewed The Angus in Calabash, North Carolina. That steak was terrible. I asked them to take half of the bill off, but I think they took 30% and sent me of with another steak, which was better.
I have 5 small rescue pups! I definitely appreciate pet friendly places! Love everything y’all share with us! Y’all are the very best! ❤️😊🙃🐾🐾
@@laurieyates6439 Thanks so much for that kind comment. It means a lot to us. We appreciate you watching!

Thank you for sharing this video. I am always on the lookout for pet friendly restaurants and hotels in Gatlinburg. Blessings.

We agree, on the pet-friendly aspect. This is one area where this restaurant excels. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Our motto is if you want a good steak, go to a steak house. Bread should come with a dinner. Nice to have a view and your pet.
Howard's Restaurant is actually considered a steakhouse. The steak would have been steakhouse quality, had it been cooked correctly. And I definitely agree, that bread should have been offered with the meal.

Nice outside sitting area next to the stream.

Hopefully, the undercooked part, is just that incident and not a regular thing. We'd definitely be willing to try them again.
😂 so that river was comforting I'm sure ya'll enjoyed the atmosphere I needed that laugh this morning
