    I came to you channel through g29 steering wheel reviews. Yes the comments. Nearly every review I watched. I saw your comment. And through the 3rd time I saw you. I said to myself " eyyy it's the same guy again" you gained a sub. ( if your not sure which comments you commented 5 years ago)

    Hey tangles. Thanks for explaining how to test the coil. Years ago, I had one go bad on an old 86 Toyota truck 22R engine and a guy at work gave me one he had to try. That was the problem as suspected, but I didn't know how to test it. As for the rotor button, I've never broken one of those before.😜 I always use the same procedure as you when walking away from a job for a while, putting all nuts/bolts back in their locations. Even manage to drop one into the abyss now a then like you did as well.😯😅 All part of the job. If you do merch, please put your opening catch phrase on some. Have a great weekend, mate.

    I have the same car, its running badly, rough idle, vibrating, stuttering, low power. I swopped the dizzy over for another one from a junk yard, but made no difference. The cap and leads are still the original, so could there be an issue there? they appear fine. Any advise on what to test for next?

    I had thre same problem with my 1987 Toyota Carina now done only eighty five thousand miles. It has a single carbureta so is less complicated than yours, but still the same distributer and coil. It is now on it's third coil since new. I have bought a fourth just in preparation!! This spare has the little surround to the distributer connection as yours. First signs of trouble were hesitation on slow acceleration. I wonder what is wrong with the con struction of these coils, it seems a common fault. I suppose what withe modern coil over plug and an ECU. there will be other electronic problems - and what for i.e. My 1948 MG series Y when I fitted twin inch and three quarter SU carbs , of a Rover 100, gave me thirty five mpg even on town driving..

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  2 года назад

      In my case I think its the cam deal leaking hot oil vapour into the distributor.

    So I have a 92 Toyota Corolla, I've changed the tps, plugs, coil, and wires, new maf (because that's what the check engine light said was bad when I crossed the obd1 port), coolent temperature sensor, she is getting fuel just fine, and timed it, my problem is when it gets to normal running temperature, it seems to have a random misfire, and doesn't want to stay running, but when it's cold she purrs like a kitten, any ideas, been a headache for me for the past 3 months now

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  3 года назад

      Sounds very coil like, coils are affected by heat, when they start to fail usually it's when hot. Check for spark when she's hot. Unplug 1 spark plug lead at a time will tell you which one isn't firing as the sound won't change when you do.

    My 90 Corolla is definitely getting gas, just installed a low mileage junkyard distributor and still no spark

    Great video! Quick question, got an ae92 myself (1990 corolla sedan) running well as it had oil change, Timi belts, spark plugs, fuel filter etc but I note it hesitates on accelerate sometimes, my mate thinks could be the spark plug wires themselves, would this likely be the issue? Managed to find a distributor cap with wires on eBay that fits so gonna try that but would appreciate your thoughts

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  2 года назад +1

      Could be, could also be the plug gap, or injectors or most likely on a car of this age, vac leak due to old rubber hoses

    • @therager4401
      @therager4401 2 года назад

      Thanks, what is meant by the plug gap?

    • @tangles01

    • @TheShamwari

      Hesitation on acceleration was the second and last problem I had before the car came to a dead stop, the first was a miss fire on idling, Anyway I now cary a spare coil !!!

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01  3 года назад

      I'm not sure what your question is mate, if it starts, its probably okay, it may idle higher in the morning. if the idle speed is an issue though inspect the vacuum hoses.
