Two Legends!! I live in Vero Beach Florida and work at a beachside restaurant. Mike Stewarts' dad is my regular and the absolute classiest and most interesting guy . Being a bodyboarder and hearing his stories is insane. Mr. Stewart hooked me up with a new Science board and vipers as well. I always show the newest videos with him and he is stoked
Eaaaaaaasily the best interview in a long time. sometimes I get so fkin bored of riders/surfers/bodyboarders saying the same regurgitated shit every time...'surfed here, It was perfect', 'scored 8ft roping barrels clean off shore winds'. this interview was wholesome and insightful.
Such a legend, yet humble, stocked and an amazing ambassador for the sport and being positive in general. I was lucky enough to meet Mike lately in Israel and was super inspired to see him walk the talk on so many levels. Thank you Mike and Jay
At long last! Great interview. I am so grateful to have been able to meet Mike and surf with him on the 2019 Tavi Tube Tour. Thank you Jay for the interview and making that trip possible.
I want to leave a comment on the Mike Stewart and Jay Reale interview. They are true legends, they made me believe that bodyboarding could be a way of life, and that actually happened. Now, 15 years have passed since that experience, and I've been away for various personal reasons. But every day, I want to immerse myself more in the ocean, regardless of the sport, and simply glide in the energy of the waves. This resonates with every word you mentioned about the lifestyle, the connection with the ocean, and the benefits that come with it. So, I want to thank you for this inspirational moment that makes you both amazing individuals. You keep a beacon of hope alive and show that age is irrelevant, it's about who you are.
great interview! I experienced same thing after I was at the lowest point in my life,(got involved w Art of Living org) and I learned so much about myself and the power of being present and letting go of ego, basically letting go, very powerful,.......eastern philosophies and practices
Mike Stewarts is the absolute GOAT for Bodyboarding. I grew up idolizing his style and to this day the best watermen out there. Keep the stoke and continue to influence the upcoming generations of the sport.
Thank you for your inspiration Mike!! 35 years I've been looking up to you! Glad to see you had a great sesh at the Wedge. I remember pulling out the back on a left on the Northside HB Pier and you bustfed the first air reverse 360 I ever seen. So sick! Back in probably 88??? You made me see what was possible on a Bodyboard!
So awesome - great interview Jay; surfers think Kelly but a lot of watermen/people think Mike right along side… How humble - it’s mahalo city in my home after that interview; I feel like I just shared set waves with good buds…! 🙏
The man with the Stewie stall. The man who made me want to charge bigger reef break waves way back in the 90s. The goat. Also love the low key adventures!
As Mike didn't mention it, I figure he uses the same (yellow dot?) flex fins for Bodysurfing rather than a softer flex, which a lot of folk favour, is this the case?
wow 60?! ya, mike, time is not linear. meaning, its always and only now. past is a memory bias subjective maliable and future is imaginary. there are factors like future trends manifesting as energy waves and theres probability, track records, likelihood, ect but really it does not exist and is not determined. universe does its thing but seems to favor acts of courage and manifestations of novelty. 60... 45 tops.
One of the greatest wave riders of ALL TIME, in any discipline. Functional, flowing, power - Mike will always be relevant.
