    This is Nitika Thakur starting HP gk series in which we will cover hp geography, art and culture of Himachal Pradesh , administration of himachal Pradesh, ancient medivial and modern history of himachal Pradesh.
    Mahan Chand has the longest time period of about 46 years . Mahan Chand was very young at the time of demise of his father then administration was handled by Rani Nagar Devi.
    In 1790 due to non seriousness of raja 12 thakuraies released themselves. In 1795 Sansar Chand attacked on bilaspur and built Chhatipur fort.
    Mahan Chand invited gorkha commander Amar Singh Thapa to help him then the battle was fought between Amar Singh Thapa and Sansar Chand at Mehalmoriya place called Mehalmoriya battle.
    Bilaspur ramain under gorkha till 1814.
    On 6march 1815 bilaspur came under Britishers.
    Aanand Chand was the last raja of BILASPUR. He abolished child marriage and Begar system , built guru Gopalji temple etc.
    After the Independence of India bilaspur became the chief commissioner province on 15 August 1948 and Aanand Chand became 1st chief commissioner of BILASPUR on 12 October 1948.
