Hi Cheryl! Fellow washing powder user here. The washing machine fitter said it was better to use powder (and the occasional hotter wash) as the liquid can clog up the machine.

I haven't used washing powder in years. I switched to liquid many years ago, but when I visited my SIL in Manchester, she was using Persil pods, and I thought that was a brilliant idea. I couldn't get any here in Australia for some time, but now they all do them, yippee! The thing about both powders and liquids is that you are always tempted to put a bit more in than they say, but that is the road to 'tragedy'! I know, I've been there, done that! With pods, you get the correct measure every time. Are they dearer than powder or liquid? I have no idea! And, to be honest, I don't care either - they do the job they're intended for and that suits me!

My goodness , thats a great value shopping , I have to rely now on a carer to my shop , if I was to get the small articles in my local Supervalu supermarket , that would easily cost me , £120 , last week I was charged for 2 bots of honey @£3.80 each and only got one , so complained big time to the shop , previous week got 4 avocados @ £1.49 each , every one inedible , had to go out to the brown bin , really , really miss not being able to shop myself , because of mobility and health issues , but that truly was a great shop , love your videos , great info 😊❤😊❤😊

I really feel for you not being able to get out to do your own shopping. I, too, had to give away traipsing up and down the aisles, it played heck with my back and I was always grumpy when I got home. But then I found shopping online and I've never looked back, especially now that at least one shop does deliveries to our little town way out in the sticks. So I can order what I want, I can see the price I'm going to pay, and the delivery drivers are always a friendly bunch. Maybe you could look into what's available online to you as well. It is so worth it! And if you do get a 'dud' (like those rotten avos!) here, you just let them know and they immediately delete the charge for them. (Apparently they can't accept them back due to 'health issues' but they do the right thing by you at least!)

I still use washing powder 😊 much more economical and better for short washes. I prefer the Waitrose own brand. Not much in price difference with Tesco and I found it works well on stains and in cold wash. I always used fairy washing powder, as I have sensitive skin but I’ve been fine on Waitrose brand so far. Please let me know what you think of the Tesco powder. I’ve never had corn beef on toast. I’m going to have to try that. Thanks for sharing your haul 😊

Tesco powder has always clumped together in my drawer and I end up with large lumps attend of cycle in the drawer. Doesn't matter what I do so it's a huge no for me now. The bio, non bio, and tropical all clump.

The price of olive oil will probably continue to rise.
The olive harvest was really bad last fall, that's why it's so expensive.
Sunflower oil is also expensive because the majority came out of Ukraine.

Hi Cheryl & Happy Saturday to you too. Another great food shop, like the look of those wee lemon curd iced buns 😋 and the sizzlers lemon squash sounds interesting - hope you give us your opinion on it. Haven’t used washing powder for many many years on the advice of a washing machine repair man who advised me that it can clog up & damage automatic machines & best to switch to liquid detergents - don’t know if it’s true or not, but took his advice & (touch wood) my 15 year old machine hasn’t needed any repairs since - hope I’m not tempting fate 😬!🫣😉
Take care & enjoy your Saturday evening. xx 👩🏻‍🍳🛒💕💞🩷

One thing I hate about shopping at Aldi, is being OVERCHARGED! ... There's a trend to shopsto ask if you'd like your receipt. That's so you WON'T know when you've been diddled! ... I used to like self checkout at Aldi, because I only charge myself ONCE for each item, but now it's limited to 20 items ... Last Friday, I bought two boxes of Fish Fingers, and was charged for three. Mistakes are ALWAYS in the supermarkets favour! I had to return to the checkout and point out the mistake. Even though I paid Contactless, I was refunded in cash. I wish they'd learn to bloody scan properly! 👎😠
EDIT: Even though inflation is down to 2.3%, its disappointing to see Aldi Fakeabix up in price by another 6p! ... I used to buy the Everyday Essentials Fakeabix, which were way cheaper, but they stopped doing them, forcing customers to buy the more expensive ones. Grr!
