I'm a new (60 year old) harmonica player this week and have really really enjoyed your teaching style. I look forward to playing well enough for my wife (she's a new ukulele player) and my beautiful little grand-daughters! Thanks again. Bobbo
this helped me to simplify: on then I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d) I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d) IV bar(4b,4b) bar(4b,4b) I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d) on V (4d,4d) IV (4b,4b) I bar(2d,2d) on Turnaround (2d,1d)
It doesnt hurt a thing to review fundamentals. Great lesson. Also I really liked the podcast with Ronnie Shellist. I learned just listening for 1:11 minutes😎
excellent, this video lesson I did everything understanding the least of what you said. To write here I had to go to Google translator. kkkkk Obrigado meu amigo!
Chaaars Tom.... I have always found it difficult to “keeping going” when learning/playing music but, you set a good pace and have a wide variety of harmonica skills to learn and develop...
super clear as usual. my harmonica helps me keepin my mind active and far from covid thoughts (2000 victims only in my region). Maybe now I can understand what blues REALLY means
Thank you Tomlin, I'm brand new to the harmonica and like your presentation of lessons. I hope I've done the right thing, after reviewing several brands of harmonicas, I've purchased one for $40.00. Looking forward to your next lesson.
Excellent advice as always - one of my musical Scottish chums has also called this wonderful little instrument a "moothie" (mouth organ). Is that just him or a general Scottish name?
Why do you use a C harmonica when the progression is in G? (I'm a guitarist trying to help my friend learn the blues on his harmonica). A simple explanation on what harp to use over different keys would be super helpful. Thanks!
Hey thank you for the lesson. I think I’m getting it, but I wanted to ask you a question. How do you draw without losing your breath? I tend to lose my breath quickly when I draw. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?? Is there a better technique?
Hi Tomlin, thank you for your lessons! Mostly I play a chromatic harmonica and mostly I can translate your instructions for the chromatic harp. (Depends on the key you play.) Can you give some hints for chromatic harp players to get a better blusy sound?
Ive never had a chromatic harmonica but I guess you should play the blues scale and for the sound try to bend the notes that are bent on the diatonic harp of just get a diatonic harmonica.
Hey Tomlin, could you answer this question for me please... If i want to improvise to this 12bar progression. Do i have to use the notes that are in the chord being played? Say the first 4 bars was 'C' chord , am i 'only' allowed to use the notes from this chord? Thanks !
No you can use those notes but you can also use notes from the Blues Scale and major pentatonic scale (unless a minor blues). There are very few rules.
all righty so how do we expand on the base set here by adding 2-3 notes per progression? :) Also something I have huge difficulty learning is bending, you can't blues without bending :)
@@shaggymotionless4269 Thank you, Snookie. This doesn't answer my question. Can you take another shot at this. I can play chords and single notes and that's not the issue.
@@JBCavern That's a great question JBCavern. You are not playing chords when you play single notes. Instead, you are playing the root note of each chord. The guitar is playing the chords and you are playing the root note which is the strongest fundamental tone in the chord. Hope that helps. T

Thank you for all your teaching.
this helped me to simplify:

I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d)
I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d)
IV bar(4b,4b) bar(4b,4b)
I bar(2d,2d) bar(2d,2d)
on
V (4d,4d)

Nicely done ...
Lovely. Thanks so much for your time. And this great tutorial.

We all need something to busy ourselves with during this time, I am glad you picked up the harp! :-)
Great lesson. Thanks! If I'm playing this in Am on guitar, would I move up to an F harp?
Can you film this progression for harmonica in key A, please?
Thank you Tomlin, I'm brand new to the harmonica and like your presentation of lessons. I hope I've done the right thing, after reviewing several brands of harmonicas, I've purchased one for $40.00. Looking forward to your next lesson.

Cool
My grandson 15 years staying in Dallas TEXAS will like to join ur harmonica learning course ,how should he go about it ?

@@TomlinHarmonica Thank you so much for answering me tomlin. this is a great help. Now i know cheers !
I have a 64 chromonica will that still work?
What really is the meaning of "second position in the key of G"? Has it anything to do with being able to bend a key to the tone of G?
all righty so how do we expand on the base set here by adding 2-3 notes per progression? :) Also something I have huge difficulty learning is bending, you can't blues without bending :)
I Just started out on F harmonica, maybe it was a mistake lol
😮❤
Why can't I play 3 blow instead of 2 draw. It's a lot easier.
Why are these called "chords" when only one note is played?
U can play more than one note on a harmonica
@@shaggymotionless4269 Thank you, Snookie. This doesn't answer my question. Can you take another shot at this. I can play chords and single notes and that's not the issue.

Кажется автор в табах цвета перепутал...
two draw is hard
It's it normally hard?
I had that problem before, but it turned out to be the harmonica itself.
If your harp is fine, you may want to try relaxing
@@annaw252 no problem. everything normal.
"Lets hear how it sounds" straight to some bs add, beautiful 🤣
Great lesson, Thank you
