Canning wax is a readily available option. It’s food safe obviously since it’s for canning. You can find it at any grocery store where they have canning supplies, it’s cheap and you get a lot of wax. I reuse a glass jar. I’m in the Chicago area and the brand they have by me is Gulf Wax.
Usually they have microwaves in the kitchen, but I prefer to arrange my flowers prior to delivery. I work with wafer paper, so it is lightweight and never caused me any issues. I have a detailed video here: astashkinacakes.com/flower-arrangement/

Hello! The product I use called wafer paper - made out of potato starch, oil and water. Ask your local cake suppliers
