At this step I get the following message:

When I press close at this message, the app closes.

Hi thank you for all your help. Is it possible to do all of this with out being able to log into windows? My laptop is in a boot loop so I can't login to format the drive on drive droid? I just want to recover windows with a fresh install from my phone.
no you need pendrive or do this in your friends comp then connect this to your pc or install linux using drivedroid then find any alternative of rufus in linux then do same

@@flashkonnect496 yes, he can. Just download the ISO, then put it in the folder that u hosted. Then tap on the image and click "CD-Rom Mass storage 1"
@@k3lvv_1n58 its OK I just used a flash drive instead. Now it's fixed. There was a driver update that caused a boot loop.

what happens if i don't use rufus
nothing will happen but rufus will make all windows files to optimise properly and while boot you will also not get any error...........
this app not working on newer devices what is version android on your phone?
it should work or else download from browser according to your phone arm/x86 i have used it on andr9
