Disagree. Cthulhu Dark Ages is my favourite Cthulhu setting. I found this book gave me everything I needed to run several long running Dark Age campaigns. As for spells not casting sanity there were different attitudes back then. Everyone believed i witchcraft and as such spell casting challenged no ones mental equilibrium. ...also, unicorns definately have their place. If you dont like them, dont use them, but theyre great at challenging players misconceptions. Theres nothing like a pychotic, flesh eating mount with its own built in lance to get players fleeing in terror. :-D
Totally agree. I sold my copy soon after I bought it. The HUGE page margins should have sent me a warning. All padding and no game. It feels as though it was thrown together in a week to meet a print deadline. I will look into this patreon thing.
Thought it might worth noting a new edition using 7E has just been put out. To my knowledge only a pdf at the moment. On Drivethru RPG. I've not bought it yet but toying with the idea.
To be honest, I think the fact you're disappointed about Unicorns being stated is a tad... weird. I'm not going to say it's a bad thing, just weird. Overall, though. This review was nicely put together, and straight to the point unlike other reviews that to spice things up with comedy or things that are unneeded. While I do disagree with the rating, I do respect your opinion on it, Dark Ages does have it's flaws and I say that as someone who absolutely loves the setting.
Thanks for the feedback. The reason I don't like unicorns in CoC is that they are a absolute fantasy trope, and they have done nothing interesting with them to make them fit the tone of the setting. They could have just galloped in from any other game.. I appreciate that it is a matter of opinions here, and yours is equally as valid as mine but I wouldn't necessarily say it is weird that I am disappointed - I just don't think they belong there. If you're interested, I have put up a poll on my Twitter to gauge opinion on this - if you're on there, please feel free to chip in.
Oh, of course, I can understand the disappointment. I just think it's a very small thing. And it's not like you're forced to use it for your games, I certainly don't. I'll see if I can get onto that poll, It's been a long time since I've used Twitter. But yeah, great review, and you earned yourself a subscriber, so yey.
gppd review... i was wondering if an updated 7e darkages has been released? if so, can you review that one and tell us if any signifigant changes have been made.. please

You disagree. Cool. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
Oh and unicorns. Oh hell naw!
First time watching your reviews and this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you sir.
Glad you found it useful.
Thank you for the work you put in your videos.
Glad you like them!
“Sadly, it even has rules for unicorns” lol 😂 love it.
I can't describe how disappointed I was...
Google translates tends to have a great deal of trouble with Latin. I'd say they translated the HP Lovecraft's phrase as well as they could.
*shrug*. I did my best.
Your 5/10 was "cruel but fair". Yet another valuable summary Bud. Thumbs up!
I think so.
They have a new revised edition for Dark Ages and it is quite well-versed and doesn’t have that ridiculous unicorn stuff haha
Check it out!
SonySlyer link?

Is this a complete, self contained product? No other books to buy to use it?
usapatriot4163 you would need the Call of Cthulhu 5th edition rules.

Yeah, I may review it at some point in the distant future. Apparently there are no unicorns in this version... which is a plus.
Eldritch Unicorns could be intriguing
Add some appendages ,such as fangs, jaws , and tentacles
Makes them far more intriguing .
Joe Coo see THAT I can get onboard with.

I've got a fair distance to go yet!

Yes, it has. No I haven't bought it yet to find out as it's a bit expensive.
