In-Depth Tour of a Hubert Herr Cuckoo Clock | ItzAnthony

My first in-depth tour video of my cuckoo clock. The music box inside broke a couple years ago, and it's not worth it to fix. So I had to remove the weight and chain and it only cuckoos, doesn't play music anymore. But I still can make it run with my finger.

Among all videos showing mechanisms of cuckoos, this is by far the clearest one. Having a Hubert Herr to repair for the first time of my life, I spent considerable time watching many useless tutos where the guy murmurs in his barb, never show correctly the parts he is working on, and spends considerable time watching the inside while you can only stare at the side of the casing. Even if here, there are not indications of trouble-shooting and solutions to fix the problems ( it is not the target ), at least you can see how things work with sufficient time to understand, good lighting, and no boring comments. Dear oh dear... one of mine has a music box problem too: 3 broken teeth and 2(possibly 3?) bent teeth. Happened while I tried to adjust the comb as when I purchased it it was already too far from the cylinder.
It's a much older clock, therefore the music box's speed governor and all it's other parts besides comb and cylinder are integrated into the mechanism. Other than that, welp, I'mma save up for a couple of thousand quid... either new teeth or new comb all together!

The one bellows needs reglued. its jumping when moving. its the low pitch bellow you can see it in the video of it jumping up and down off of the whistle

It seems the weight that powers the music has completely gone....

Yeah it broke in 2014. I actually pulled that weight when I was younger.

@@itsant07 Sad to hear... Perhaps you could still thread your own string plus weight to bring it back to life!
