      1. China has one base outside it while the US has 800 bases.
      2. China's last war was in 1979 when it aided cambodia and entered Vietnam territory for two to show support for its ally, the US according to data released by the US Congressional Research Service, from 1789 to 2022, the United States launched 469 military interventions overseas.
      3. China has 350 nuclear warheads while the US has 3,750 warheads.
      4. China has never sanctioned anyone except in retaliation while the US does it left and right.
      5. China has never done color revolution, coup d'etats while the US has done it so many times it's not even funny.

Interesting talk. However, although it might look balanced from a Western perspective, it isn't. Seems like the main purpose is to comfort an academic Western audience by trying to convince them that China isn't *that* threatening and apart from that Western security is always guaranteed by the nuclear option as ultima ratio. Not for a second they thought about how the West has been and still is the major threat to the rest of the world, especially to China most recently. Not for a second they thought about what should be done about it.

"The biggest democracy is India", this statement is wrong, basically, I only agree "The biggest country with election is India", because, 【Democracy is not equal to Election】, if Western people still think democracy is equal to election, anyone can tell me why you elected Hitler to lead Germany?
"the Communist party speaks of democracy as well", that's right, because Chinese philosopher started to talk about "democracy" around 2500 years ago, if I use western concept to describe what this Chinese philosopher said, he thought that "democracy" is 【of the people plus for the people】, that's the "democracy" in Chinese people's concept.

The rise of China is a blessing to the world especially the poor and undeveloped countries. Unlike the west China never use gun diplomacy and rob resources from them. China comes with real development of ports, railways, roads, telecommunications to boost the people standard of living and make them more prosperous. Poverty will be alleviated. When that is achieved there will be fewer conflicts or wars. That is China version of human rights contribution to the world. That is exactly what the west fears as they want to keep others poor and weak so they can manipulate to their whim and fancy. That is why they keep smearing China and suppressing China using all sorts of means but they will fail miserably.

Because India is poor and can never compete the west that is why they don't care about India whether it is a true or false democracy.
For example the west give us a headache by labeling Turkey as non democratic country (despite it is a clear democracy) and forgetting the military regime in Egypt.... it is simply because the regime in Turkey is strong enough to ignore western concerns whereas the Egyptian regime is a puppet regime came by coup supported by the US directly it is simply that they don't care about democracy as long as the regime is obeying them and follow their leadership and orders.
So the simple definition of democracy is "following the US order" this is the basic true

Americans accept the idea that democracy is procedural: i.e., voting. This is faults. Democracy = outcome: majority-rule.
American policies serve a tiny minority: less than 1%. Therefore, America is anti-democratic.
Chinese policies serve the vast majority of the people. In the last 30 years 800 million people have been brought into the middle-class; absolute poverty has been irradicated. Therefore, China is a Democracy.
Further: America sees itself in competition with everyone. The reason, it believes in Realism: i.e., Imperialism.
China does not see itself in competition with anyone. China rejects Realism. China is anti-Imperialistic.
Finally: the Thucydides Trap is a Western concept. If there's military conflict, it will be started by America.

You can easily understand China by looking at her history. Except for some border disputes she has never invaded any country, unlike European countries. In the 16th century she had an armada of hundreds of huge vessels sail far away, from east Africa to SE Asia, to So America, & never colonizing any place, although they could have done so. It is not in her DNA to go out & conquer. In fact china's Chinese name is "Jung guo" which means "central kingdom" (not "middle kingdom" as it's commonly mis-translated). "Central kingdom" meaning, they are the world's headquarters. China has a 5000 year history & for most of that, it was the richest & the dominant country in Asia. Now it feels it's returning to her rightful place after a century of humiliation when the west (& Japan) took advantage of her temporary weakness. She's back.

However I think the US should work and cooperate with China in its own interest to stay number one . Because any road block by US would propel China to press further ahead to have its own dynamic to move forward to achieve its goal to surpass the US as the number one economic power in the world. From an economic point of view,in a competition,I think China would beat the US because in China,it is run by engineers/scientists while the US is run by lawyers .

U have a fantastic comments almost like a historian with facts that can not be challenged, this prompted me to write as follows:
    1. These Western Oriented Genes have learned the wrong concept of democracy.. the Westerners does not have the patent neither the copy rights on the word democracy, using India is the largest democracy is an absolute wrong perspective about the real meaning n tenets of democracy base on the fact, the current Modi's leadership is one of the most fascist....... democracy is present in all forms of society since historical record of humanity.. while the degree n perspective of democratic values in varying levels..for example there was no historical discrimination of branding gay or LGBT in ancient society n the freedom from the dictate of systemic religion such as difference between Christianity n Islam, then it was truly freedom of expression ...there is democracy within socialism that common good n human responsibility is primary compared the individual freedom of choice just like the refusal to wear a mask during the Covid 19 pandemic against common good..
    2. The US n China rivalry is a conflict between a Western n Asian Culture, democracy is only the easiest playbook base on past 200 years of indoctrination against the Yellow Peril .. that manifested this Western Neo Liberal Christianity White Supremacy Egoism derived from past guilt, insecurity n paranoia of a REJUVENATING CHINA WITH THE STRENGTH OF A CIVILIZATION STATE THAT HAS LEARNED ITS LESSON FROM PAST 100 YEARS OF HUMILIATION MAINLY DUE TO ITS CULTURAL SELF SUFFICIENCY N SELF CONTAINMENT THAT MANIFESTED THE LACK OF WESTERN CULTURAL INSTINCT TO DOMINATE WITH AGGRESSION...
    3. CHINA HAPPENS TO BE THE EASY TARGET FOR SCAPEGOATING BASE ON IDEOLOGICAL DIFFERENCE AS A SOCIALIST STATE. BUT REALLY THE STRENGTH OF CHINA IS THEIR CULTURAL N CIVILIZATION STATE LEGACY, SOCIALISM IS ONLY A TOOL OF CONVENIENCE TO MANAGE ITS POPULATION SIZE.. secondly. It is the ills of modern democracy to have Donald Trump being elected in the most advanced democracy of America.. Another democratic ills is populism n patronage by selfishness of capitalist/capitalism... So democracy has different shades for different society to suit its national life Cycle...that is no absolute democracy!
    4. UNFORTUNATELY, THE MAJORITY OF WESTERN INTELLECTUALS ARE OFTEN BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT IN ORDER TO MAKE A LIVING ...to capture the imagination of their audience.. so often their narratives are subjective !( Well this speaker is much more balanced n objective....)

China does not care whether it is a superpower or not. What China needs is to get what it deserves through its own efforts. Unlike the western world, which gets rich through war and exploitation of other countries, China is taking the road of peace and cooperation to develop itself and help other countries, While developing, the first two generations of our country have suffered a lot! China's rise is unrepeatable and irresistible. Don't be afraid of China's rise. China is an agricultural civilization and has no genes for Western pirates to plunder. See the national defense strategy put forth by the Pentagon. The president is irrelevant in this. The focus shifted to secondary powers, doesn't matter which side is in office.
Ideology, values, morality, it's all window dressing, none of it matters beyond propaganda purposes. The only thing that matters is domination. The ability of your country to project its will onto others. The US does this by domination of most of the worlds air space and all of the oceans. The superiority of it's military, it's many allies, it's economic influence. All of it are ways to force its will on any secondary power and that is all that matters.
There will be no conventional war. China, the US and Russia will all try to play each other, each trying to erode each others power.
A new type of war will evolve that will feature:
    -Supporting insurrections (Tibet, Uyghurs)
-Pirates around Chinese shipping lanes around poor countries.
-Japan, S.Korea, Taiwan, India rearmed and pushed to contest territorial claims backed by the US.
-Sabotage of industrial warehouses, factories, ammunitions depots, shipyards, dry-docks, chemical storage sites, critical industry.
-Sabotage of infrastructure, trains, bridges, dams, fires, skyscrapers, stations, schools.
-arming and funding of various cults, sects, competing/suppressed religious groups etc
    -regional conflicts around natural recourses.
    -funding of political opposition.
    -Terrorism.
-Bioweapons. (it's a WMD with no known source).
    -Economic warfare.
-Surrounding countries will be pushed to conflict over the water ways flowing through China.
-Business will be deincentivized to produce in China and will be economically incentivized to move to competing economies such as India.
-Human rights violations will be called out when the time is right and the allies of the US will be sanctioned for doing business with China after that.
-Ultimate culmination (last point before outright war) -> naval blockade.
    Option 2:
They form a triumvirate and keep competing relatively peaceful.
The US is unlikely to let itself be superseded as the worlds first and foremost power. They are not just going to sit there and watch their power erode until they get overtaken.

Isn't that a human nature when you can't compete you try to find excuses for that inability to do so? The West had all the industrial complexes over the past three hundreds plus years when the older societies were bogged down by all traditions and beliefs, well many still do. To the few which had decided to change within their style and tradition, they had proven that they could achieve the material results faster and better albeit in a more stricter environment. And China is leading in this aspect and unable to compete with her, the West began to behave just like any gangster down the street is doing!

Very good discussion. People have to be realistic about what actions have meaningful impact and what consequences are totally unavoidable. In democratic institutions, people live in constant rage and paranoia because of ideological conflicts both internal and external. This often lead to populism and extremism which can in turn hurt oneself in the long run. People have to try to make a decision like a chess game and not rush into something just because it's popular for the time. Political decision making has become a fashion show and this contributes to the stagnation and contradiction of a country's key priorities.
