Best bang for your buck with President is the Richard. I have one and it is awesome! 50 watts out of the box, but when you access the engineer menu you can adjust the deadkey and modulation. I had mine doing 40 watts deadkey on high, with 85 watts swing. I have it turned back down now, and it does an amazing job driving my KL503 HD.
also future reference.. length of the videos don't matter to most I'd say.. for informational vids.. as long as it takes to give a good info test.. I think most would b fine with em like these types of vids!! myself would love to see all options available on radios!! thanks again rooster!! 73s
I like the long video. I’m awaiting delivery on this radio so it’s nice to watch and see all the features so I have somewhat of a clue what everything is. Great walkthrough.

How did you get such good modulation? I just bought one and it has nowhere near the swing for modulation I’ve gone into the service menu turned it up and it doesn’t work. Did you remove the limiter? I even turned up power output and it only puts out 12 watts deadkey
Hey I'm having trouble with my Ronald CB. I've been through the manual but can't figure it out so figured I'd ask here. I've got a PA hooked up that I've tested on another radio and it works fine, but with the Ronald when I key on the mic with volume all the way up and mic gain all the way up and PA Setting set to 'PA' (not 'In'), the radio automatically switches to standard transmit instead of letting me speak through the PA. Any idea what I'm missing? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I have that same exact radio. And I can honestly say for the price of the radio and the options and features it has I don't think you can find another radio on the market that can beat it. For example you have TalkBack Echo frequency counter 7 different light colors high power and also extra channels just to name a few of the options. You're not going to get all of that out of a cobra not knocking a cobra but I'm just saying. Now however the radio will run a little warm so I recommend running a small fan on the heat sink in the back. Oh yes not to mention slwr as well. And I also found out if you run a road devil microphone it's best to run it in electric version on the microphone setting. Because the road devil sounds a little hot running in it in regular mode. Oh yes I heard you mention in the video about the range. I hook mine up to the base once in awhile and I get out at least 25 to 30 miles with no problem. In the car it will do anywhere between 15 maybe 20 at best
I run an old cobra 19 in my Tacoma and when people see it they laugh, but it will absolutely scream. If I didn't have the 19 I'd. Consider one of these or a McKinley

Ive had 2 of these radios and they both did the 40 watts out of the box but absolutley no swing no matter where the rf power was set

Seems a Texas Star amp would like that radio. 2 watts DK swinging to 20+ PEP would work well.

Electret is pronounced like Elec-treat. The mic gets it power from the radio on one of the pins. =)
Great review. What size fuse is in this radio? I'm a truck driver, can I use a Astatic noise cancelling mic or a Roadking 56?
