Good simple information. Gotta say I love growing random seed, I do buy seed as well. Random seed requires a good eye. Checking the leaf shape and being aware of the very moment when budding begins. I generally use a shotglass every other day during seedling stage. Switched to a drip ring recently and water periodically throughout the day during Veg. If you can get a decent pump, the drip ring is the way to go IMHO. You can give your plants water periodically throughout the day without the need to feed all at once. This will allow the plant to uptake the water more efficiently because it will allow for better respiration which will cause a greater uptake at the root system.
Water by weight. You water them once till you have runoff. Hold the pot in your hands, remember how heavy it is, how it kinda feels like a wet bag of sand. Then you wait 2-3 or more days, you lift the pot daily. Once you notice it's light and kinda airy, water it! Let it dry out! The next time, try to water it until you just have only a smaller and smaller amount of runoff. Best is the have none in soil. Once you'll get the hang of it, you can water a little early to keep the soil moist, not wet!
also, don't water at once. only in small dosages, there are some plant sprayers with handpump and a sprayer. You can use those to wet your soil first. Then a small amount of water, wait some time to let it absorb, repeat.

No one sells living soil, so growers indoors must use expensive artificial salt based nutrients that must be flushed out before harvest. Out door planter buckets can get hot and kill the micro-biology in the living soil ! Growing in the ground where living soil produces the nutrients all plants need are produced continually . You can add molasses and worm castings to help the biology flourish and no flushing is needed . However indoor growers must learn what and when to feed nutrients and when a plant shows bad signs you must understand what the plant is telling you. It gets very complicated to grow indoors in non-living soil . Warning - adding artificial fertilizer to living soil can harm the micro-biology needed long term in a garden.

THANK YOU. Was looking for that comment. The ancient growers around Asia would just throw the seeds in the hard and dusty soil and the weather, sun and water will do the rest. @@beatceps342 On the one hand, yes. On the other: We here in Germany are allowed to grow 3 plants and harvest 50g dry flowers. And we it has to be protected against access by others and especially children. That nearly instantly excludes the "just throw a seed into the garden" way for me and many others. That leaves the controlled inside in a box. In a box, you'll need an expensive lamp, because of the three plant rule, you can't just throw in 10 seeds and hope they'll be good. Because your plant grows in a pot, you'll have to provide nutrients etc. Bugs won't have natural enemies... But the 50g rule makes everything easier. With three plants, we don't need to worry about high yield and fertilize too much or do all kinds of LST or manipulations because we'd just have to destroy the excess harvest.
