your videos are my go to every time i doubt my knowledge on food photography (bcs i just started this hobby months ago so still new to this) and your chanel is just so underrated like srsly u deserve a million of subs!!!!
I knew how to fix images using the spot healing brush, but I'm so glad I watched this video because I had never experimented with the darken and lighten options! Changes the game. :)
Awesome tool to add to the ol' mental tool bag! I can see where this technique would up the game of portrait photography, too, without destroying the integrity of the skin and making someone look "plastic". I'll be doing some product photography later today and this will certainly help me with the imperfections of manufactured glass vessels. Thanks, Joanie!!
such perfect timing, i'm just editing some photos of chocolates and one bar has a huge crack down the middle and i had no idea how to properly use photoshop! thanks joanie
Hi Joanie, Thanks for your video. For a beginner in food photography which editing software would you recommend: Ligthroom or Capture One? Lightroom seems to be very popular but Capture One allows tethering which is very useful... Is Capture One easy to use?
I like your channel a lot. Thanks for sharing all this useful tips and insights. I’m wondering if you are using bracketing in some of your photos to increase the sharpness with the beautiful fall off? I’m often struggling to get enough depth of field in a single picture
Your brush preview overlay is missing as well...thought I did something to break it, but it must be a bug in the Adobe Updates. I've been going crazy trying to figure out why! Good to know it's not just me 😌 but hope they fix it soon!
Great tips Joanie. I've been using the replace mode more in spot healing brush than normal near edges where there is a large contrast difference. Often in normal mode I would get "blooms" around the spot close to an edge, this doesn't seem to happen with replace.
Amazing too with the darken and lighten mode I’ve always been choosing the clone stamp tool if the healing brush did not work, but I this makes things so much easier. 🖖
I have taken a class in person (yes a few years ago) with Aaron (PHLEARN) and can't say enough good things. I also watch the PixImperfect channel and he is also great.

Belated happy birthday! Thanks for sharing your knowledge to us mere mortals.
Thanks friend!
Any recommendations for classes on just the retouching part?
waau!! great one! thank you Joanie! :)
Can u please do a video on how to get definition and specular highlights when shooting on white i feel that all the white flattens the image

Thanks, didn't know about changing the MODE. Good tips!
Really helps in the right situations!
Thanks for the tips. This will help with knowing what yo do when I get to lightroom. Amazing cupcakes 🤩

Definitely! I think more traditionally it's used as a skin retouching technique. Have a great shoot!
Lovely💙✨

Yep, I dug deep in the Googles and couldn't figure it out. Been hearing from a lot of folks about various issues as of late.
@@TheBiteShot Yes, same here. Really enjoy your work/content...very inspiring!
@@TheBiteShot They must've felt us talking about it because it's fixed in today's update for me!
Thank you so much :)
Needed this one

Great tip! Will try that out.
Hi Joanie,
How do you manage to do photography, vlogs and videos on your own?
Would you have any hints, tricks or workflows?

Little known fact about Jodi, the mole under her eye 👁 moves from the left eye to the right eye at random throughout this video! How cool is that!

Oh wow! That would be an amazing experience!
Thanks
I am your biggest fan
I wish there were less descriptions on youtube. Takes too much time and makes us skip to another video
I think I don’t have an eye for food photography. I mostly do it wrong. I wish I could see things differently and improve my photography skills
