This format with the filming and music is just so relaxing and refreshing. Thanks Micheal.
A dog would complete the picture…. Dang fine aspect ratio, was a treat to watch on a projector!
Hey Michael I’m sorry it took me so long to get the time to watch this video. We really enjoyed it. I got to say. This video is absolutely Necessary.
You just cracked the code with the cinematic lens. It makes watching so much more enjoyable. I'm going to be 100% honest and I don't want you to take this the wrong way but I am really only a casual fan of this channel. I watch some of your videos but I'm not waiting for the next one every week like I do some other channels. i was glued to this video because of the visual quality. I am a wildlife photographer. Maybe I'm more sensitive to the subtlety of the cinematic look but I really think it adds so much to your already great videos.
I’ll take one these every month. Film festival winning quality. Different style that would give Clay Croft a run for his money. Thanks for keeping it real.
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it.
I would love it if you could produce something like this weekly (Easy for me to say). Obviously this took quite a bit of effort and time and a man does not have these things in abundance. Quite a spectacular video. It really did conjure up some of those cinematic westerns.
Haha - I know I know. I would love to!
@@OverlandBoundhonestly make more of these! Are so different from the mainstream!
This one and xoverland alaska series are high in my list !
Michael, outstanding video, and hits close to home for me... I run a 2014 Power Wagon with almost 100K miles on her, and I exclusively run solo, simply because so many folks wanna log miles every day of their trip and that's just not who I am. My rig is very much capable of staying off-grid for weeks at a time, and when I come across a beautiful spot that leaves me isolated from others, I will stay in that location for days before I head on down the trail. While you are among many RUclipsrs I enjoy watching, the majority make great videos by pushing themselves for many miles a day, with many getting to a campsite in the dark (not ideal for a solo traveler)... I think it would be great for more RUclipsrs to document their campsites more thoroughly for the beauty they have found in God's country instead of having such a rigid schedule that they can sometimes miss what's right under their noses. Thanks so much for a welcome change in the normal venue, beautifully done, and I look forward to seeing more of these videos with this aspect of overlanding... Godspeed...
Thank you soo much for the note! I really agree. I don't want a schedule, and ideally - I don;t know where I will be in 3 days, or even tomorrow, and I really enjoy doing nothing in a great location. thank you for watching.
This was awesome. Thanks Michael for taking us along. Definitely more like these would be awesome. OB 12236 😊
Yep, solo trips like this by any of my RUclips favorites is the best, being its how I go 99% of the time. Thanks
Love that song, but lol… I thought of City Slickers 😂
Felt like I was watching Lawrence Of Arabia when I saw those wide shots of the canyon.
Well Michael, you've outdone yourself. That was the first RUclips video that filled my 36" monitor corner to corner with those epic landscapes. Well done, young man! That was great. Thank you. I needed that today. My truck quit last night and stranded me and now the part that the garage "thinks" it needs is on backorder for who knows how long. So I am homebound for the most part, so again, thanks for taking me out for a little trip.
Awesome Rob - so good to hear! I'm really glad you enjoyed it - that one was especially fun to make. Good luck with your truck! i know how that goes!
Beautiful piece! Thank you.
Michael, watched this yesterday and loved it, then had a REAL bad day today and went back to watch again to decompress. Felt Sooo much better after watching again, thank you so much. Maybe you should become a overlanding stress reduction therapist 😄
This is really good the hear. I am glad it helped.
Beautiful production worthy of projection in a movie theatre.
... Bravo! 👏👏👏... I am all smiles here, from ear to ear. 😁 .. One of your best videos, yet. That lense is awesome, and the phootage is beautiful! ... I learned a new one, "don't let rattles go." ... love it, and will always remember. Thank you. .. MAN, I can't wait to see Moab! .. 🙏🏼Thank you for taking us camping. You have my vote for doing more, hahaha. Take care and be well, brother 🤙🏼 OB3746
I lived in Colorado for 15 years and did the Moab trips often. This video tells it all. The feel and sights were perfect. Well done Sir.
Spectacular cinematography! Well done Michael. And the Oscar goes to.... too much? Nicely done, really enjoyed it. Thanks🤠
Really enjoyed how this video was made ! Landscapes, storytelling, and some words of wisdom! Cinematic and wholesome!
We need more of this and less plugs!
Thank you!
Bravo! I think your best yet. Thank you for taking us on this adventure with you and keep them coming! Cheers!
I myself loved how you did this video. Very well done from one of my favorite youtubers! Thanks for your time to entertain us.
Next level cinematography of absolutely stunning landscapes. Thank you. My brain needed that.
Loved the video….took me back to watching John Wayne with my Dad.
Not sure what's better, the camera lens or the music. Wow, nicely done.
Nicely done......I am heading to Moab in 2 weeks......going to attempt the same.....
Love the film work on this one!
This was fantastic! Thank you for this movie!
“Cinematic adventure”. This was so awesome. I love when you “yammer” but appreciate the silent moments also. But Michael I have to say…that opening music. I just had a warm moment in my heart!❤️Put it on pause, got a big cup of tea and settled in. The music set the tone for a real John Wayne event! If I ever get an off road rig I will name it Stagecoach! As it takes you on necessary adventures! (See how I worked that in!). Keep up the good work. Thanks so much!
Love the CinemaScope aspect ratio!
Well done sir keep them coming 👏
Thank you!
Awesome!!
Fantastic! Yes, more of this!
Love the format and content of course!! Thanks for sharing. Keep the cams rolling!!
I think your going to see some copy cats on this kind of offroad cinematic excellence. Great job Michael and overland bound.
It would be awesome to see some of those anamorphic pano shots in B&W with a film grain filter applied. Maybe even bookend a video with them. In my mind it would look like you started out traveling in the 1800's then came to current day to tell your story and then faded back into the past. For a real treat, you could start out at a lower resolution, come up incrementally to HD or 4K, and then drop back when the story was over.
That would be cool!
Great video, simple in form and execution. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome 👏
That was great. I loved it.
Love this trip! As an Arizonan, I see a lot of this landscape, but can't get enough of it. Good Work!
Well that was pretty darned nice. I give it three thumbs up. Thank you for a beautiful sunset.
Outstanding, just outstanding.
Thank you!
This was so great
Epic episode wow
Thank you Michael, your absolutely correct adventure is nessary, and so times the solo trips are the Best for the calming of the mind . . .
Stay safe out there 😃
amazing views ! Great video Michael !!
Great Video. Did enjoy watching it
Wow, excellent narration, cinematography, and background music. Nicely done. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Really glad you enjoyed it!
Great video - thank you
Brother, rent that lens again! What a difference in the quality of your cinematography. Amazing.
Thank you OB1
Great video!!!
WOW !! Beautifully done. Really enjoyed this video. Definitely getting me excited for my next trip to Moab.
Wow! This here is probably the best video I’ve seen. Thanx. One day I’ll have the courage to do this. I think I definitely have rig that’s capable I just need to have the guts. Lol. Thanx again.
Well done..... The Wifey and I did a couple days there back in 2016 when we lived closer. Tough to get that far from Florida but can't wait to do it again someday. thanks for the nudge. Terry and Tonia
That was pretty cool.
Thank you Michael...as simple as it may seem, beside a great view we can learn alot....or just get a real important reminder....you should overland Iceland....F roads are amazing...and no its not that F Word😂😂...its how they call it
Well done! Love Dirt. Thanks
Nicely done… much appreciated…
Also.. unless I missed it.. maybe go over some of the added equipment and accessories you have installed on your rig? For instance.. what kind of rear bumper/swing out spare tire and storage box system
Is that? Much appreciated!!🤙🏽
Amazing video Michael!!! The camera work was truly amazing but that aside I really appreciated the more relaxed schedule. I have traveled both solo and in small groups but truth be told, some of my favorite adventures were solo. Solo travel in it’s simplest form definitely helps to recenter one’s self. Your sound trail advice and you positivity are always welcome. Keep up the great work! Thank you and I look forward to seeing your future videos.
Thanks for the inspiration/aspiration, Michael!
I was planning to have my new (to me) ‘86 HJ60 shipped (Flagstaff > Lubbock) over the next couple weeks, but have now decided to fly out and make a trip of it…for some reason. 😉
best cinematic video and your commentary was great throughout. I have a 94 FZJ80 and I have yet to take it to Moab. I’ll get there one day.
This is amazing video. Had to watch sitting in my rig. Next week I will be doing the same
Appreciate this work. well done. very beautifully produced. It's like we got to hang out with you.
Spectacular video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
WOW that was spectacular!! Thank you so pumped to get out there.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
great video! Greetings from Romania!
Nice video Mike.!!
Great video, greetings from the Netherlands
You might need to invest in an anamorphic lens. I'd like to see more videos like this. Great music selection too. OB Member.
Oh man, don’t temp me! $$$
Here I am, watching another dude doing the thing I NEED to do, in the comfort of my living room stating,”One day…”
Dam, dude…..dam. 🥲🤟
👊🏼
From semi pro RUclipsr to Novice film maker.......Well done. There I was waiting for you to start a 50 point turn around on the rim of the canyon. ;) . Great FILM, keep 'em coming.
🍻Thanks for this. Loved the wide aspect lens. Please, keep doing what you have been, and add this kind of stuff from time to time.
More to come!
Wonderful! Great episode and man that lens is nice!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Can you please share the lens details?
fun stuff, enjoyed the video!
Awesome, thank you!
Great video Michael. I was sad to see the Raptor run into problems on the earlier video but that is always a potential. Keep up the great work. Definately a different experience when one sets out to make a movie instead of documenting your trip with buddies.
Great vid Michael. i love the Moab area and hope to get there soon. My LandCruiser is 11 years older than yours, no electronics. Just upgrading 37 years of old parts. thanks
Michael, this was awesome. I like all your vids but this was different. It was like I was there with you and the tips and tricks were very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
More Please!
Yay!
Hi Michael,
OB#0749 here. Nice vid., I appreiciate the solo trip as I'm solo and full time now. Sage advice. I've done my share of rookie mistakes, fortunately never got bit. No more risk taking, at least the dumb kind. Retired, but not looking for my journey to end soon. Thanks for your work, as my OB# reveals, been a member for a while. Not real media savy, so you won't hear from me much. I do follow y'all tho! Thanks again.
really enjoyed this. I am in England and have an old Gen 2 Pajero (Montero?) in the US, the 2.8td. Simple stuff and simple gear.... i like your style of more laid back, actual out and about videos rather than those showing the latest rigs, most expensive etc parts and equipment.... keep up the good work, which i know isnt quick and simple to film
Ok Michael, here it comes. #1 is Corey ok? #2 Great video. Not many out there about solo travel, been doing it now for four years and yes I have taken the "easy" trail three/four/five times. When alone you truly think hard about getting out too. At seventy years of age one keeps it all in prospects . Great video! #21998
Nice broo 👍
Thank you! 👊🏼👍🏼
Great video Michael. Don’t know what the development costs would be, but as a new member of the Overland Bound community, would love to have the app available on Apple CarPlay. 😊
On the roadmap!
Awesome!
Hey Mikey! I liked the video very very much. Very informative and entertaining, too. The wide aspect ratio lens, Is the "Bee's Knees"....
Mikey, did you replace the "Engine Management Module"??? and back on the road, again??? thank you for sharing. Cheers, Mate.
Not yet! Still hunting that down!
Great video. Curious, was Spring Canyon infested with nighttime mice like how White Rim is?
No - but MANY places have field mice that LOVE to get inside your vehicle. One tip - leave your hood open so its not a warm place :)
I’ve told people for 20 yrs pictures and GoPros can’t do Moab, Monument Valley, Colorado and etc justice.
Reminded me of The Magnificent Seven moment when asked “Where ya from? … Where ya headed?” 😎🍷🛻🇺🇸
Holy shit snacks…….this is the best you’ve done yet! …….OB #2612
Awesom scenery. Was it Spring Canyon?
YES! 👊🏼👍🏼
3:45 Legend has it the anamorphic lens is still capturing that spot in Utah.
:D
❤
👍🏻
I just found your channel and you've probably answered this question at one time. The electric pump/ faucet you have on you water can. Where did you get that from? Is there a link I can go to?
Yes! It is a Dometic water container and faucet.
BTW, is there going to be any OB merch sales coming up?
Yes. :)
@@corriem2546 Any hints on when😉
Mike - what's your average miles per new BFG KO2s (i.e. before you have to replace the tires)?
Bout 50k
Curious. Make and model of your rig? Thanks man
1996 FZJ80 Land Cruiser
San Diegans wear flip flops any where any environment.
In case i missed it in the video, what anamorphic lens did you rent? Also fun tip, Sirui, Great Joy, and Laowa all have recently started coming out with anamorphic lenses under $2k. They're finally becoming affordable :D
I went with the Vazen 50mm
