IDGAF what nuna-yue mufuckas talking bout, Cookman came through and sounded Great!!! Southern did too!!! Two thumbs up to both bands! DaRock pumping straight boulders with 14 tubas. Cookman got so much power just playing in the pocket with control and tone. Imagine if Mr. Wells let Cookman off the leash frfr. Not biased just cause I played tuba at Cookman. Southern damn shole brought that shit!! Cookman damn shole did too. Just two different styles with same intensity!!! DaRock always go be deep, dark, and solid!!!

Yes cookman did sound great during the 5th quarter. Always quality sound as usual. Now southern was LOUD and thats about it. Most swac bands sound tinney. Way too much brass and u cant tell the difference between the different brass instruments 🤷🏽♀️

@@victoriabostick2935Saying SU was just loud is just blatant ignorance and bias. They showcased control, dynamics, and balance on My Funny Valentine. BCU has always had one of the most pristine sound signatures among all HBCUs. However, that sound can only do so much with a limited playbook. This is exactly why BCU will continue to lose battles. Terrible song selection, and an ancient book.

Both bands did a great job. Although this was a short fifth quarter, hopefully folks will get off of Cookman’s book!!! I’m not sure why it was so short, the stadium gave them 45 minutes.

Yea Cookman doesn’t play long when it comes to 5th quarters for whatever reason. I know from watching the Florida Classic.

My Funny Valentine sealed the deal. Nothing else needed to be played. BCU sounded good but why only songs to cater to low vibrational band heads? Where is the BCU that played MUSIC and focused on their arranging and sound strenghts?

Some weird shift happened after 2015, they were extremely aggressive when they battled Talladega in 2015 then I heard the band again in 2021 and that was NOT the same band AT ALL.

I’m still trying to see what they selling to these kids to want to play for BCU. The book is stale and they don’t travel. Those are two things outside of the program’s pedigree to want to join. So what they selling because I can’t see how they keep numbers. 🤷🏾♂️

True BCU have a small music book and need to add more up to date songs to their book, but honestly they sound good as hell... SU sounds good at times without the blasting because you can clearly hear some wrong notes and it comes from trying to hit those high ass notes, once you get that blasting under control then SU would definitely be something to recon with. We can also argue about how SU field shows are horrible so both bands have their flaws...
BCU has no upper brass presence once so ever …you can’t possibly try and play on SU sound

@@JP-oh6mh SU sounded better with better dynamics and articulation. SU is superior BCU need to do more musically to even compete. SU musicians are more skilled with tone quality and range. Arrangements outclassed BCU book plus BCU had some intonation issues towards the end

Never thought I’d see the day the juke become a BORING band man. They’ve really took on their directors personalities. Bland if you will. Gone are the days of excitement. Doc directing with force, Mr. J “bringing that mustard”, Knighten directing with elegance, Haymer with the pizazz, and B with the flavor. The truth hurts man. There’s folks out there claiming their “saving the book for txsu”. Well that just shows how much of a threat TXSU has become. It’s been a great run for the “S”, but until major staff changes take place, they’ve officially hit rock bottom.
