Exactly, I've said the same thing. Henry isn't gay, so if there's even an option for it I'm done and washing my hands of this game. Why pander? Why give the option? It makes zero sense for the game to do this other than for external pressure. Especially when they promoted this game as being anti-woke. It's not like I haven't played games that I've loved and enjoyed that have this option, but this just doesn't seem right for Henry or KDC2.

Warhorse already had over representation for the period of gays. It was so taboo that it would have been rare for anybody to knowingly see a gay. But somehow Henry sees three in one game and becomes gay somehow in the next game? Warhorse is pandering. Then they force a black guy into medieval Bohemia by some contrivance.
Thats why RPGs are not for everyone, the game is made so u decide. Everything is historically accurate, even the fact that u can be gay. In reality u could, thats all that matters when it comes to rpgs.
IMO, it's already a huge mistake to give Henry the option to have homosexual relationships. It's just as narratively wrong as giving that option to Kratos or Geralt. Neither of those characters have shown any romantic interest in men in their previous games. It's obvious that this was put in the game to please the rainbow crowd... :/
The only way I would be OK with an option to do that is if it's known that option will give you an instant death by the mob or disease. In The Witcher, I decided not to snitch on that guy suffering from a “private life” because he didn’t want others to know.
Exactly! It is wrong to have him suddenly possibly be homosexual. Right from the start of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Henry is shown to have romantic interests in the girl working at the local pub. Not some guy around the village. He isn't even shown to be completely neutral to romance. Henry is a set character more or less. This isn't like Skyrim where the player character is a complete blank slate in every way. Even in Mass Effect, since the video brings it up, the character is pretty blank slate where you choose what your Shepard is like.

You literally can't trust if they are telling the truth or not. If they go woke willingly, they would say "no one forced me". If they go woke unwillingly, but fear the consequences from speaking out(loss of funding, black listed from certain companies, dragged through the mud by the media, etc), they would say "no one forced me".

I don't understand why there has to be gay romance at-all. First off, Henry is not "you" in the way that "you" are your character in Cyberpunk or your Shepard in Mass Effect. Its more on-rails like a JRPG. So for Henry to have his own immutable canon is not some weird thing. It is expected. And just in terms of historical accuracy: gay stuff wasn't accepted back then. There's no reason to include an option that would represent like... fewer than 1 in 1000 people (Except to appease the "modern audience"). I play Kingdom Come to have an authentic representation of the life of a soldier of Bohemia back then. Not some "its so hard to be gay in medieval times" sob story. The same goes for the black character. Its just unnecessary. And I think that Vavre is doing it to be "based". In the same way that he made the gays in the original villains, the black guy is also a villain in KCD2. It also shows that he's outcast and disrespected. I think that Vavre is trying to show the wokies who came after him with their fake historians after KCD1, insisting that "Bohemia was diverse (and if it wasn't, he should engage in historical revisionism anyway)". So he made a character like they said, to show the Wokoids how the people of the day would have treated a black guy. Similarly, from what Vavre said, I feel like there are some loaded words about possible consequences for taking the gay romance option. Like... you can be gay, but you might get branded (or worse) if people find out. Once again: to 'own' the wokies, and demonstrate the historical intolerance back then. Here's my problem with this: he's reacting to them. These things might be added to "show" the modern audience, but it fundamentally comes down to this: he added these things because of the modern audience, even if it's supposed to "pwn" them. And that is immersion-breaking. I refunded my KCD2: Gold Edition last night. Maybe I'm holding Warhorse to a higher standard than I would for Larien Studios - and that is true. When I buy a Larien game, I expect modern audience crap. When I buy Warhorse, I expect none of that. Basedness was part of their brand . And now I can't trust their brand anymore.

You know what is makes it even funnier? A decade earlier they said, they didn't put any black characters in the game because its 1400s Europe and there were no in the region, hell I have seen them refusing to add types of armor because it wasn't historically accurate. Now the second game that is still in the same time line suddenly its ok to have a token black character and lets add in some extra homosexuality. Just because the black guy is very nice and likeable and the gay stuff is optional doesn't mean it wasn't deliberately put into the game.
If Henry didn't have an optional homo relationship in the first, then why add it in the sequel? This was pushed by their garbage publisher to be included, probably. I'm not sure why this guy is still defending the game...
They're not stupid. After what happened with the first game they must have known full well that adding these things would make it look like they're pandering, no matter if it was done on their own initiative, requested by the publisher or whatever. There were really only one "right" way to deal with this, but they chose not to do that.
I thought their studio was called "Warhorse" but it turns out it's just a "Whorehouse"... I was a psycho fan of Witcher 1, 2, 3, and Kingdom 1, and that's where it ends. I'm not going to play Kingdom 2 nor Witcher 4, one can guess that it will only be a disappointment. Still have big hopes for The Blood of Dawnwalker from Rebel Wolves let's hope they don't go with the mainstream too.

I sincerely doubt that's the route KCD2 is on. The first games was incredible and the second one looks like a direct successor. Idgaf if there is a random gay scene. I'll skip it. Almost 600 hours on the first here, and I say you people are bloating it out of proportions. Gay Henry looks like a stupid decision for me? Yes. This means those 2 details ruin all of the game? Hell, no. Musa isn't even a problem for me, his asshattery looks on character.

If there was a gay scene revolving around other characters in the game and you can decide to either help them or do something else entirely, like with novice Lucas in the first game that would make sense, but making Henry gay for some shity reason doesn't make any sense at all. It feels like pandering to modern audiences. Henry isin't a blank slate he already has a backstory.
It may not even mean he is gay. I've known lots of dudes from college to mess around with another man just because they were drunk or curious. Most regretted it afterwards, but one encounter wouldn't make them or Henry gay.

So, let me get this straight: Vavra played this "no black people in bohemia" thing (which was true) to then add specifically a BLACK person (not asian, not arab, you get the idea) into the game, which checks the box for POC. Then there's also a choice to make Henry gay who is a predefined character but it's tooooootally optional so that one doesn't count. So it checks the rgba+ checkbox too. All of this was kept behind 10 doors up until some rumors surfaced and the drama began. Then all this mumbling about "well the vision is there from the start", "don't believe the internet", and of course, the preemptive steam forum rules update (to repel the bigots you see). Now, after all this nonsense, Vavra confirms everything only because he was basically forced to and not because he decided players should know about certain things because that would damage his "based" persona he's been building all these years. He probably wanted to sneak that in without anyone noticing (not sure how people wouldn't notice an option to bang a guy but whatever). Also, 5 seconds of say gex (optional btw, did u know?) is a definition of tokenism. Let's just add it there because we need to add it. Not because we really care about representation or because we're so deeply invested in the tragic history of the lives of lgbt people. And it's not even some side character, it's the main character. In the end, he bent the knee. Doesn't matter how little or how optional, it's still there. And the most disgusting part is playing one thing publicly while sneaking in the same things you are criticizing. All the Warhorse's devs had to do is be clear from the beginning, instead of being afraid of both sides of this cultural tug-of-war: inform the users there's a very discreet option, almost an Easter egg, where the character shows a gay tendency, following the historical records of the period and the secrecy this entailed, and the player will have to seek it to find out. Almost as the third option in Skyrim's political landscape - the Truce between Imperials and Nords - that you don't know about it unless, like me, you decide to seek around the Web to find out if it exists. Or the choice to fuck a bear in Baldur's Gate 3, it's there but you don't have to go for it. As any relationship, it's the cowardice and the secrecy that spoil things.

Ok, but the problem doesn't lie with having a gay character, everyone knows that the villain is gay since the first game and no one has problems with it, it's not like medieval times didn't have homossexual people. The problems lies with a canonically heterossexual character suddenly being turned into a bissexual or whatever, what's the problem with having a mainly heterossexual character nowadays why does every character needs to cater to every sexuality. It doesn't matter if the game isn't woke or anything of the sort, the damage is already done and I can't look at the game the same way as before. They lied to us and were probably hoping to hide this until release. I never pre order games and always go with the mentality of wait and see and I'll be definitely doing that for KCD2. Well if the devs are coming from a based position, it's better to do it this way for player attention. More options and paths to take and it can make the game better.
I'll go ahead and say it again but this is why I always keep low expectations (not standards) and never pre-order anything. All you're giving them is 2 days of early access to your wallet for some horse testicle armor and a bonus quest teaching you the origins of gonorrhea.. which they always end up giving you a chance to get later on anyway.. just wait and watch a before you buy so you don't end up getting duped. Young people are going to struggle with the wisdom and patience to not continuously make this mistake, but some never learn anyway.

its all true, except its artistic decision instead of DEI decision. Its RPG, so you choose what happens to the characters. Cyberpunk, Baldurs Gate 3 both have the same options, don't see why KCD can't have the same for the 0.01% of people that will play it and want it. This just doesn’t make sense though…. It made sense in something like Cyberpunk where the “V” character is completely your own customized character. Henry’s fate, personality, and characterization is not customizable, so why the hell can we choose his sexuality all of a sudden?
Did we play the same game? You absolutely choose how Henry acts, his fate in multiple quests, etc. You can make him a criminal, a boy scout. Whatever you want. And remember you can choose to sleep with two different women (and how many whores you want) so choosing who you romance isn't a big deal. Even trying to make the argument about his sexuality doesn't make sense because who knows the actual in game context for a potential same sex relationship?

I imagine it would be extremely, but not impossible. They likely were looking to add some diversity, true, but I think white people no longer want to consider diversity exists apart from forced diversity. I don't think this will help those gamers in the long run if they only except what is more common over exceptions.

People were concerned there may be gay content. The dev was intentionally vague about it at first and then admitted that there was in fact this content. I'm not sure why you would expect that this information was meant to alleviate players concerns?
Its because him and a lot of the other people who cover this stuff are super excited for KCD2, already having a favorable view on it and are able to look past this. We need to remember however is that it was small blemishes like this that lead us to where the industry ended up over the past 10+ years
The underLYING point here is the dev’s would have never utter a word about this unless it was leaked. They intentionally hid this from their player base for as long as they could.

We need to make sure that we never give an inch and lose a mile or this entire situation will just go on longer and longer. Dude, only in BG you have a character creator, you create this character for yourself and play this character as if you were him. There are no options imposed from above that it has to be like this, you want to play as a straight person, you want to play as a gay person, then play. It's a diametrical difference. BG3 most certainly is that type of game. The only saving grace is that NPCs are not invincible, which allows the player to excise the undesirable elements. Still, the character creator nonsense is unavoidable.

I don't see a problem with the single black guy. In medieval Europe he would have been treated like a curiosity. And if he is a soldier of the Ottoman Empire, which the Habsburg dynasty waged war against (see "Long Turkish war"), it is quite plausible for him to be there.

You missed the point. The first game had no option to romance same sex characters. Why?... because Henry was always shown as hetero. So the option to be gay doesn't fit his character. I canceled my pre-order to KCD2 not so much because of the inclusion of the black character or gay optional Henry, but because of the shadiness of the director waiting so long to confirm everything as well as it is 100% pandering or bending the knee. BG3 was just a game with options and it literally has elves and dragonborn in it. It doesn't pander to anyone and never marketed itself as one thing or another just Divinity in D&D skin, plus your character is basically a blank slate. KCD2 is restricted to the world of KCD1 or at least it should be , it makes zero sense that everything is now turned upside down.

IMO, it's already a huge mistake to give Henry the option to have homosexual relationships. It's just as narratively wrong as giving that option to Kratos or Geralt. Exactly! It is wrong to have him suddenly possibly be homosexual. Right from the start of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Henry is shown to have romantic interests in the girl working at the local pub. Not some guy around the village. He isn't even shown to be completely neutral to romance. Henry is a set character more or less. This isn't like Skyrim where the player character is a complete blank slate in every way. Even in Mass Effect, since the video brings it up, the character is pretty blank slate where you choose what your Shepard is like.

I don't understand why there has to be gay romance at-all.
First off, Henry is not "you" in the way that "you" are your character in Cyberpunk or your Shepard in Mass Effect. Its more on-rails like a JRPG. So for Henry to have his own immutable canon is not some weird thing. It is expected.
And just in terms of historical accuracy: gay stuff wasn't accepted back then. There's no reason to include an option that would represent like... fewer than 1 in 1000 people (Except to appease the "modern audience").
I play Kingdom Come to have an authentic representation of the life of a soldier of Bohemia back then. Not some "its so hard to be gay in medieval times" sob story.
The same goes for the black character. Its just unnecessary.
And I think that Vavre is doing it to be "based". In the same way that he made the gays in the original villains, the black guy is also a villain in KCD2. It also shows that he's outcast and disrespected. I think that Vavre is trying to show the wokies who came after him with their fake historians after KCD1, insisting that "Bohemia was diverse (and if it wasn't, he should engage in historical revisionism anyway)". So he made a character like they said, to show the Wokoids how the people of the day would have treated a black guy.
Similarly, from what Vavre said, I feel like there are some loaded words about possible consequences for taking the gay romance option. Like... you can be gay, but you might get branded (or worse) if people find out. Once again: to 'own' the wokies, and demonstrate the historical intolerance back then.
Here's my problem with this: he's reacting to them. These things might be added to "show" the modern audience, but it fundamentally comes down to this: he added these things because of the modern audience, even if it's supposed to "pwn" them. And that is immersion-breaking.
I refunded my KCD2: Gold Edition last night. Maybe I'm holding Warhorse to a higher standard than I would for Larien Studios - and that is true. When I buy a Larien game, I expect modern audience crap. When I buy Warhorse, I expect none of that. Basedness was part of their brand . And now I can't trust their brand anymore.
Historial accuracy or not, the decision was made deliberately to put it into the game.

If there was a gay scene revolving around other characters in the game and you can decide to either help them or do something else entirely, like with novice Lucas in the first game that would make sense, but making Henry gay for some shity reason doesn't make any sense at all. It feels like pandering to modern audiences. Henry isin't a blank slate he already has a backstory.
It may not even mean he is gay. I've known lots of dudes from college to mess around with another man just because they were drunk or curious. Most regretted it afterwards, but one encounter wouldn't make them or Henry gay.

I miss the the 90's and early 2ks. Just beautiful romance stories between a man and a woman in games and movies.
So, let me get this straight:
Vavra played this "no black people in bohemia" thing (which was true) to then add specifically a BLACK person (not asian, not arab, you get the idea) into the game, which checks the box for POC. Then there's also a choice to make Henry gay who is a predefined character but it's tooooootally optional so that one doesn't count. So it checks the rgba+ checkbox too.
All of this was kept behind 10 doors up until some rumors surfaced and the drama began. Then all this mumbling about "well the vision is there from the start", "don't believe the internet", and of course, the preemptive steam forum rules update (to repel the bigots you see).
Now, after all this nonsense, Vavra confirms everything only because he was basically forced to and not because he decided players should know about certain things because that would damage his "based" persona he's been building all these years. He probably wanted to sneak that in without anyone noticing (not sure how people wouldn't notice an option to bang a guy but whatever).
Also, 5 seconds of say gex (optional btw, did u know?) is a definition of tokenism. Let's just add it there because we need to add it. Not because we really care about representation or because we're so deeply invested in the tragic history of the lives of lgbt people. And it's not even some side character, it's the main character.
In the end, he bent the knee. Doesn't matter how little or how optional, it's still there. And the most disgusting part is playing one thing publicly while sneaking in the same things you are criticizing.

All the Warhorse's devs had to do is be clear from the beginning, instead of being afraid of both sides of this cultural tug-of-war: inform the users there's a very discreet option, almost an Easter egg, where the character shows a gay tendency, following the historical records of the period and the secrecy this entailed, and the player will have to seek it to find out. Almost as the third option in Skyrim's political landscape - the Truce between Imperials and Nords - that you don't know about it unless, like me, you decide to seek around the Web to find out if it exists. Or the choice to fuck a bear in Baldur's Gate 3, it's there but you don't have to go for it.
As any relationship, it's the cowardice and the secrecy that spoil things.

Ok, but the problem doesn't lie with having a gay character, everyone knows that the villain is gay since the first game and no one has problems with it, it's not like medieval times didn't have homossexual people. Well if the devs are coming from a based position, it's better to do it this way for player attention. More options and paths to take and it can make the game better.
I'll go ahead and say it again but this is why I always keep low expectations (not standards) and never pre-order anything. All you're giving them is 2 days of early access to your wallet for some horse testicle armor and a bonus quest teaching you the origins of gonorrhea.. which they always end up giving you a chance to get later on anyway.. just wait and watch a before you buy so you don't end up getting duped. Young people are going to struggle with the wisdom and patience to not continuously make this mistake, but some never learn anyway.

This just doesn’t make sense though…. It made sense in something like Cyberpunk where the “V” character is completely your own customized character. Henry’s fate, personality, and characterization is not customizable, so why the hell can we choose his sexuality all of a sudden?
Did we play the same game? You absolutely choose how Henry acts, his fate in multiple quests, etc. You can make him a criminal, a boy scout. Whatever you want. And remember you can choose to sleep with two different women (and how many whores you want) so choosing who you romance isn't a big deal. Even trying to make the argument about his sexuality doesn't make sense because who knows the actual in game context for a potential same sex relationship?

As more and more companies close down, we gain more and more ground. I won’t let vavre become a reason why we lose an inch just because he said he was with us, if he is willing to break out trust then it’s his own fault. At this point, Endymion etc, are just mouthpieces who are lukewarm on their convictions so it’s us who need to actually put our foot down and say no. If I’m honest, KCD2 looked really good, but I’m so used to avoiding games that are injected with all of this that it’s become easy to just remove all interest and refuse to ever buy it.

I don't see a problem with the single black guy. In medieval Europe he would have been treated like a curiosity. And if he is a soldier of the Ottoman Empire, which the Habsburg dynasty waged war against (see "Long Turkish war"), it is quite plausible for him to be there.
Forced diversity is highly subjective but having to justify out of context characters and or characteristics in a medieval setting is *EXTREMELY* forced. DEI worming it's way through an industry doesn't have to be forced, it happened.

We know there are other alphabet characters- they were bad guys and yes, alphabets happened back there in taboo situations.
The devs were secretive and coy, as you said. They needed to be honest- but I’ve seen tons of people say their issue is with Henry suddenly being changed. This is wokeism creeping in. If they want to fix consumer trust, especially to the legacy fans and players, they need to patch out the alphabet romance choice for Henry.
I had the collector’s edition in my cart to support them for being based and respecting is. We still will play- but we’ve downgraded to the base game.
As for the black guy - literally no one is upset. They were rare and characters can react accordingly. The fact that they pulled a Marvel with Henry is the line in the sand.
Being mad for rpg giving you life like options is insane, like you don't have to choose it and still have authentic historical good gameplay experience. I think it was star field. I also think in endymions case it’s less bend the knee to the corpos and more fan of a certain project or studios gets so exited for a potential release that they over look the first initial signs.

You missed the point. The first game had no option to romance same sex characters. Why?... because Henry was always shown as hetero. So the option to be gay doesn't fit his character. Imagine a slow character now given the option to run like bolt. It makes no sense because that is something you don't choose. Same with sex preference.
Couple that it doesn't fit with the character with that the alphabet crowd has insisted 100% of everything always be about them for the last 10 years, and the slippery slope has become so bad that they're after kids, looking to fire people who won't pretend to think a man in a woman is a dress, stealing women's scholarships, on and on. It's gone way, way, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY too FKing far, and nobody wants to tolerate things anymore that we might have let go a decade ago.
Henry wasn't just shown as hetero - the devs EXPLICITLY stated publicly that he was a straight, white, Christian man when some lefty asked for gay romance. They refused to add it on that basis, and said that Henry wasn't a blank state. Now they've done a total 180.

I canceled my pre-order to KCD2 not so much because of the inclusion of the black character or gay optional Henry, but because of the shadiness of the director waiting so long to confirm everything as well as it is 100% pandering or bending the knee. BG3 was just a game with options and it literally has elves and dragonborn in it. It doesn't pander to anyone and never marketed itself as one thing or another just Divinity in D&D skin, plus your character is basically a blank slate. KCD2 is restricted to the world of KCD1 or at least it should be , it makes zero sense that everything is now turned upside down.
Been looking forward to this game for months, for me the first game was as enjoyable as Red Dead Redempotion 2. I'm cancelling my pre-order tomorrow, making Henry gay even as an option is insulting to those of us who played the first one numerous times.
