Thumri - Chado Chado | Kalaa Utsavam 2020 Part I

Namaskar and hello everyone!
This video is part one of my performance as part of the Kalaa Utsavam Dance Stage LIVE open call which took place on 29th November 2020 at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Singapore. In it, I have performed a slightly different rendition of the thumri I performed for my Manch Pravesh in 2019. Below are the details of this piece:
A thumri is a Hindustani classical composition that describes the disposition of a nayika (the female heroine). This thumri is set to Raag Mishra Pahadi and Taal Dadra, and depicts the playful romance between Radha and Krishna, where she attempts to dissuade him from teasing her in front of the prying eyes of the public. The piece was choreographed by my Guru Jyotika Joshi who currently teaches at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS).
