Stefani's full name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (pronounced STEF-ən-ee JUR-mə-NOT-ə). The Gaga in Lady Gaga was derived from Queen's song Radio Ga Ga. Music producer Rob Fusari, who worked with Gaga when she was starting out in the industry, claimed to have been the first person to call her that. He also said they dated for a while. What they didn't delve into im the documentary us that Gaga was raped at age 19 by her producer. She didn't say a name but many people believe it was Fusari. Afterwards, she underwent mental and physical therapy and has suffered from PTSD since. She even said she got pregnant and was dropped off by that person by her parents' house. She hasn't said it but I assume she had an abortion (or a miscarriage). In the music video to her song Marry The Night (from the album Born This Way) she is shown being in a hospital with other female patients, shich many interpret either as a mental facility or a clinic where she had an abortion. About the video she said: "It's about one of the most horrible days of my life when I got dropped from my first record label and it's the story of what happened that day". She was dropped from her label Def Jam Recordings after being with them for 3 months. She has also suffered from an eating disorder and was bullied as a child.
Gaga and Diane Warren co-wrote the song Til It Happens To You for the documentary The Hunting Ground, which deals with rape/sexual assault on college campuses in the US. A portion of the proceeds was donated to organisations supporting survivors of sexual assault. Gaga also became involved with New York state Governor Andrew Cuomo's push for new legislation to help eradicate rape culture in US colleges, titled "Enough Is Enough", which went into effect in July 2015. The music video to the song was released as part of a PSA directed by Catherine Hardwicke (who directed the first Twilight movie, among others). I really recommend the video BUT it is VERY graphic and could be triggering. I also recommend watching the Oscars performance of the song where, in the end, she is joined on stage by over 50 survivors of sexual assault, with words like "survivor" and "not your fault" written on their bodies (like in the video).
The song became the first, and to date, only, song ever nominated for a Grammy Award, Academy Award and an Emmy Award in the same year. It won the Emmy, Satellite Award and iHeartRadio Award. Unfortunately, it was the same year as a Bond song (Writing's on the Wall by Sam Smith) and lost out at the Oscars.
The chronic pain she is seen suffering from in the doc was later revealed to be caused by fibromyalgia, a disorder characterised by chronic, widespread pain throughout the body, accompanied by muscle and joint stiffness, fatigue, trouble sleeping, migraines, anxiety, depression, problems with concentrating and memory loss (sometimes called "fibro fog").
After her third album Artpop, released in 2013, did not do as well as her previous albums, her management decided to come up with an image change for her. She didn't wear as much outlandish outfits and make-up and she started doing music and performances that showcased her voice more. Like The Sound of Music tribute performance at the Oscars and releasing a jazz album with Tony Bennett called Cheek to Cheek (which won a Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album). They also did another album called Love for Sale.
It is indeed her album Joanne that they're making in this doc. It is her fifth album and came out in 2016. TmThe album crosses between many different genres, including pop, country, folk, funk, dance, rock and electronic. The album and specifically the title track is about her aunt, Joanne Stefani Germanotta (whom Gaga is named after), who died due to complications arising from the autoimmune disease lupus when she was 19 years old (other notable people who have openly talked about suffering from lupus are Michael Jackson, Seal and Selena Gomez). In an interview, Gaga revealed that Joanne's Lupus got more complicated after she experienced a sexual assault, and those complications resulted in her death.
Gaga and Florence Welch collaborated on a song called Hey Girl for the album and is an ode to feminism. It has actually been noted to have taken inspiration from Elton John's Bennie and the Jets.
There is a song on the album called Angel Down that was inspired by the death of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012 (sidenote, I alwaya remember the day that SOB was acquitted because it was the same day Cory Monteith/Finn from Glee died, July 13th 2013). Gaga collaborated with Elton John on a song called Room in my Heart but unfortunately it didn't make the album's final cut.
The writer/producer that is with Gaga most in the studio is Mark Ronson, who also co-wrote Shallow from A Star is Born (Million Reasons was not in the movie. You may be confusing it with Always Remember Us This Way) and has worked with artists like Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus and Bilile Eilish. Fun fact: He is married to actress Grace Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep.
Another fun fact: Gaga used to be a go-go dancer in New York and the song Dianond Heart from the Joanne album talks about that.

Lady Gaga suffers from fibromyalgia, stemming from the hip injury when she performed with inflamed injuries in the area on her world tour, and the pain comes in randomly. There are clips of her concert where she just stops dancing and will keep on singing because she’s in so much pain.
And Haus of Gaga is her creative team. Early 2000s started as a close group of creative friends and it grew into an actual “company” of people she employs

Her & Madonna has since clearly made things up. Gaga won her first Oscar and then went to go hang with Madonna at her house. I think it’s safe to say it’s in the past now.
To me Joanne is her weakest.
And the reason I say that, it’s because she was trying so hard to heal her family, and abandoning who she is as an artist, so for me it’s aged the worst. I enjoy it over all but it’s clearly her weakest.
I believe Gaga also said it didn’t do what she wanted it to, for her family. I also felt it was awkward when she was trying to be her dad’s sister and that always felt off for me. But thats just me I guess
Been a little monster for the longest time, but I do have to say that Gaga and almost everyone with that success & fame is a problematic person and the docu just shows that. One day she cries about not being able to leave her house & have a normal life, the next moment she's in walmart and has her team tell everyone that this is lady gaga so that they can film inside there. leaving her apartment through the main entrance in couture clothes & putting on full shows doesn't help either. People like her are so extremely isolated from the rest of humanity, even the people close to them are her team members and her "workers", hence why she keeps on continuing this loop of "i dont wanna be famous anymore, but oh lets tell everyone im gaga and wear couture to go out on the street cuz im used to the fame and also need it".
