Shocking Discoveries Inside Abandoned Funeral Home

- This abandoned funeral home was a long standing community staple within a small rural town, but that all changed back in 2019 when the owner was cited for nefarious and shady business practices, causing the state to intervene and shut the funeral home down for good.
During our explore, we were shocked to find several caskets, cabinets full of death records, an intact embalming room, and even cremains left behind. But nothing prepared us for what we discovered inside a couple of the caskets. Horrifically and unbelievably, we found possible blood stains from what most likely would have been deceased bodies that laid inside the caskets at some point in time.
It’s possible that the fluid stains could have been from leaking embalming fluid, however, either way this should have not happened with any body and with everything else that happened here, it may actually make sense especially since the funeral home had already been in hot water for their rather shameful conduct.
The once successful funeral home served the modest community for over 50 years before its permanent closure in 2019. The unexpected closure of the funeral home left many local residents shocked and saddened, and prompted questions about the reasons behind its sudden shutdown.
After the state board came in to investigate they found that the funeral homes owner had been pocketing clients money that was supposed to be set aside for their own funeral expenses or their loved one’s funeral costs. After being heavily sanctioned and fined by the state board, the owner was unable to come up with the money owed and subsequently, the funeral license was revoked.
This decision meant that the funeral home would not only be shut down, but would never be allowed to reopen again.
In conclusion, the closure of the funeral home can be mainly attributed to greed, as well as the internal management and operational challenges that it faced. It is a reflection of the broader trends affecting the funeral industry and the changing landscape of small businesses in rural communities.
Despite the closure, we can only hope that the legacy of the one time reputable funeral home will continue to resonate within the community it served for over 50 years.

I always wondered the “dirty side” of the industry. It’s something that is never talked about. When my parents passed away I told the funeral director to make sure they were my parents ashes I was getting back and not somebody else’s. You just never know and this confirms it.
My assumption, based on nothing, is that they were reusing caskets, to save money. Or some of the bodies got up and left after their wake or funeral.

@abandonedcentral I looked up "2019 funeral home shut down by state", and there were A LOT that popped up. All over the US. Creepy. I think a lot just had elderly people running them that kind of lost it. Lots of family owned funeral homes started going out of business because of corporate funeral homes. Thanks for the videos!
could be the police who took the bodies,to confirm their identities if it was one of those cases where undertakers reused caskets and just got rid of the bodies in their garden,there were severel af these very big cases around 2000,i remember ond where there were so many bodies buried behind the business house and crematorie that they had to blurr out half the screen on the news footage and you could still see arms and legs just sticking up from the ground,im not easy to spook,but that really shook me,and i dont even live in US.
Some times coffins are rented for funerals and then transferred to a wooden box for burial, this is a cheaper option for families with limited funds, but the fluid in them is inexcusable, not very good embalming at all...

If they were rental caskets then yes, fluids would have leaked the issue would be if liners and linens were not replaced after each body, in my state a rental casket can only be used 3 times and then must be destroyed my very good friend was killed in 2005 and he was the 3rd body to be displayed in the rental casket and therefore he and the casket were cremated together, a beautiful high end mohogany casket that had been damaged and repaired, flowers covered the huge scratch so no one knew, looks like this place could have been poaching caskets...meaning family pays huge amount for a casket their loved one is laid out in the casket and the family leaves before the body is actually buried...once the family is gone cheap casker or cardboard box is exchanged for the high end casket and that same casket is re sold...I ALWAYS recommend family stays until that last bit of dirt and sod is replaced and then visits daily for the first few weeks, just to make sure no switcheroo takes place...it does happen

I would try and find out why that no one has gone back to that funeral home and cleared it all out. Those coffins are definitely still in very new condition. This Funeral home has to be sorted out, and those coffins could be sold. And all the paperwork needs to be sorted out and put somewhere safe. Those cremated remains should be given to the family.

They weren’t embalming bodies they were butchering them. No wonder they were shut down. I know when you’re dead you’re gone,but the least they could have done is shown some respect for the dead.
i really think you should try to get peoples attention,these remains has to be sorten out and dekivered to whoever should have them or they need to be buried in a decent way,this is not in any way okay. that city must have some health department and if they wont listen im sure some local news channel will be interested in your footage.
no matter what happened to make this place be abandoned this way this is indecent to the deceased and their families,it has to be resolved.

Those are caskets used for the viewing process, so the bodies were leaking fluids. In some cases, the bodies would be transferred to less expensive caskets for actual burial.

Now each state has its own laws but most likely those caskets with the body fluids were rentals used for the funeral service as the deceased was going to be cremated.
The caskets are so sicking and disturbing. Such utter disrespect and sad especially with the creameated remains left behind .
Bizarre, undignified but yet unsurprising. Personally I think a lot of shady stuff goes on in these places. I have often thought about the ashes of a love one and if you know you are getting the right one. This sort of confirms my suspicions.

The most disturbing part of this video is the cremains just left there like trash. My brother passed in 2002. His cremains remain at the funeral home 22 years after his passing. His wife, at the time, was angry that he died. He was an alcoholic. He was a working optician. His wifr wanted him to stop drinking after their daughter was born. Unfortunately he didnt. So she never picked up his cremains. My Dad never knew where they were so i outright asked her. The look on his face was heartbreaking. 💔😢

What happens is the families pick out a casket after it's relined & paid for. Then after service they bury them in a different cheap box. The families don't know they think what they paid for is underground.

@SharonJones-ql8oy They may not have any family left or the family is unable to afford to claim them, a lot of times that is unfortunately the case.

All those cremated remains need to be reported to the coroner to contact the families. The death certificates need to go to the Public Health offices as they should go to state records. So sad😢😢

Bodies leak fluid after being buried.
They defrost and become rubbery.
They've been kept in a freezer for preservation for the funeral.
Never frozen...kept at a temp of 35-40°

Blood? The body should've been drained of all blood when the organs were removed. Unless there was a killer storing their victims in it.

Seems I have heard that it was, in days gone by, common practice to use a coffin over and over when the deceased people were being cremated. Seems practial to me. Some of the mess could be from setting abanded and people rummageing thru things. It is still sad! It does make one eonder why the ctemated temains were not buryed?? But then most cemetarys are even greeder then some funeral homes!!?

Other urbex shows on here call the police to report it so that the remains might be given to family.
I worked in a funeral home and you'd be surprised at how many families don't want the ashes back.

They use color in the formaldehyde to give a more natural flesh look to the corpse. That fluid will leak out of the corpse over time and circumstances. Think about any tears in the skin or holes from wounds. Even the stitching from the incisions made to access the arteries for embalming will allow for leaks. Ears, nose plugged with cotton to prevent premature leakage during the wake. Not hard to grasp why a corpse would leak, more a question of why a casket that had a body wasn't buried. Possisbly a rental for viewing pre creamation? Let your imagination run wild, I'm sure you won't be too far off after you fall under the hands of an undertaker. Pure butchery anyway you slice it😅 Once you learn what they do to your corpse after death, the more you want to just opt out🤢😔trapped in your own pudding🤮

This was horrible. That would have given me the heebie jeebies walking through that. OK, the state closed it down, but surely someone has to be "responsible" for clearing the place? It's not just a building being left to rot, but everything else inside it and who knows what could leak where and damage who knows what elsewhere? People's remains - I wonder why they weren't "claimed"? I don't understand why it's allowed to happen 😕
When the state shuts the property down the state is responsible for cleaning out the building. They just never do that and always leave it as is.
