I used to work at a climbing gym and you guys did great! Y'all climbed further than I see a lot of people start off, including me who could barely get on the wall in the beginning!
Being myself a climber and looking to a lot of climbing videos, this is for sure the best I've ever seen! great job guys ! When I see how I sometimes struggle with some moves being skinny, I can not imagine how diffucult it is with your weight. Big respect for this guys, you can be proud of you ! Hoping to see one day an other video of you in a climbing gym.
I lost 60 lbs within 7 months when I started climbing. I got addicted and to this day, go 4 times a week to the gym or outside climbing. You guys did great and I hope it wasn’t too hard to keep you from doing it more. It’s one of the best activities you can do for health and it’s fun! Good job and great video!
I have a similar story. I wasn't overweight or anything (maybe a little) but I had gotten really sedentary during lockdown and started climbing. Got addicted like you and ended up getting a pretty athletic build.
Y’all killed those first routes! I started climbing almost a year ago and I still have moments where I’m like “I can’t do it”. I have PCOS and have battled my weight my whole life, but climbing has definitely helped me start to get into shape. Awesome job y’all!!!!
"like croissant?" you guys are so funny 🤣 i've been rock climbing since april 2022 and i often have suspicions that me being overweight makes it harder then my normal bmi peers (feels like i'm hauling up a bag of bricks lol) and thus sometimes makes me insecure, but you guys are so inspirational!! sometimes i really am afraid to go out and do things simply because of my weight so i'm gonna check out some more of your videos for inspo!! makes me feel more powerful and confident! hope this channel blows up it's such a great concept!!
New here! Content like this is SO motivational. I love that you guys are out there pushing yourselves out of your comfort zone and working with what you got!
You two are a couple of Pirates of the Carabiners! Just be a little boulder and you’ll get the hang of it. The video is a cliffhanger till the end but I’ll spoil it and say Mavericks closer was the best!!!
lost all my covid weight doing this sport, its fantastic and both of you where very natural. That breathing btw is what happens when you zone in. its how your body will sound with no filter all effort. well done from aus
An excellent climbing session. Please keep at it! Some of us are assholes just like with any community, but most climbers are chill and just love seeing people succeed. If not even for the physical aspect, think of it like a puzzle that you get to figure out and put together with your body. It's a great mental challenge, and the focus I personally experience while climbing is like nothing else, and I hope it's like that for others. Great video! Hope you guys keep making videos!!
Well done - when I see heavy people at the bouldering gym I always think - ‚And some people are afraid to go to the gym… we’re you just have to stay on the floor‘ - so massive respect
I keep trying to tell people that climbing is an inclusive sport. Thank you for helping to show that Edit: although when you go again, harnesses should be removed before you do bouldering!
Thanks for posting this! I'm planning on going to a climbing gym that just opened up near me. I typically don't see people that look like me in a lot of these videos. Keep up the good work!
not gona lie this gives me confidence, Im a pretty big guy, still workout, but I am a bit nervous to climb since all my friends are a lot skinner than I am
You guys did so well! I honestly love to see people around the climbing gym that aren't exactly "fit". I have such a huge level of respect for people trying to better themselves. I think the "Fun but very difficult" you said in the end of the video is incredibly important for getting into shape. If it's not difficult it won't really help you, if its not fun it's hard to get motivated to keep doing it and it's just not sustainable no matter how strong-willed you are. You guys should try going regularly. Even if its only one route a session the way you did in the video I think you'll see some incredible results. Maybe try bouldering more though. There are easier bouldering routes than the one you tried and since they're shorter you can do more climbs and always try to do something a little harder, getting a sort of a goals / progression thing going (which idk about you guys but for me that sort of thing is highly addictive)
If you keep climbing you guys might have to change your channel name! Great work, I just started climbing about 2 months ago and I'm completely addicted
ya we are definitely going to run it back again! We had so much fun! we have had alot of people share how much they love climbing and how much it has helped them. It was super fun to try!
@@fatguystrystuff If you do decide to get into it, I would recommend getting a padded harness so that you don't have to use the rental ones. Rental works fine for me since I'm only 180lbs, but if you're 350+ I bet the harness didn't feel good at all
What do you both weigh? Bc i’m smaller but I know I would struggle with that first rock climb! You guys killed it! 🙌🙌 can’t wait to see what you try next
Hahahaha we are both somewhere near 350 depends on how much we eat that day. lol. Thanks for tuning in and we will be trying lots of stuff in the future!
Ive been trying to peg my buddy who has obesity issue for yrs to try wall climbing bcz he had been trying all methods to lose weight yet didnt turn out well, but he insisted that the wall will collapse if he climbs😂 but i told him not to let his weight get in his way & by trying wall climbing he can lose weight much faster. ive been trying to look for videos to prove him wrong & im so thankful for ur inspirational videos bcz when i sent this to him, he was so impressed that he immediately followed me as a guest climber the day after i sent him this clip🤗😎btw u guys climbed so well even as fat beginners🎉🎉keep it up guys!!
@@fatguystrystuff oh yes he did & im really happy for him🙏tbh, when i 1st got introduced to wall climbing, i wasnt as flexible as u guys as i was struggling with acrophobia & basophobia, so i was really stiff & sluggish on the wall, i cudnt even finish the easiest route, u guys really rocked it🤩 u guys really changed perceptions & made a difference, continue to make inspirational videos like this & most importantly, believe in urself no matter what kind of labels are thrown in ur way🙏
Super proud of you guys. I agonize over shaving ounces off my gear weight on long climbs and I'm pretty sure I would've wimped out on the first wall you climbed if I were wearing a weight vest. The first two times are the worst for arm pain (I still get "the claw" on my first couple post-winter climbs at 120 lbs) so that part will get better if you ever want to climb on a regular basis
Comment if ya enjoy what ya see - so here I am. First video for me. Will be sharing your channel with the family and friends Always tell folks, if ya can get up 1 flight of stairs = you can climb. ( bc some tried pulling the, I can not walk up a flight like others do ) More impressed with the willingness to be seen on the second route. Gyms generally introduce all new folks on these routes, meaning they are generally the slickest holds in the place and everyone over 5', from long time climber and overhanging route climbers = we all get spit off that 2nd route. ( more then any other routes we can climb ). Very much enjoyed seeing your willingness and the mentality/ strength you have both displayed. Hug's Be honored to share time with either of you, ding whatever. ( be forewaned though, occasionally, will invite ya to come climb some more with fmriends and indoors and outside. ) Ya all definitely have what it takes.
Im gonna go climbing a wall in 2 weeks and as a 12yo who weight 77kg this is a nightmare PLEASE HELP ME GUYS I CANT CLIMB A WALL I CAN NOT EVEN LIFT MY SELF LIKE PUBERTY STILL DID NOT HIT THAT HARD (Except for height and voice) AND I DONT WORK OUT!
Hello Ru, What I love about climbing the most = it is not like any other sport I was ever in. Weight gyms, activities..... around climbers. I mean Climbers.. not everyone at a wall going uo stuff qualifys for that term. We another there to compete against others. Only competition is against ourself and our own thoughts. Meaning, with practice = We get to set the rules and expectations for our Self. Kids especially ( visitors to the walls ) can be rough at times with what is said and claimed. Does not make it true. Climbing = try this, right where your sitting while reading this. Put your hands out. Straight out. Raise em a little so ya do not hit the computer. Grab an imaginary hold with your left hand. Pull it towayou without bending your arm or moving backwards. Turn at the hips. As ya pull back with the left arm, twist so your chest comes to your left arm. Right arm just went farther out didn't it. Try this again in a open doorway. Feet planted, left hand holding the door jamb. Both arms out. Twkist so your chest is pulled to your left arm while your right hand is pushed forward thru the door opening. Grab a hold with your right hand, twist again so your chest is pulled to your right arm and left is propelled up again. Every hold, on a wall.Bring the feet up before thinking of grabbing the next hold. Got your feet up ( like a Frog where possible, bent leg or legs.... stand up. As ya stand uo and want to grab the next hold, Twist at the waist. Keeping your arms as straight as you can the entire route. Breathing is the true secret. We all hold our breathe without realizing it, as so9m as the first foot rises off the floor. Breathe, every single move, breathe again. We can also ask our belayer = Hey, I want to go a couple moves up the wall and sit in my harness. Do it again... get on the wall and drop into the harness. This is how we all learn to trust the equipment and our belay. Hands steady us. Stand up, get new hands.... drop back on straight arms and move the feet up. FROG STANCE, Push with the legs to move ourselves up. Twist to move the arms up. Don't have to hold any tighter then we do on a handrail when walking. Holds are only there to steady us

We were gassed after one route. Thanks for watching!

That ‘‘twas very punny!
Huge respect, I find bouldering super challenging bc of my size but I keep doing it because of things like this.
It was tough! Keep going!

Brandon still showing the world that the Scheidel calves are a thing of beauty. Even at 345 they look like they were created by Michelangelo.

Let’s go! Thanks for the support and kind words!
“This is supposed to be the easiest size!”

It was really fun!
athletic adipose
That word is not part of our vocab Big Shep! Thanks I guess? hahaha
natural born athletes!
big facts!
It doesn't matter in which grade you are climbing. The most important thing is THAT YOU ARE climbing! I think Alex Honnold once said that.
Wise words!

Imagine putting your life and health at risk just to make money on a crappy RUclips channel… and I’m not talking about the climbing.
Their channel isn't monetized. No money making going on.
