Hello Jorg! I watched your video as 'research' for my own video! :-) Its great to see these locomotives still in operation! Greetings from Seattle! :-)
Hi, Greetings from Denmark. The Nohab or class MY as we call them got for most part a snowplough installed around the time they got their new colour scheme in the 1970'ies They were both freight and pasenger locomotives but for the last 10 years of their opperation from the mid 1990'ies till 2007 they only drove freight. The Norwegian version has power on all 6 axels but the danish has no power on the middle axle of each truck. Great rewiew.
I use both Kato's super-elevated track for the double-track curves, or Tomix track for some single track curves. Either of these will work fine with traditional Code 80 N scale track (Atlas, Minitrix, etc...) as long as you 'match' the roadbeds so the rails are at the same height.
Thanks for the info - and invite! :-) I can never understand why manufacturers love these yellow LEDS (they seem like they are in way too many locomotives)! Yes, 10 years ago maybe this was a better choice than the cool blue, but LED's are so much better now!
Another nice review, Joe! The KATO NOHAB is indeed a great model, but I agree with you that it was a bit too shiny and think you really improved the appearance. Some versions are now available for just 69€ in Germany. I've got the CLR version but hope to find one in the older DSB scheme which I watched shunting in Bremen last October (see it in my channel) greetings from Hamburg Jörg
That's a really cool locomotive. I might have to get me one. And I love your reviews I think they're great. its like top gear but with n scale trains. if you know what top gear is.
That Kato My class locomotive was one of the best things that has happened to the Danish N scale scene. I have a bunch with decoders. The Red/Black DSB one is an almost perfect representation of the real but the Maroon red old color one is incorrect in several ways.
hej quinn, it has a fault: the orange warning lights were never there and the snow plows must be used :) you can google translate the MY 1136's history here at jernbanen.dk - if you some day stop by our small country, there's a MY in our railroad museum, where you can see it from inside and sit in the drivers cab. you should change the piss-yellow LEDS into warm white, it'll look much better. regards from denmark.
indeed, yellow leds are a pain even i H0 scale ! i can't post full links, so try to put the URL together, but this is someone with good fingers who replaced the LEDs: tinypic.com/r/5wmq82/6 - from jernbanen.dk, i can also tell you this MY 1136 was into service as late as 1986. not bad for a 1957 train ! we still use some MY's here, mostly as service trains -- when the winter gets tough, they are used with a snow-plow infront of them: tinypic.com/r/1zb4ftz/6
A very good review as always and it looks very good running round your layout.
cheers John.

Hi Austin! Well thank you! :-) I indeed know what Top Gear is and enjoy the show a lot! I think that's a huge compliment! You made my day!
Another lovely review Joe, an interesting prototype

Hi, great review as always. I noticed that your locomotives bank into a corner on your layout
How did you achieve this?

o boy i can't wait :D
10:08 What decoder can you use in these?
Coming soon.... :-)
