For me it does not work. I really follow all the steps exactly. No matter how many times I repeat the process DFU NEVER works, it will always show apple logo and reboot as usual. I repeat, I am following exactly the steps same as in the video. Not sure what is wrong.

Before doing this, I’d suggest (if you can) to physically back up the phone with iTunes to the computer and also to iCloud. Interesting how they changed that button combination thing. I have an iPhone 7+ so this is very useful for me since I’ll be upgrading to either iPhone Xs or iPhone Xs Max eventually.
Hi. Please help So I have tried to follow these steps. When I use the charger it does show the computer and restore on screen, but as soon as I remove it to connect to the computer it shows a completely black screen. What could be wrong? Basically doesn't respond to screen
Also volume up followed by volume down then hold power to power off will work and imo that's a better way bc u don't have to enter password if u change mind about powering off.

You do not need to have your usb cable nor computer to boot into recovery. I needed this to force the phone to stay on long enough to gather enough charge to boot..
