I feel like people really misread Him calling the squad funeral prep as having no faith in Ikkaku. He wasn't sure if he was going to use Bankai or not when he called it in. After the battle when he say's I knew you would live, that was after Ikakku had used Bankai. Feel like the pretty boy always cops too much heat in these eps. He's a real one lol

Yachiru is a powerful fighter (possibly the 2nd strongest lieutenant), but nobody wants to be around when she is fighting because, if she lost and were killed, Kenpachi would go absolutely nuclear. You've seen happy Kenpachi fighting because it's fun and holding back--imagine berserk pissed off Kenpachi...
Bleach anime ended with so many questions that many people started hating it but the final arc does a good job at telling all the loop holes that makes it soo much better. Thank god these guys don't need to wait 10 years for anime continuation.
Some things to note is that Ikkaku could have definitely beat Ichigo in their first encounter if he didn't hold himself back and I think it is also the amount of respect Ikakku gained for Kenpachi that rather than beating him he would rather serve and be under his wing for the rest of his life, hence why he would want to fight under him and die an honorable death
no he would of lose either way since ichigo would of gotten the Renji fight boost. Base Renji was stronger than Shikai Ikkaku as seen in canon meaning Shikai Renji would be on par with Bankai Ikkaku and Renji still got 1 shot and had his sword broken by Ichigo. Ikkaku gets wake up call from Iba during the FKT arc, the reason ikkaku hides his Bankai is because he thinks he would be made captains the problem here is he is arrogant to think that, a captain is not just a shinigami that has bankai but requires Grade 3 Reaitsu which ikkaku is nowhere near. Ikkaku is like Renji but weaker they both have bankai but Renji has no problem showing it off because he knows he cant even beat Base Byakuya with it how can he serve as a damn captain.

Therefore if everyone knew he had a Bankai it would be easier for the Gotei 13 to pressure him to reach grade 3 reiatsu and learn kido than to pick an entirely new guy and teach him all the stuff. And I strongly disagree, at the point of the Invision Ikkaku was way stronger than Renji, he would definitely beat Ichigo with Bankai.
I think ichigo just blitzed him, his strength was on ikkakus level the whole fight, then he got serious and rose to captain level for his final attack that broke ikkakus Zanpacto

Bleach is a masterclass at developing side characters you can enjoy and care about. In a weird way by have so so many characters it basically means Kubo forced himself into a position he had to think out their interactions and stories with one another which in turn makes them so fleshed out just by knowing one another. As for naruto my fav part of Naruto is Sasuke shippuden. Each fight he had focused on technique and strategy because as cocky as he is, he still knew he was facing forces that should be out of his league. Seeing him struggle and push forward was great and the last bit of the feel of old naruto we got.
I was in the same boat as you when I first watched Bleach. I have no idea why Ikkaku yelling Bankai got me so emotional but I was silent screaming into my pillow at like 3am lol
Bleach is one of the few only Shonen that gives the spotlight to a lot of characters that aren't that close to the MC, there were very few 'throwaway' characters in comparison to others.
7:00 - Ichigo, Zaraki, Byakuya all defeat Kaname Tōsen. Ichigo is the fastest, Zaraki is the strongest and toughest, Byakuya doesn't have to be able to see for his blades to defend and attack. Most lieutenants don't have bankai actually, Renji trained around Ichigo to rush and learn bankai...Ikkaku knows bankai but wants to remain in squad 11 as a fighter, so he hides his bankai in order to not move up from the 3rd seat. Ikkaku loves squad 11 and Zaraki, he wants to die a warrior's death and he knows that squad 11 is where he can do that. He isn't seeking death, he is seeking battles where his life is on the line.
ikkau taught renji to say his name in death match and when renji meet ichigo and others he says his name and that he is gonna kill him, it's kinda wholesome renji still remember ikkau teachings

Same with Yachiru, whom he found in the District called Kusajishi. When Renji, Momo and Izuru all graduated from the academy, Aizen drafted all 3 of them into 5th Division. Since Renji was rebellious and got into fights, he transferred him to 11th Division, where he rose up to 6th Seat before being promoted to Byakuya's Lieutenant in 6th Division. Tetsuzaemon Iba, the gangster-shades-wearing lieutenant of 7th Division under Sajin Komamura (the Wolf Captain), was also in 11th Division before, probably a friend of Renji's at the time, and was promoted to 7th Division Lieutenant roughly the same time as Renji. Wait till the "Turn Back the Pendulum" arc and see how advantages a person gets by cutting off an opponents 5 senses.
Yea, it's like, Kenpachi has a particular way of fighting that Ichigo doesn't replicate, and that's really the only reason why he figured out how to "counter" Tosen's Bankai. Well, that and the fact that Tosen's Bankai conveniently removes every other sense but touch (seriously, why would it even function like that?) Like, you have to have this particular fearlessness of not being slashed, and instinctive reaction timing to pull off what Kenpachi did (well and Tosen fucking around instead of going for the finishing blow immediately), and I don't see Ichigo pulling that off.
The Zaraki in kenpachi's name is the district he is from, hence Kenpachi OF Zaraki, he just chose it as a name since he didnt have one and he even gave Yachiru her name.
Everyone can find one bleach character that resonates with them. That's a sign of good writing. My favourite characters are Urahara, ikkaku, and gin ichimaru.
Zaraki is the district in Rukongai that Kenpachi came from. Everyone in Soul Society arrives without knowing their identity. There are some exceptions, and some people remember their previous lives, but most people pretty much start life a-new there.
Kenpachi grew up without a name, he didnt name himself until after he met Yachiru, he is the Kenpachi from the village called Zaraki, hence the “of” in his name.
It's been years when I first watch Bleach and I recently just rewatch it but I will never forget Ikakku's Bankai. It's literally one of the best moments in the whole series!
I really like this flashback. We learn more about the fun and enjoyment of fighting, which is sometimes all they have. The honor of squad 11 and of the shinigami in general is very important, and being lucky enough to continue living another day is something they don't have to question, but be grateful for. We learn that both ikkaku and renji have the same goal for different reasons. But more important is what that goal of surpassing Kenpachi and Byakuya becomes, and that is loyalty.
Squad 11 is such a weird squad. They're all about strength, but then the Lieutenant practically never fights, and Yumichika calling Ikkaku second strongest suggests he's actually stronger than her. And then every major member of the squad hides their true power, just for their own selfish enjoyment/fun/goals. They're all about strength, and they all enjoy fighting, but all of them restrict themselves (and sometimes lose because of it) for entirely selfish reasons. Also I love the way Ikkaku screams Bankai. It's the most insane BANKAIYYAAH yell, and probably my favorite release other than Mayuri's very smarmy almost whispery one. Also the way Byakuya just says it all cool and collected.
Yumechika is one of the most underrated characters ever he doesn’t get the to shine like the rest do but he makes up for it with the few fights he us I. Can’t wait for y’all to see his true sword

Within the Rukongai there's the Zaraki district where's he's from & he was so strong he gave himself the name of Kenpachi of Zaraki. Somewhere along the way mfs just started calling this dude Zaraki Kenpachi as if it's his name. We may never know who he truly is.
Imagine kenpachi knew his swords name (also he has one of my favorite releases in the show) in the soul society arc (spolier ichigo most likely would have dies even if he doesn't use his shiki). Ikaku has one of my favorite bankai moments in the entire series it is a shame that he basically has to limit himself due to how squad 11 is. For yachiru i dont really know much about her strength but i know se is strong

You guys are downplaying Tousen quite hard.. Kenpachi was the worst posible match up for him.. Tousen bankai is very nasty..and he's rolling with Aizen..
I think what made Kenpachi a bad match-up for Tosen was the fact that Tosen's fucking around after initiating Bankai gave Kenpachi enough time to "counter" it. Like, if Tosen just went for the kill immediately after activation, instead of using less lethal strikes while talking, he could have killed Kenpachi. He had the opportunity to kill Kenpachi right when Kenpachi had absolutely no idea what was going on, but he didn't take it and decided to boast instead. Dumb.
of zaraki is what ppl used to do in the past. its where hes from. a good example is leonardo da vinci. da vinci is where hes from not a actual last name. only people ofd wealth had last names. people just had first names and if someone else had the same name, people would use the place their from as a last name.
I love the bankai reveal, but I feel like it might've had more impact if Ikkaku had died. Not that I want him to, but I think it would've emphasized the danger of the Arrancars a bit more.
Ichigo gets negged on by technical fighter. Think about it. All of ichigos fights are against brawlers and traditional fights. He doesn't go against Mayuri, Tosen, Kira, or Shinji. When he does go against a technical fighter in the Manga, he gets clapped. I think Tosen takes the win against Ichigo
Ikkaku's Bankai is pretty cool, but after knowing all the other one of the show, he is probably the second or 3rd least powerful...It's too slow to get full power for the amount of damage it's doing...It's still an amazing one however that fits with his fighting style !!

6:00 here your arguments, 1- Kenpachi didn't dodge any attack from within not even the ones aimed to vital spots 2- Almost all his slashes had come from a low angle guting the super hard ground thus reducing the strength and speed of each blow. 3- the eyepatch severely reduced his spiritual pressure most of his fight (speed, power, resistence etc). 4- Also the damage recived reduces you won output, so the damaged carried from 1 and 3 afected his output, so his last 100% no holding back serious atack was actualy nowere near close to his 100%. 5- "but ichigo was damaged too" actualy there is a trick to ignore that but to explain that wold be spoiler.just understand that ichigo wounds don't affect negatively his last blow with kenpachi. Kenpachi admitting defeat was more a honor thing that a real statement. something like if you lose because the handicaps that you put itself you cant use then as excuse for losing
For the whole Tosen thing. It entirely depends. If immediately activated bankai & just went for the kill ASAP instead of gloating he can mop up a good chunk of Bleach characters. Only reason Zaraki son the fight because Tosen kept fooling around which gave Zaraki all the time in the world to figure out what to do. Ichigo especially during SS arc will get wrecked by a Bloodlusted Tosen if he truly wanted to body Ichigo.
Let me kick it to you like this, first of all, No Adorkable Ichigo would not be able to cut the dome with or without Bankai simply because he doesn't know theres a dome to begin with so there's that. Secondly, now that yall are out of SS arc I can tell you Ichigo would get his pockets ran by just about every captain Bankai or no Bankai fr. He can probably beat maybe 2 or 3 of them and even thats a stretch. Soi Fon he could probably beat with Bankai, Mayuri is a big MAYBE because he has lots of tomfoolery to use, and Komamura just because his bankai is also a weakness for him but he can take lots of hits cause he's a big ol fox. The other 10 Captains are FOLDING Ichigo no difficulty, and I do mean all of them
Bruh Mayuri at this point is literally top 3 in strength, the item Uryu used to beat Mayuri brought out his full potential, meaning in that one moment, Uryu was as strong if not stronger than he is in the final arc, Aizen, Yamamoto, and Unohana are the only captains who couldve survived that besides Mayuri, and Aizen is no longer a captain at this point.

Yea, it's like, Kenpachi has a particular way of fighting that Ichigo doesn't replicate, and that's really the only reason why he figured out how to "counter" Tosen's Bankai. Well, that and the fact that Tosen's Bankai conveniently removes every other sense but touch (seriously, why would it even function like that?) Like, you have to have this particular fearlessness of not being slashed, and instinctive reaction timing to pull off what Kenpachi did (well and Tosen fucking around instead of going for the finishing blow immediately), and I don't see Ichigo pulling that off.
The Zaraki in kenpachi's name is the district he is from, hence Kenpachi OF Zaraki, he just chose it as a name since he didnt have one and he even gave Yachiru her name.
I feel genuinely ashamed.

That's a sign of good writing. My favourite characters are Urahara, ikkaku, and gin ichimaru.
Zaraki is the district in Rukongai that Kenpachi came from. Everyone in Soul Society arrives without knowing their identity. There are some exceptions, and some people remember their previous lives, but most people pretty much start life a-new there.

Kenpachi grew up without a name, he didnt name himself until after he met Yachiru, he is the Kenpachi from the village called Zaraki, hence the “of” in his name.
It's been years when I first watch Bleach and I recently just rewatch it but I will never forget Ikakku's Bankai. It's literally one of the best moments in the whole series!

At least in this series anyway. Bleach doesn't work exactly like DragonBall in terms of power scaling.

I really like this flashback. We learn more about the fun and enjoyment of fighting, which is sometimes all they have. The honor of squad 11 and of the shinigami in general is very important, and being lucky enough to continue living another day is something they don't have to question, but be grateful for. We learn that both ikkaku and renji have the same goal for different reasons. But more important is what that goal of surpassing Kenpachi and Byakuya becomes, and that is loyalty.
Kenpachi is just the title given to captain of 11th squad... his name is just Zaraki

Squad 11 is such a weird squad. They're all about strength, but then the Lieutenant practically never fights, and Yumichika calling Ikkaku second strongest suggests he's actually stronger than her. And then every major member of the squad hides their true power, just for their own selfish enjoyment/fun/goals. They're all about strength, and they all enjoy fighting, but all of them restrict themselves (and sometimes lose because of it) for entirely selfish reasons.
Also I love the way Ikkaku screams Bankai. It's the most insane BANKAIYYAAH yell, and probably my favorite release other than Mayuri's very smarmy almost whispery one. Also the way Byakuya just says it all cool and collected.

@37:20 yea who we know we Kenpachi was basically some nameless bloodthirsty bum in the poor & underprivileged Rukongai Area. Within the Rukongai there's the Zaraki district where's he's from & he was so strong he gave himself the name of Kenpachi of Zaraki. Somewhere along the way mfs just started calling this dude Zaraki Kenpachi as if it's his name. We may never know who he truly is.
Imagine kenpachi knew his swords name (also he has one of my favorite releases in the show) in the soul society arc (spolier ichigo most likely would have dies even if he doesn't use his shiki). Ikaku has one of my favorite bankai moments in the entire series it is a shame that he basically has to limit himself due to how squad 11 is. For yachiru i dont really know much about her strength but i know se is strong

You guys are downplaying Tousen quite hard.. Kenpachi was the worst posible match up for him.. Tousen bankai is very nasty..and he's rolling with Aizen..
I think what made Kenpachi a bad match-up for Tosen was the fact that Tosen's fucking around after initiating Bankai gave Kenpachi enough time to "counter" it. Like, if Tosen just went for the kill immediately after activation, instead of using less lethal strikes while talking, he could have killed Kenpachi. He had the opportunity to kill Kenpachi right when Kenpachi had absolutely no idea what was going on, but he didn't take it and decided to boast instead. Dumb.
of zaraki is what ppl used to do in the past. its where hes from. a good example is leonardo da vinci. da vinci is where hes from not a actual last name. only people ofd wealth had last names. people just had first names and if someone else had the same name, people would use the place their from as a last name.

I love the bankai reveal, but I feel like it might've had more impact if Ikkaku had died. Not that I want him to, but I think it would've emphasized the danger of the Arrancars a bit more.
Ichigo gets negged on by technical fighter. Think about it. All of ichigos fights are against brawlers and traditional fights. He doesn't go against Mayuri, Tosen, Kira, or Shinji. When he does go against a technical fighter in the Manga, he gets clapped. I think Tosen takes the win against Ichigo

Ikkaku's Bankai is pretty cool, but after knowing all the other one of the show, he is probably the second or 3rd least powerful...It's too slow to get full power for the amount of damage it's doing...It's still an amazing one however that fits with his fighting style !!

This was the best bleach arc, the arrancars saga.
6:00 here your arguments,
1- Kenpachi didn't dodge any attack from within not even the ones aimed to vital spots
2- Almost all his slashes had come from a low angle guting the super hard ground thus reducing the strength and speed of each blow.
3- the eyepatch severely reduced his spiritual pressure most of his fight (speed, power, resistence etc).
4- Also the damage recived reduces you won output, so the damaged carried from 1 and 3 afected his output, so his last 100% no holding back serious atack was actualy nowere near close to his 100%.
5- "but ichigo was damaged too" actualy there is a trick to ignore that but to explain that wold be spoiler.just understand that ichigo wounds don't affect negatively his last blow with kenpachi.
Kenpachi admitting defeat was more a honor thing that a real statement. something like if you lose because the handicaps that you put itself you cant use then as excuse for losing
For the whole Tosen thing. It entirely depends. If immediately activated bankai & just went for the kill ASAP instead of gloating he can mop up a good chunk of Bleach characters. Only reason Zaraki son the fight because Tosen kept fooling around which gave Zaraki all the time in the world to figure out what to do. Ichigo especially during SS arc will get wrecked by a Bloodlusted Tosen if he truly wanted to body Ichigo.
Let me kick it to you like this, first of all, No Adorkable Ichigo would not be able to cut the dome with or without Bankai simply because he doesn't know theres a dome to begin with so there's that. Secondly, now that yall are out of SS arc I can tell you Ichigo would get his pockets ran by just about every captain Bankai or no Bankai fr. He can probably beat maybe 2 or 3 of them and even thats a stretch. Soi Fon he could probably beat with Bankai, Mayuri is a big MAYBE because he has lots of tomfoolery to use, and Komamura just because his bankai is also a weakness for him but he can take lots of hits cause he's a big ol fox. The other 10 Captains are FOLDING Ichigo no difficulty, and I do mean all of them
Bruh Mayuri at this point is literally top 3 in strength, the item Uryu used to beat Mayuri brought out his full potential, meaning in that one moment, Uryu was as strong if not stronger than he is in the final arc, Aizen, Yamamoto, and Unohana are the only captains who couldve survived that besides Mayuri, and Aizen is no longer a captain at this point.
