Hey dude - buy some heat activated cable welds. Little plastic tubes which bind the wires together as though they have been soldered, and all you need is a heat source, like a heat gun or lighter. Instant bonding and instant + tidy sealing.

Yeah, Boeing 737s (even the recent Max generation) have these covered toggle switches, which is very common in the old days of aviation, especially early jet age (60s-80s, before digital computer took over). Absolutely just a common old style aviation thing, not exclusively fighter.

Remember people, remove all the components inside your computer before doing this mod. Small metal particles created from the drill can short-circuit the motherboard.

When splicing a cable, stagger the butt connectors to minimize the thickness of the connection point, though you trade thickness for distance of cable consumed.
I might not be into the fighter pilot switch as much as this guy, but I respect him making his build the way he truly wants! I've made mods to my own case and PC, much the same, and it's really nice to make things be the way you want them. :)
If you really want it to look like a switch on a space craft you need to add little chrome bars either side of it. All switches on spacecrafts have them to make them easier to use in micro gravity.
Couple of notes: First, no they don't all have the bars. Second, the bars are to stop other stuff hitting them accidentally not to make them easier to use. It actually makes it a bit harder to use.
@@MinistryOfMagic_DoM those are both good points. Perhaps I did over generalise, but I have heard an astronaut say that the guards help with not flicking adjacent switches and they also give you something to press off to toggle the switch because you don't have gravity anchoring your weight.
If you decide to emulate this mod, make sure you get a MOMENTARY CONTACT switch, NOT a standard on-off toggle You can also do something similar with a reset switch.
You misunderstood him. That is a "fighter pilot toggle switch" used for starting up the pilot. The jet has a "make jet go on switch" which will make the jet go on. My friends brother is a pilot on a elite world class fighter jet extreme stunt and racing team and he told me about this. He also gets new release video games a week before they come out because his uncles work at nintendo and playstation.
@@andrewut7ya511 Well no offense but first off there is no “Single button to turn on the entire aircraft” you need to turn on different stuff depending on your aircraft for example a Hornet you will need to turn on the Main Battery then turn on APU and wait till a green light shows then turn on the right engine then left engine then inject the fuel there are multiple steps theres not a button that lets you turn on the whole aircraft at once.

I have heat wrap and a solder gun and soldered quite a few things I was just way to lazy and didn’t care grabbed the stuff I had in a drawer and the wires would be tucked away

That is a good switch for reset, a nicer switch option in my opinion is a induction switch that can live hidden behind glass or plastic. Used to use remote Controls (garage door openers) to start and shutdown my PC in the 90"s even used one with on/off and reset (filed the inside of the reset button on the remote to make it hard to press) also good old Nokia 3310 and extra parts from some internet harmfull manuals was great as a remote on/off for VNC viewer back in the day.
Wow I remember having a switch like that on my computer about 20 years ago. Except mine was either on or off because back then you actually had to turn the computer off.
As an engineer in Aerospace, if he wanted it to be more representative, he would have spent thousands of dollars buying different switches, setting up switch tests, creating validation criteria for those tests, reviewing the test data, presenting the data to an engineering board, drafting work instructions, reviewing the work instructions with another board, handing off the instructions (that really just sat "install switch") to technicians, hover over them for the whole process, once complete, go to a business review board to brag about what a good job he's done by bringing the switch onboard despite it being grossly over budget, but generally on schedule (which is still late).
I have to start mine by sticking my finger through a hole in the tower frame to hold the back plastic ofnthe powet button and then push the piwer button because the glue holding the plastic came loose and every fix wont hold but the finger in the hold works fine, and its like a simple security measure for people that dont understand the insides
Imagine having the pc under the desk and having the setup like the inside of an aircraft so the start up switch would turn the pc and stuff like that and the throttle would increase the spead of your aircraft in game
You missed the perfect chance to integrate the switch in your desk instead of your PC. Easier acces and way cooler looking since you can keep the little cap thingy with the hinge that revealed the button. But cool idea!
I think this is better fitted on the desk in a 3 pair setup underglass. One for desk RGB. One for monitor. One for PC. And if ur feeling fancy one to open up ur game and streaming platform

Problem with that is that you need to have a hole im the case for the wire and hide the wire somewhere wich means another hole in the desk

you’d definitely want to run relays for that so you don’t have the full 240 or 120 volts going through your desk

I've done this too, but I used that circular hole where the button is. Turns out the cable can just be desoldered, and the hole can be expanded.
Looks pretty good to me.

depends on the aircraft. some have pushtype circuit breakers, others have toggle switches others run when the engine is running (old old style)
