I guess that sounds fair. I think Nightmare Creatures 3 and remakes of the first two games would be more viable today when developed for current-gen consoles like PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Imagine a new Assassin’s Creed-type game that doubled down on the gothic horror being released today.
@calvincooper9154 Suuuuper easy to emulate. They can definitely play it, but masterpiece is a pretty big stretch. Very cool, much better than 2, but definitely more cult classic firmly in B tier due to lots of clunk.
Fun fact: Bloodborne is the spiritual successor to Nightmare Creatures, Nightmare Creatures 2 and the unfinished unreleased Nightmare Creatures 3 Angel of Darkness.
The first game’s soundtrack was very ambient and genuinely creepy. Combined with nasty creatures coming out of the darkness to attack you made for a chilling experience.
It always kinda surprised me that this game never got ported to the Nintendo DS. Would have been a perfect fit, with how the levels already force you to be quick.

Nightmare Creatures 2 however, has a special place in my heart because it was the very first horror game I dared to play on my own after watching my brother complete the game a couple of times, I already knew what to do and that gave me a sense of safety.
I remember playing both games... I liked the second one better, just from how the game felt. Of course, I was also a bit of a Rob Zombie fan, so including some tracks from Hellbilly Deluxe in the game may have helped my enjoyment a bit :P
When NC was originally released, 3D gaming was still in its infancy and the game felt so next level. The combo based combat system. The large, intricately designed levels. Wondered what that steep drop in quality was all about. Now I know. Cool. Still want my $42 back.

Never played NC1, but played the hell out of NC2. If there's something I remember about is the insane difficulty, the clunky controls and the anticlimactic ending and end boss fight.
So, the first time I ever played Bloodborne, this game flooded back to me and hit me like a truck! It was this weird deja vu feeling I couldn't put my finger first. Then I got down into Yharnam's square, where its burning effigy lit up the bricks along the ground. Suddenly, I was in the first area of Nightmare Creatures, wondering how I could have forgotten such a pivotal game. I could never get past that first area back then. But I didn't care, I'd keep trying for hours. I just loved being in that world. Bloodborne was my first soulslike, and my first couple days were ROUGH! With me nervous that I'd just bought a game I'd never succeed in. But that WORLD... I just couldn't leave all it's secrets tucked away. I had no other option than to git gud! Bloodborne is now pretty securely #1 on my favorites list. Thank you, Nightmare Creatures, for taking the first steps, so Bloodborne could Space Broccoli Dodge! 💖
I remember enjoying this game as a kid, mostly because it gave off Shadowman vibes. Sadly, I don't remember finishing the game so thanks for the nostalgia trip.
The demo on a Playstation demo disc got me hooked, and I loved the vibe of the full game, especially the intensely atmospheric soundtrack and the victorian designs. Frankly, it wasn't a great game from a gameplay perspective (the need to kill the next monster if you didn't wanna just keel over from not killing anything did a haymaker to the atmosphere, and let's not even talk about the "succeed or die" jumping mechanics), but a very memorable one.
Hi, thank you- I remember wanting to play Nightmare Creatures when I was younger and never did, but I’m looking forward to playing the Forgive Me Father series now that I know of it, thank you
Man, what a blast from the past. I never actually played the full game but I remember playing a level that was on a Playstation demo disc compilation and really digging the idea of the game. It seemed so cool. This was back when I'd get a game a year from my parents, though, so I'd get the latest Final Fantasy or Resident Evil or whatever and never took the opportunity to get an intriguing game that I wasn't that sure about.

I remember being so pumped to rent the og NC and then I couldn't figure out how to beat the first boss and just gave up.
Oh man, I love that you made a video about NC I loved that game so much, It was one of the first games I've ever played, It really shaped my childhood accompanied by Max Payne and Red Alert 2, Man you brought back the memories, Thanks you very much for this
Never played NC1, but played the hell out of NC2. If there's something I remember about is the insane difficulty, the clunky controls and the anticlimactic ending and end boss fight.
These What Happend? videos deserve millions of views. What is RUclipss algorithm doing
Thank you for using deadly premonition music in your video. I could never get tired of that game; unless you ask me about collecting all the cards

Hopefully someone else can pick this up for a possible remake/remaster.
Hi, thank you- I remember wanting to play Nightmare Creatures when I was younger and never did, but I’m looking forward to playing the Forgive Me Father series now that I know of it, thank you
I was addicted to this game when I was like 6 lmao. The Rob Zombie intro was so iconic for me
Man, what a blast from the past.
