    Tomlin. As a blues harp beginner, I found your video lesson on the fundamental explanation of understanding and playing the 12 Bar Blues pattern far superior to all other harp instructors out there in cyber land. I’m with only you from now on. You have a unique style that brings it home.

    Dude, I'm loving this. I'm a singer and have absolutely no aptitude for playing musical instruments, but for some reason the harp feels really natural. Your lessons are a great help. Keep it up man

    Awesome! Ive been learning harmonica for quite a while just by learning licks and things but had had trouble stringing them together in a bluesy, musical way.
    Your tutorial was so good, even on the first run of playing along with the backing track I understood how to improv around the beat notes to make it musical. Great teacher!

    You play over 12 bar blues
    So you come in the next bar?
    If a new streak begins then always on the beat of the 12 bar blues?
    You play over 12 Bar Blues no matter how long the Strphe is?
    Thank you from Germany

    I have a Hohner silverstar and try to practice from time to time. Im a veeeeery veeeeery begginer, but I'm thinking about getting a Marine Band. Do you think it's too soon or not? It's worth it for a total newbie like me?

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  7 лет назад +1

      +Sergio Gallardo definitely - I think it is an excellent idea to learn on a good quality instrument. If you are a complete beginner I would recommend maybe a Special 20 instead as they have a plastic comb which is less likely to swell with moisture from your mouth.

    Nice video as always Tomlin! You said you're using Suzuki harmonicas. Which one would you recommend for blues? Thanks!

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  7 лет назад

      +Lucien Morard hi Lucien, thank you! I am not particularly picky with harmonicas - I have personally used the Bluesmaster, Promaster, Manji and Olive and they all sound good over blues :-)

    Hi Tomlin,
    how to not get bore between each 12 bar cycles? Cause it is 6 bars of I chord! I kind of get very repetitive!

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  7 лет назад

      +guimaluc0 you can add in a turn around in bar 12 to mix things up a little and make it more interesting.

    Just curios ex: a root note is. a.l- A- flat. the lV is C. and the V. -- G can you start the song on. V ?

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  4 года назад

      Hi, if your I chord is an Ab then your IV chord will be Db and your V chord will be Eb. You can absolutely start on the V chord though :-)

    Thank you for putting out videos. I have given many of your videos a thumb up, but I had to give this one a thumb down. After watching your video I still did not understand why the IV cord was a 4b and the V cord was a 4d. It seems to me knowing the order of the cords is useless if you don't know what makes the cord.

      No worries Dead Note. I appreciate the honesty. I try to keep things simple so that people don't get too much information in one go. At the very least a chord is three notes played at the same time. In a major 12 Bar Blues these notes are called Root, 3rd and 5th. The notes that I teach you to play in this lesson are the root notes of the three different chords in a 12 Bar Blues. Hope that helps. T
