Love your criteria, I think some people forget that passenger comforts like decent seats and good fast charging are massively important to people wanting to choose public transport over a car.
Nice video! You spoke a lot of in depth topic about buses here that not much ppl speak abt, we need more videos like this! Glad to see not everyone hating on electric buses
i agree with the Mercedes E Citaros there was 1 on loan to Arriva Kent Thameside for fastrack and when i saw it and heard it my god it was the best bus I've seen and listened to all year this was in 2022 and with the irizar IE trams not seen them but i think spring 2025 as Go-Ahead own fastrack they will be used for fastrack so I'm so excited to see them and ride them
I live near Harrogate and never knew that Harrogate had an e-citaro in the Harrogate red and also I love how much you went in-depth with the bus amazing video!
I'm quite excited for the BAE-powered enviro400s to come to london. I don't really like the bzl dd or the electroliner. The bzl is really strangely laid out inside (battery over the wheelarch? wtf?) and the electroliner keeps the tiny windows of the gemini3 on the top deck, which makes it feel dark. The skylights on the new ones help, but do not fix the gloom. My favourite bus is the switch metrocity single deck. It looks funky, it sounds funky, it's got a good internal layout and lots of skylights and it's not wearing a massive battery hat like so many other electric single deckers. Thanks for another great video!
I am also excited for those enviro400s to be in London!! And the switch metrocity sounds amazing, nothing like the traditional electric bus sound at all ahah
Controversial is may seem but I really like the vision zero facelift, to me at least as a driver it looks really modern. There’s going to be a flood of them and BZL DD in Manchester from Sunday as Metroline enter Manchester. Pretty excited to get behind the wheel of them.
Nice video for sure! Glad someone has actually made a video on this for once. I mean your list is solid, however the BZL DD wouldn't be my favourite. I mean i guess its just how my operator has them and operates them but otherwise the BD11s and ie trams would be on there for me. What are your opinions on the Enviro400Ev2 (Thats just im calling it)
The vision zero electroliners have 1 critical benefit for me: the window panel in the upper deck front window Pilar, giving proper 360 view from front seats. It's especially great considering that normally the pillars around the front upper window is quite chunky on Street decks/electroliners
Some people are always like"This bus looks ugly Like they need to get a grip and accept that london is trying to make the places Environmentally friendly
I actually think late 00’s and 2010s had better looking buses externally. But newer UK buses looked externally designed to be more functional and safer but not always good looking.
@ I like new buses for quiet engines, smoother rides although I miss the interesting gearbox noises from older buses. But to me aesthetically they don’t usually look good externally although they look practical and functional. E400 mmc city looks good but other bus bodies like wright street deck don’t look attractive to me, being boxy and looking heavy. I think e400 first gen’s look good externally, the old wright Gemini’s also looked decent.
I agree. It's because they brought in BYD. BYD is good internally but terrible externally, hence why a collab with alexander dennis & BYD made a bus which cancelled out each companies weaknesses and made a very smooth, safe, comfortable & beautiful bus, the BYD Enviro200/400EV. Obviously now that years have past there's been more buses introduced which are much nicer exterior wise, but at it's time it was one of the best.
I've had a few issues with the Enviro 400 City EV from a passenger perspective, particularly with some interiors - As you showed, the charging ports do get vandalised pretty quickly which does date the busses (a very minor issue, but still could have been considered in the design of the ports). I am not a fan of the lack of grab-poles on the upper deck, I hate yanking on someone's seat trying to move down an accelerating bus. Also I wish the lighting was yellow - the white can be a bit intense if you are having a headache or you're trying to rest your eyes. I'm not sure how much of this is up to the operators themselves (at least in terms of lighting or the grab poles, I'm sure the operators could do more to refurbish the charge ports if they cared to) but I think tweaking those issues would make the rising experience a lot better. But I have to agree that the ride quality and sound is much improved (no more hideous rattling and shaking!) and the skylight is a nice touch, especially in the summer. The bus is a huge net improvement over the old ones.
Yeah I do actually agree with the lighting. I am huge fan of yellow lighting on transport but the bright white lighting seems to be the way forward. A nice feature is on the MCV BZL, where the lights dim whilst driving and then brighten up at a bus stop - I feel like more buses should have this feature !
I agree with ur point on the lights need to be yellow and not just white only. unfortunately the individual big poles for seats is no longer a option for london double decker buses upstairs, its the new design trend for them. And the vandalising isnt the manufacturers fault, they are not to blame for that. Blame society. Also every bus doesnt rattle when new, they will rattle when they get older. A few are starting to right now, rattling is unexcapable for a big heavy vehicle that is having constant fast vibrations and movement 24/7
Happy New Year. I do think that London should get more buses that would run on hydrogen and battery power to replace the older diesel buses. As well as new trains for the Bakerloo Line with extension to Lewisham and Bromley.
*My favourite London bus fleets from the 2020s:* Enviro200 MMC EV Enviro400 City EV Ceetano City Gold Wright Electroliner (Including new Enviro400 EVs, Volvo / MCV BZLs, Irizar ie trams, and BYD BD11s)

When i was younger the older buses where great the ones with steps at the door
yes great for wheelchair users too 👍
Defo stagecoach tridents
Couldn't agree more with the Volvo BZL DD. It looks amazing and so modern, easily my favourite electric bus
such a great bus!
Nice to see you back on RUclips. Still Hapoy New Year.
Happy new year :)
Great video! I love Harrogate's eCitaros and travel on them a lot!

they only came into service 100% just over a month ago so they are still very knew to harrogate
Thank you and you should have a ride on them :)
Great to see a new video, Nathan. Happy New Year to you and yours. :)

That is fair, maybe with time I will like them more. Who knows

Only thing I’d add to the top 5 is the Caetano e.City Gold (on the P5, C10 & 433) love love lovee the seating layout on those!
ooo those are cute little buses.
I've been on the E400 City EVs a few time up in Manchester and they are decent buses
Number 1 for me is the Evora
We also have Yutong Double Decker bus in Singapore but ours is longer than U11DD, called E12DD
I have see videos of that variant, I quite like the look of them
The whole of Warrington has BZLs, you really should come and check them out!
Defo will!
BZLs from Warringtons own are absolutely amazing
I can't wait to see the BZLs on the Bee Network

Isn’t that just a spec the operator chooses
I totally agree with you, the Volvo BZL DD's are my favourite buses like, they are so cool! Personally, the BYD BD11's just aren't for me lol.
Some people are always like"This bus looks ugly Like they need to get a grip and accept that london is trying to make the places Environmentally friendly

whats bad about the new bus looks? Compared to car designs of today id say buses still look good

I think the mid nineties to 2010 were the best buses Dennis Plaxton ,Tridents and the Volvo Olympians .
@@Peter-mj6lz hmmm okay I hear what u r saying there. I do like the boxiness of some new buses as it gives them a busy bus vibe imo
It is interesting to see them develop
agreed!

The enviro ev400s are fun. They sounf nice and the ev enviro200s. Sound just like they have train motors
E400 City EV + Wright Electroliner goated
So goated, excited for the new E400 EVs
Happy New Year. I do think that London should get more buses that would run on hydrogen and battery power to replace the older diesel buses. As well as new trains for the Bakerloo Line with extension to Lewisham and Bromley.
Happy New year! Yes I agree with both!
the patrick bateman thumbnail is sick haha

11:58 exactly bro what is this ugly ahh bus some square robotic type futuristic bus that just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing at all😭
❤
W video
Im sorry but after the ev enviro 400s the designs they are introducing are rather ugly. Ev envirp 400s didnt need to be changed all that much.
Second
The BYD is screamingly ugly.
explain whats screamingly ugly about it
The ai generates looking front, weird windows weird rear
The BD11 is just hidious
@cplayzstuff6907 how does it look ai generated. The windows are shaped normal aswell
wish GAL could order more BZLs instead of getting BD11s
