    when using the weld on stud process on japanese or metric tanks, may i suggest using a European travel plug adapter if you are in the U.S. this will convert American electricity into metric electricity and provide a far stronger weld point. Obviously if you are working on a Harley Davidson then don't use metric electricity.

      johnnycactus0 I just asked google and it said Euro metric electricity is twice as powerful as American SAE electricity? HOLY SH!T ! ... this opens a whole new world of shed possibilities ! thank you Mr. Cactus !

      Ichiban Moto As usual, well thought out and very informative. Was the assembly tape on the spot welder voltage grade, or will standard assembly tape work just as well. I hate throwing money away, as I am on a budget

    • @IchibanMoto
      @IchibanMoto  9 лет назад +6

      It was standard, not full voltage grade as it was just a temporary connection. Thanks for pointing that out , we want everyone to be safe !

    This video is awesome! Thank you Ichiban Moto. This completely removed the hair from my brows and beard when I did the first step but the results were well worth it. No more gas in the tank! I used an old screw driver instead of the coat hanger and the circuit breaker kept tripping so I removed it and wired everything straight up and it worked beautifully. Holding the wires by hand was not a great experience the first few minutes but then after the burnt skin got hard it was much easier.

    @busbystandup1337 5 лет назад +14

    Awesome instructional video, with great tips!!! I found it helps the welding part when you wash your hands thoroughly and weld while your hands are still wet. This prevents the oils in your skin from getting on the metal during the weld. Oh, it also helps to stand in a puddle so you know your feet aren't kicking up dust from the floor

    I've been doing tanks for over 35 years and his methods seem to work a lot better than mine. I suggest that you use his tank dent pulling system. One thing though instead of using 110 volts use 220 to weld the nail to the tank.

    • @johnm3629
      @johnm3629 9 лет назад +1

      The Gentleman Biker Using a 220 volt circuit would probably be more effective for welding than 110v.

    • @GentlemanBikerVlog
      @GentlemanBikerVlog 9 лет назад

      Would that make it easier to blow through though? I plan to build an ultra light bike from that sheet metal you wrap turkey in.

    • @IchibanMoto
      @IchibanMoto  9 лет назад +3

      The Gentleman Biker Could you possibly test on some scrap sheet metal first? Maybe with 110v using an American adapter ? and if that doesn't blow through, then try full euro metric voltage? I'm going to test the opposite of this with the recommendation from johnnycactus0 since I have only 110 volts here.

  • @dobypilgrim4164
    @dobypilgrim4164 9 лет назад +27

    Way too much work and a waste of gasoline. try this next time. Instead of burning the gas off at the beginning, make it your friend. Seal the cap on the tank and then run you electrical wires in through the bottom. Then plug it in and let it arc and spark. That should blow the dents out. e sure you have enough gasoline in to do the job, but not enough to blow it up. That's the tricky part.

    To everyone who is offering their negative feedback, I don't understand. I have been following the videos and using his techniques with great results. The only think I find fault with is using the bare wire in the outlet. This is extremely dangerous! You must use two metal paperclips and attach the wire to them first. then easily insert into the socket. Obviously he has never has yet to have a strand of wire bend back and lodge under his fingernail. I literally shuddered watching him stick the wire into the outlet without paperclips.

    Damn! I knew I was doing it wrong. Never listen to your little girl when it comes to dent removal. She told me to lure Pixies and fairies into the tank by laying a trail of sugar cubes from the bottom of the garden where they live, all that way to the shed where I kept the dented tank.
    "When the pixies and the fairies get inside the tank put a lid on it. You can make a lid with pastry," she said.
    I did that and nothing happened but my little girl said I just have to be patient and they will beat out the dents from the inside if I just sing to them.
    I spent a year in my shed singing to my bike tank but it failed. I am starting to think there never were any fairies or pixies in my tank at all. I am going to do it like this now, so thanks man. That's bad ass.

    What a maroon! every professional knows it's much safer and stronger to use wood dowels with a wood welder, they use much less electricity! And that metric vise grip is a left handed one and he's using it in his right hand ( what an amateur) ! Also it would be a lot faster to use " Hot Paper" to remove the paint, this guy is gonna go out of business unless he learns fast!

    I'm always laughing hard at your videos, but I'm serious when I say some 16 year old really could kill himself. They don't teach anything of this nature in schools anymore, and most kids have been sheltered away by their parents. Kids these days honestly might not know just how dangerous this stuff is because they don't have a real father that teaches them. I know it isn't your fault they are ignorant but it isn't really there fault either, but they will pay the price.

    • @FontediCalore
      @FontediCalore 8 лет назад +2

      as someone already mentioned, it's darwin's natural selection and very refreshing too

    • @flippintrippin363
      @flippintrippin363 8 лет назад +3

      FontediCalore Nature selection would imply that they are actually just stupid, but that isn't the case for some young sheltered kid. If you have never been exposed to it and/or been taught it, you are just ignorant, but not necessarily stupid.

    • @FontediCalore
      @FontediCalore 8 лет назад

      + Mr. E Nature selection will take anyone that's not paying attention, not necessarily the idiot ones. Yes maybe the match inside the tank is a little too much, lol. Believe me or not, when I was 16 I would happily put a match to a tank, so long as it is totally full it just lights the tiny bit at the top, go on try it yourself :)

    • @jimmypodunk
      @jimmypodunk 8 лет назад

      I thought it was funny. But seriously the 16 year old might not try the egg beater and sandpaper but he's likely to throw a match into a gas tank. Heck anybody might try that.

    • @FontediCalore
      @FontediCalore 8 лет назад +1

      James Fuller you know what? in the USA a 16 years old can drive a V12 Mustang. And many of them do. Now what's wrong to showing the same exact kids to see what happens when you put a match to a tank? after all with the Mustang they might kill an entire FAMILY! Unlikely with the match!
      Does my reasoning seem LOGIC to you?

    I have questions. When I tried the gasoline removal/safety process you describe I had a much more sudden and dramatic reaction and I'm trying to determine what I did wrong. I think i've narrowed it down to three possibilities. You don't mention in the video wether it is best to remove residual gas from the tank prior to initiating the process? The second possibility is that the dents on my tank were in a different location? Lastly, and most probable in my estimation was a reaction between the chemical make up of the matches I used and the gasoline. I was not able to proceed past this first step but if I were able to do it again I would probably try a different brand of matches.

  • @TheComputec
    @TheComputec 7 лет назад

    I only had plastic coat hangers and could not replicate your weld process. Is it okay if I paint my plastic coat hangers with metal coloured paint? I am hoping that using 2 x AA batteries instead of just one will help as the dent I have is very old and has probably become a little stubborn and set in it's ways a little.
