man is like you make me want to do things when you speak GREAT WORK!
You have to be one of the most upbeat presentors on RUclips. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much for your kind words!
I just bought one of these for a battery powered project. Thanks for your video, it gives a good idea of where to start. Good work!
Love your videos. Your excitement comes from the soul. Make things for the fun of it. Keep Broadcasting!!
Hi Nick, thank you for posting. Am I right in thinking that the 4 screws mean that it cannot be mounted flush to the inside of a project box opening? They seem awkwardly positioned.
It looks so good! Nice and sharp. I've got a soft spot for E Ink displays, wish they got more use outside of e-readers.
Hi! where did you find the jumper wires for the screen?
Hi I have a question. Could i use this to make a battery percentage reader and display? Ive been trying to figure this out for a project.
are e-paper displays suitable for DIY synthesizers and midi-controllers to visualize parameter changes and evolving audio dynamics?
Hi , can u display images on the screen eg QR codes , if so what lib are there for it, ESP32
Great video Nick, these displays are great in bright sunlight.
You are 100% from Greece
Great video! I am going to get a display and a device to control it. What I wonder though: is it possible to attach e.g. 5 displays to one Arduino or Raspberry Pi? Perhaps the bigger versions of the Waveshare displays?
Hi, what is the thickness of this module (excludinh nut and bolt)
Love your videos. Thanks and keep making them!
Thank you my friend!
You add the best video on RUclips which is most liked and subscribed best description.
I bought some of these to create an engine and fuel monitoring system since it is low current and easily readable. But the problem is that it is not recommended for temperatures below 0 C or above 40 C. Otherwise I think it is a great display option.
Will this also work for the Arduino Zero? I am trying to see if I can integrate a waveshare 6'' e paper with the Arduino Zero.
Question, i want to program the display something, lets say a vertical line. Thats it. Then unplug it from the arduino board and with the click of thr switch to go all white. When i click again i want to show that black line. Do you think thats possible?
Can we change as possible....lcd tablet to e ink tab
Thank you Nic. You are amazing!
It is really good product for low power projects.
, i hopped you use oscilloscope to measure power consumption , it is more accurate
I'm pretty ignorant about electronics and microcontrollers, so I do not know if the question is silly or not, but can I use other pins to connect the e-paper display to the arduino? and how do I adjust them?
I have a kindle 4 with a broken screen (half is not working), can i cut off the half that is not working and reuse it with Arduino?
Great presentation. Thank you.
Does the epaper display have a night mode?
You have my interest.
Anxious to see it work on an a D1 mini esp8266
Try using a raspberry pi zero w and any awesome project with that.
I don't understand, I can't use your library,
I have an error message "
Bibliothèque non valide trouvée dans C:\Users\julie\Documents\Arduino\libraries\GxEPD2 : no headers files (.h) found in C:\Users\julie\Documents\Arduino\libraries\GxEPD2". I don't know how to solve this problem.
Nobody had the same problem as me here and will know how to solve it?
Seeing as you live in a seismically active area of the world, have you every thought of making a Seismograph with a 3 axis accelerator?
Yes, I will try to build a Seismograph in the future. I have already ordered a very sensitive sensor the BMA180
Would love to know how to interface this to a Raspberry Pi....
nice video. BTW can this display programmed by adafruit GFX library?
Very nice job !! Thanks for your sharing !
Awesome, can't wait to see you try it with an ESP32.
Είσαι ωραίος. συνέχισε έτσι
Ευχαριστώ φίλε!
Δεν καταλαβαίνω ελληνικά :)
Is it compatible with Waveshare 2.13 D??
Assuming it does everything you show and if more libraries can be made that don't consume as much memory, it would definitely be worth the price and then some. I just ordered one of the two color versions and have been watching for e-paper displays for some times. As far as your lower-power demonstration, that's why I've wanted one. Did you actually note that you can completely disconnect it? That's the thing that makes e-paper so low power. It can technically consume 0 mamps between updates. If you're getting 0.01, that's likely just a passive drain through the connected board.
Oh wow, I didn't know that there was an epaper display available
Your voice is simply the best
How about a simple, very tiny, weather station that runs on AA batteries?
Max SMoke That would be very cool.
I am pretty sure, someone else has already done this using some other screen.
SIR, I am in problem with rasberry pi that i want to make home automation using pi zero and want to control fans, lights, computer and other projects that run using pi like smart mirror ,weather forcust all i want to control using one pi using voice commands is it possible
Then you need to cover some steps in the process
1. Learn Python or C in order to develop business logic on your RPi.
2. Investigate / Decide how different devices will communicate and on what protocol. MQTT client / broker is a good option but you need to pay attention on security.
3. You will need to create what is called a single state of truth so all of your devices can rely on that.
4. I would investigate RPi as the manager of other devices and more like the central brain. RPi is a good development board but has some drawbacks, one of them is the booting time.
5. Power consumption. You will mostly need some sensors / switches in places where power from wall plug is not available. Then you will need to power them from rechargeable options and then you will be faced with some power consumption issues.
6. Investigate low power boards (ESP32 or ESP8266). Learn about LoRa.
7. For voice command investigate Alexa from Amazon. Some features might be interesting. I do not implement Voice commands on my projects.
great review...
Thanks. Will try this
Good video, Good YT, and GOOD english! , i am spanish and i understant ALL!
Antonio_PS4_PC no habla inglés perfectamente pero se le entiende debido a que usa fonemas idénticos al español.
From a “Greek wannabe” to a real one: I real enjoy your videos, great information value, keep it up. And I guess you are from somewhere around Kastorias?

perfect sir, just perfect. love ur work
You are welcome, cheers!
where can I buy that e display
Can you make a video on STM32, there are not enough on RUclips as far as I know
Here it is: ruclips.net/video/K-jYSysmw9w/видео.html
educ8s.tv thanks for the fast reply
educ8s.tv why you not making Kindle in low of cost... 😉
Nice video sir, one new subscriber :-)
@educ8s.tv what did you change in your code from the demo because I tried using the 2.9in demo code for my display and the e-paper did not change from original image it came with?
You have to use the appropriate library for the display. Check the examples of the library to see which library include file is suitable for your display.
educ8s.tv okay so the demo code was never altered?
educ8s.tv how was the pins selected in the code?
Can we remove reflecting surface to create transparent image for this display? I am planning to buy please let me know
No

Thx for the review! It's an incredible display.
Pls, do you think that it will be working with the Arduino Nano also, guys?
Great stuff ! !

has it light?

I think it could use even less power without those transistors that protect the pins from 5v
Dear Educs, I wold like to see you to make a progect of temp/humidity arduino sensor
that send the data via RF433 MHz everi 5 min. with display of this .... all this on a nice box on the wall :-)
I wonder how much time can work with 2 of 1.5V batt.
Thanks a lot
I just bought the 4.2" (SPI) ePaper display from Waveshare to build a distraction free text editor using an ESP32 and await your updates on this project with great interest.
Does this thing require any kind of connection to retain its image? If I unplug it, would it keep the text on it?
Yes it will retain it. That's the magic of this display!
@@Educ8s I have a brilliant idea for a trading/collectable card product. I'm gonna have to buy some of these. And try mocking something up
I have been looking for something near enough exactly like this, I think. At least how you make it sound

hi, how does it look in the dark?
Black :D
I love your videos first off! I just tried to replicate this and the code will not compile, I've downloaded your code example off your website and downloaded the linked library also, do you know if something has changed in this?
still really struggling with this, cant get any of these libraries to work. Would you do a no step-skipped video from where you are pulling these libraries and how you are installing them?
@@miodice3 still working on it?

@@miodice3 sorry to hear. If i saw it earlier i could help. Pretty familiar with these screens
I have also been frustrated by the size of fonts, so I have developed a 48 high number font. I can send it to you if you like.
I would love to. But also, describe how you managed to create your own font. Cheers!
@@praveen5088 can you send me an email address?
I'd like to use it for a permanent temperature monitoring system.
i have kindle tablet with e paper its very nice and its suprises me how it just stays a image for months mayby years
also they are sooo high res
It has a very limited use. An 8.5"x11" version will make a great PDF reader.
eBook readers, are the majority of this technology's market.
You can power an LCD or any other peripheral that requires < 20mA to operate, directly from an Arduino port, to save power on a regular LCD like the Nokia.
The only advantage I can see, is it keeps its display with power off.
Καλησπέρα, πως θα μπορούσα να επικοινωνήσω μαζί σας; Ευχαριστώ.
"Error compiling for board Arduino Ethernet" pls help
I don't understand how I could buy the newest Kindle Paperwhite for 70€ the year it came out. How are this raw displays so expensive
Probably Amazon loses money on the Kindle device itself but makes a ton of money on books.
The kindle uses the epapr display
wrong, it uses e-ink. this is lcd epaper
You videos are very good, I'm trying to learn arduino programing. Εχεις ενα email να σε ρωτησω κατι που θελω?
Αγαπητέ φίλε, μπορείς να στείλεις email από τη σελίδα μου: educ8s.tv
Can i print a qr code with this display?
Sure, that's a good idea!
Thanks for sharing😀👍
great video on epaper... i know more from this info, not my cup of tea for now... thanks... 😉
July 2020, the 1.54" display costs US$20.93
hello friend : )
Hello! Nice to see you here!
19$ is around 15$?
I got mine for 15$ on Banggood but it is sold out now, so I put a link from the manufacturer. You are right it is not 15$, it is 18.39$ now.
Search for the driver IC IL3820. This will limit your results to sellers that are competent enough to provide real information as opposed to marketing and fake label branding. I've seen this e-paper display as low as $5.99 (currently out of stock) if you don't mind ribbon cables instead of modules. I'd rather build a proper voltage buffer/regulator anyways.
sites like bangood ebay and amazon will raise the price when they detect alot of ppl searching for the same thing ......its an algorithm that helps them gain more money !!!
fouzai alaa
No one raises the prices like this. You may see limited search results that reflect different prices, but eBay and AliExpress are not in control of the prices of goods listed by any seller. You protect yourself from search result scams by using tracking blockers while searching or shopping for goods. Multi vendor sales platforms are far more focused on matching customers to better quality sellers that produce a habitual customer on the platform. eBay is focused on product diversity, Amazon is all about the speed of delivery, and AliEx is designed for the lowest possible price. Stereotypically, you can only choose one of the three options. Get it fast, and you'll pay more and have limited options. Buy something unique and you'll pay more and wait longer. Get the best price, and you'll have limited options, and will need to wait. There's no free lunch. If your on a platform and searching for a bunch of surface type terms, the listings shown at the top will usually be focused on sellers that ship quickly, are more consistent, and cause less problems. These listings usually cost a bit more because the person/people running the business are intelligent and competent enough to calculate the overhead and cost of doing business instead of cutting margins below the operational cost of their business.
I don't sell on eBay currently but sold just under $150k in high end Bicycle stuff on the platform in 2014. The pricing of individual items is done 100% by the seller and can not change.
dude im super extra sure ....ebay and amazon will raise the price on there own if that particular item gets a load of hits in at the same time ....i dont know about there sorting algorithm for who appears first but the price algorithm is there .....lets say a big yt channel like bigCliveDotCom or Unbox therapy uploads a video showing a gadget they got from ebay and they provide a link in the description for it ..... in the video they mention they got it for 15$ but when you click the link its 20$ .........in case of unboxtherapy a video can get up to 8 million views if only 20% click the link in the description thats almost 1.5 million views th that item and if only 20% buy the item ....thats almost 400.000 ppl buying the same item ....... when ebay detects that pattern they will rise the price to make money and to prevent that item from being sold out .....and you agree on it in the terms of service !!!! big sites like ebay amazon have different algorithms for everything they are always under development and they are multi billions sites ....its not a random site everything is calculated
you forgot to turn the screen over and show how you wired it up.
Please watch the video one more time.
Sir, it should be under $4
Echo is annoying...
Sorry for that, I will try to reduce it in future videos! Cheers!
A suggestion for solving that would be using acoustic panels. You can buy them pretty cheap or make them yourself with some towels! DIY Perks has a video on that: ruclips.net/video/pABvTWSxOes/видео.html
Super helpful! Thank you very much for your time!
