If you say its overpriced then you may not fully appreciate just what you are getting. Its the total ambiance, the food and tea, the great service, as well as the history.
A wonderful look at afternoon tea at one of my favourite places to indulge! I love that the s"cone" / s"con" debate can crop up anywhere....we'll be debating whether cream or jam goes first next!
Thank you very much, Jane Malyon. I had a good laugh when watching William Hanson giving the (foreign) couple Gino & Mel a lesson in such etiquette, and also I learned something new, which was never to cut scones or bread with a knife. For years now I have tried to get hold of such a lovely three-storeyed cake stand which I always see on films where english tea is served, but in vain. Finally I found a two-storeyed plate rack, and of course I bought it, but it is not quite the same ....
Hoping to revisit the UK and London next year if possible. Some 50 years ago I was a young Aussie girl living and working in London, in fact directly across the road from the Savoy, but certainly never had the finances to indulge in Afternoon Tea at the Savoy or the other very classy and expensive London hotels. If and when I return, the Savoy is on my list to have their Afternoon High Tea.
It is fantastic, all videos about afternoon tea are made of foreigners. Wish I could learn this from an english lady who knows the custom from her childhood.

I get chills watching this! Teatime at the Savoy, what could be grander?

We were here today..sickly sweet cakes and pastries. Overpriced and standard...similar to a bench covered in silk

Does anybody know what is the title of the music they used as their music background on this video?
Quite.

The Savoy hotel really is a beauty. No wonder Gordon Ramsey rated its food

He is NOT Aussie. Our accents are vastly different.
