Buck Surdu has published an excellent skirmish WWII rules set, Combat Patrol (see above links for how to obtain this game + details and RUclips links): Damage and casualties are allocated through a card-draw system. I've even adopted this card system to other WWII games, with some mods, of course, although they are perfect for his rules...A very excellent rules set I would strongly recommend. I am eventually going to devise a home-brew solitaire approach that could apply to Combat Patrol as well as others.
Just found your channel and subscribed. I belonged to HAWKS in the late 1990's...great group of folks! Really enjoyed seeing Buck's interview and spotting some of the members I gamed with back then. Thanks!
Congratulations on your first season. I love your format. The historical, the game, the minis and terrain, your tongue in cheek humor, and of course the scotch. Just missing the cigars. No really you have been a boon to our hobby. Hats off to all of you. If i lived on the opppsite coast id join your club ina second. Now. I am very interested in Sudoku Jidai peroid of Japan. You did not give Killer Katanas II a very high score. I have KK1 but also found it lacking. Have any of you played other rulesets or modifications of other rulesets that do not specifically deal with Japan that you like better? Anyways, i hope that season 2 will be as good as the first. Thank you again.
Thank you Gordon! We really appreciate you watching and commenting on the season throughout. For 28mm we've used Ronin and Battles in the Age of War, and in 6mm we're used Battles in the Age of War, Killer Katanas, Banzai, Taiko, and read through Chrysanthemum Throne. Ronin definitely gets the nod for skirmish level actions, and I believe there are some plans in the club to offer reviews of several other big battle systems to compare them more directly. They each have their trade-offs.

I like his "Beer and Pretzel skirmish" rule set.

You should reach out and meet up with them. They have a great, very active club.
