- In this video I show you how to start marking out the rails, also called rail bands. The shaping the rails is broken up into two videos, this one is part 1 where I mark out the rails. In part 2 the foam is removed and the board is shaped.
Here is where I buy most of my surf supplies and link to useful templates and instructions on how to shape rail bands (Click on "How to Build a Surfboard"):

Hello Andrew. In my builds I've used a CNC machine.
Anyway I have a advice for you and those who use Xps /eps: let the epoxy rest at around 50 degree Celsius (114 F maybe?) for 5 hours. It's what the best shapers do and, according to them, makes a difference
I've seen a video about getting rid of bubbles in Epoxy and that's exactly what the guy was showing. Or is there any other reason for doing so?
Great information as usual, interested to see how you get round the de-lamination issues that usually affect xps.If you can solve that it would be great as xps is much better to shape than eps and doesnt suck water
You really done well.
Looking experienced.
I have a small doubt.. Can we use thermocol instead of foam
Hi Andrew, thanks for the great videos! I’m learning a lot. I’m starting to make an XPS kite foil board. You mention briefly that delamination should not be a problem if you do it right. Which video do you talk about how to minimize the chance of epoxy composite - xps delamination? Thanks!
you need to clean up your outline; that is , your template first before doing your rail bands . the outline appears to have a number of flat spots
Could u make a video on how you made your shaping bay and stands
Where can I find polypropeline foam?
How do I make boards without stringer, can I glue the two parts of the blpco of eps?
Darn Canadians, I thought they were all using metric. ;-)
So this is actually the first time you built a surfboard
