Good vids man, keep it up. I feel like your niche is a tech reviewer who doesn't get too technical for the more casual enthusiast. You're also honest about your impressions of things. Don't let any sponsorships make you biased. That would kill your channel. I hope you do get loads of sponsorships, just don't let them buy your approval.
THANK YOU for actually making a video setting up a PS Portal without a PS5. All the other RUclips channels say you can use it without a PS5 but it's already set up with a PS5.
My biggest problem with the Portal(even while streaming from a ps5) is that it uses variable bitrate and the maximum it will use is not very high. I think it's around 15 mbps for 1080p which is just not enough to get a streaming experience without streaming artifacts. I love that 3rd party solutions (like chiaki) allow you to choose the bitrate and that makes a huge difference in image quality.
I own Legion Go & Steam deck. But recently i bought Ps Portal for a dirt cheap price, subscribed to ps plus premium. this portal has a lot of potential, im on a point that i wish that my games on other hand held will work like this 1080p , super fast loading while you're in the game, the battery life 5-6 hrs!! and the device is super light weight, unlike my other handheld. Only problem is im forced to play their list of games from the library. Cant play my other bought games/wanted games
How did you manage to get only 2 hours of batterie ? Mostly, i’m around 4/5hours ! But i’m reducing the effects inside the controller (mostly the triggers)
The portal is awesome, sure you can stream your ps5 on Chiaki, but from my experience I don't get a solid connection and even if I do (I don't) I am missing the Dual Sense Controller experience. Play some Gran Turismo and feel the track when you race, the controller makes all the difference!
Really all you gotta do is buy a PlayStation controller & hook it up to whatever pc you own. You don’t even have to pay $200 for a portal. I own a one x player that has an actual usb port & you just disconnect the controller attachments & plug in the ps4 controller thru that usb & there you go. Understand that psnow is piss poor & isn’t anywhere close to game pass. You will find exactly not one single newer game published by Sony on this service. You won’t find the latest God of War game or the latest Horizon West game or Spider-man 2 or either of the newer Final Fantasy games. You won’t find Stellar Blade. You won’t even find Returnal. That’s what you are paying for if you buy a PlayStation Portal & you don’t own a ps5. Many of these games playable via purchasing them for the pc if you don’t own a ps5. Almost none of them can be played on that portal.
I have literally no idea why someone would ever buy one of these. When the price difference and the size is similar to the steam deck. And the steam deck can stream perfectly well, doesn't cost a monthly subscription to use, and has access to native games without the need for Wi-Fi. Games which can be had for far cheaper. Even if all I wanted was to stream games, I would buy a steam deck over this every time. Especially considering it would have better battery life
@ I just don’t think $200 is worth it to stream playstation games. My cellphone can do that. 😂 at least with the switch lite I could play my games without the worry of connection loss or input lag. ( i don’t have either i have a steam deck and a desktop )
Completely different library. The Switch isn't going to give you access to GTA5, GTA6, the PS4 library, modern sports games, Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, etc etc. If you want to play Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, sure, get the Switch.
I like your content dude but I don't think it's particularly safe yet to just say you can rock a PSPortal without a PS5 console. Clearly you had issues setting it up without and one and imagine if someone less informed as you or your audience got one for themselves or their kids, they may not ever be able to figure out how. Until Sony outright makes it an official standalone streaming device, which they could do via updates in the future, I would call this experimental at best.
Wrong way to present the information. As a Playstation 5 owner($500), I pay $130 year for Playstation Premium. The PS5 can play physical, digital, and stream video games at home. As a Playstation Portal owner($200), I can stream games (I've already paid for Playstation Premium) anywhere I have access to a good Wi-Fi connection. To boot up any game from a Steam Deck, ROG Ally or Portal, you'll need Wi-Fi. So, the requirement for someone to have Wi-Fi to use the Portal is the same for most handhelds. The Portal is worth the money now you can stream. The library will change and probably get bigger.
"To boot up any game from a Steam Deck you'll need Wifi" Wrong way to present the information. I have tons of games on my Deck that I can access without the need for any sort of Internet connection.
You download the steam games directly to your steam deck from the steam store, you don’t need Wi-Fi to play them once they’re downloaded. Think of it like a digital content only system and not a streaming system.
Lets hope for a true PSP Vita successor.
Straight up
The already said they working in a portable when u can play ps5 games
They announced they're going to make a handheld that can play PS5 games. So it's coming! We'll see if they fumble it though.
Odin 2 Mini bro
Hopefully it’s not too long a wait!

I made a rule! No sponsors for handhelds or whatever I talk about in the video
@@CyberDopamine good rule. If I could subscribe twice I would!
This should have been available at launch

I see Kurt Cobain mixed with Sting and now I cannot unsee it :D

I recently just asked about expanding to different handhelds and immediately you put out new things. Must have already been cooking. Nice.

Can u cloud stream those ps3 games? Like GOD of war 1 and 2?
Depending on the game you play determines battery life
I ran to Target and got one when heard about the update Lol
Again, it's a perfect video. I will put money on it one day, and you will be making a living of being a creator. Just keep being you
Shaggy
I think you have some voice filtering going on in your mic, Would you be able to turn that off? It should sound way better then :)
Good vid.
Isn't PlayStation plus premium $160 a year? That's $13.33 a month. Why do people keep saying $20 a month?
Awesome I’m gonna check it out
This is a very good video
Good to know. Thanks.
Was definitely not expecting this! Maybe one day we’ll have N actual PS/Xbox handheld
The Xbox handheld is called ROG Ally, Legion Go or any handheld PC
@ no
@@InceptionAnims yes.
@@InceptionAnims the Ally was even marketed as the Xbox handheld. Even came with like 3 months of gamepass.
@ Doesn’t count dawg
Do I need a ps5 to enable the cloud streaming?
Do you have to own games does gives you some games like games pass
Bro what kind of hoodie is this ?
xbox cloud gaming has been a nightmare for me lol its constantly like screen tearing
ive been meaning too pick one up but was unsure if id be able to play my psn account on the ps go & my gf plays hers on the same ps5
What happens when the sticks start drifting?
Just replacing them
How about testing it outdoors? Can it still play when you're at the mall or a coffee shop?
can you cloud stream play the games on ur ally x?
yes you could
$200 for this is not a great deal, this is basically a $80 tablet with with a dual-sense build it.
and a new dualsense is 80 bucks... and a 1080p screen is not seen on a 80 bucks tablet... the amazon tablets in this price have HD or SD screens
@@LouRaX really doing tricks on it huh
Put some socks on bro. Got to have socks on while at the crib bro.
He spent all his money on the portal so he couldn't afford socks. 😢
Bro I am barefoot where I live we don’t wear shoes.

How much are you charging for that emoji bro. 🤔
didn't have to mog me first thing in the morning brev I just woke up😔
For $200 a switch lite seems like a better deal to me.
its not running playstation games ! and if it could they looked super shit... compare hogwards legacy!

Ouch.
Or you just use your Steam deck and it supports HDR.
Need nasa Internet for good results so at the end not for me
