Thanks Chris, great video, I was having issues with my 3 year old Linksys MR8300 and the nice young lady (Linksys support) recommended this model MX4200. Really appreciate your explanation of this router as I am still quite a novice about these items. So, I am leaving Wifi 5 and joining Wifi 6 and hoping for much better results.
I am a noob when it comes to this stuff and was about to order the hydra and the atlas 6 thinking that the hydra is the router and the atlas are the nodes when I found your channel. Thank you for clearing this up for me. 👍🏽
I bought the Hydra after your initial review. I was able to expand the network with the Velop AC13000 to cover our farthest room. The Velop only supports WPA2 and will not connect if the system is on WPA2/3 mix. Its the cheaper model and still works great just no WPA3 or WiFi6.
I have the Velop AC 5400 o r4600 I don't remember. its the wifi 5 3 pack from few years ago. are you saying we can match up these new ones with the old ones?
Whats your ISP providing you though that also effect, would be nice to compare what they promised and what you're getting. Also would the mesh system work with any router because I already have a Asus gaming wifi6 router
Hey Chris, I have just seen the new Velop Pro 6E - but I have no idea where it fits in the linksys range? Is it better than the Atlas Max? I cant find any good comparison info - a comparison video would be great!
I just got a new Hydra 6 but am sending it back. I needed a router that is capable of wireless bridging. Couldn't make it work on the Hydra 6 unfortunately. 😞
Thanks Chris! Curious. Tri-Band, from what I’ve seen, refers to the 6Ghz channel gifted to us by WiFi 6E, but the Velop are not 6E. Does the Tri-band in the name reference the dedicated wireless backhaul that they provide?
wonder if you can download and install more advanced settings into this like the good old days with the older ones ,turn a cheap router into a $600 instantly.
If you have a bell hub 4000, would I need this? Or is the bell hub 4000 enough? I know my basement is where its been hard to get good speed so far with the hub 4000, would this fix it?
Not saying I doubted the results of your speed tests in previous videos, but I did like seeing you talking through and showing the speed tests at each location.
Very nice review of the Linksys routers. Would like to see what is included in the app for free services like controlling devices hooked to them. Lots of control is available for your kids & guests but some charge for these services.
Can you select what band you're on with these? Google WiFi sucks for this reason alone. I have certain smart home products that require 2.4ghz but I couldn't force my phone onto 2.4 to set them up.
I think this was very topical as far showing walls / floor plan. Did not elaborate on wired vs wireless internet. Lacking information given in other videos. I read the questions & answers, you don’t really have answers.🤨
I am wondering the same thing Eric because the same as you my home theater in the basement gets slower speeds. Any help is appreciate Chris. Thank you.
Recommend not buying any Linksys Wifi product. My brand new WiFi 6 mesh router failed almost a year ago and Linksys refuses to replace the unit even though they admitted it is a hardware failure. I went to Eero, far better performance and support.
Don't buy this Hydra pro6e if you want Pro. the 6ghz does not show with the new update no solution, no money back no follow up. only problems with this, buy T-plink

Exactly the test I was looking for. Thanks :)

This was very helpful! Thinking about upgrading soon in a couple days for these
Great T Shirt ..love it man
Thanks for the video bro. Just what I was looking for.

Very good, comprehensive and clear. Thank you. Keep up the great 👍🏾 work.
Chris ASUs recently came out with a router too called the XT8 supposedly this thing is a beast.
I got a chance to briefly test the XT8 a couple of months ago but I need to do some in-depth testing

Excellent video. What modem would you recommend to pair with this router?
Hi i can use this velop system how extender with my MR8300?? Thanks!

Another excellent review. What are your thoughts on the Asus ET8?

Damn you got some crazy good internet…
Hey Chris, enjoyed your video! Do all tri band mesh systems have wireless backhual? Especially the eero ones? thanks.
Most of them do. I still have the eero on my list to test.
@@ChrisMajestic is there any way to tell for sure if a certain system had that capability?

Will this router work with the Velop Dual-Band Mesh WiFi 5 dual band AC3200?
Can the Velop be used only as a mesh point in conjunction with a different router, such as the EA8300?
Are they be able work together?
Is there a limit to how far they should be from each other? For example I wanted to connect one node on the main floor, second floor and basement
Thanks for an excellent video as always. Please do one where the router is a corner of the basement which is the set-up some of us have.

What you want to do defeats the purpose of a mesh network. It's not a brand's WiFi system problem, it's a wrong use case unfortunately.
@@Shift4gCould you elaborate? 🤔

@@Shift4g except loads of mesh networks allow you to specifically pick 2.4 or 5ghz except Google. Google WiFi still sucks
Have you used the Hydra Pro 6 with the Atlas Mesh...do you think that combination would work better than the Velop MX4200 with 3 pods?
What’s the best mesh to buy right now ?
So in your opinion if I already have an Amplifi Alien router would the upgrade be worth it or no? I know you were using one for a while.
I am wondering the same thing Eric because the same as you my home theater in the basement gets slower speeds. Any help is appreciate Chris. Thank you.
Oh man, I get just under 100mb/s around bad spots of my house and thought I was king until I saw this video, lol….
can you login the the mx4200 's ip address and setup manually
Checking in, in 2024, these are $20 on Amazon
So this is the MR5500 tested, beware because 3 different models exist in the hydra 6 realm ^^
Setting up wasn’t that easy. Had to call Linksys to do the set up.
Nice

FAIL product if the only to set it up is to use an app
You can access more advanced setup using a browser
@@zedvee2668 While this is true, the option should also be available true the app.
Thanks for the concise review...great channel....👍
