This is probably the first video I’ve seen that has an actual amp instead of an digital amp. It sounds so much identical to the actual tone. Sounds amazing man.
I know today's people just listen to shitty pop, And if they play instruments they got, Electric Drums, Digital amps, Digital pedal effect processers, bitch use the real thing
@@RomeoTRM Yeahhh I mean I'm 20 , I grew up listening to metallica 24/7 from my mom and dad so metallica has always been there for me throughout my life. I love to listen to the isolated tracks and just listen to how amazing and how much effort they put into their work. But I can say , I used bias for my metallica tones because I'm too poor to replicate their tone on my Line 6 Spider IV.
This is so perfect. It has that punch-to-the-guts sound with every single palm mute that is on the album. If my guitar sounded like this I would just chug away on the low E for hours.
The exact settings of the Mesa Boogie from AJFA are in the book of the AJFA box. There are Flemming's records showing exactly which setting the boogies had.
@@RDamps I know you said we will get some love tones soon I’m hoping we get more 90’s live tone like from 1992-1993 Metallica live tone best live tone I heard was from those years and also maybe some load/reload tones
Impulse responses have saved me from quitting guitar all together. I’ve always been a tone cloner. Never had the means to perfectly match this tone, but what Begalus did on RUclips was such a game changer! Your tone tho is a perfect match. Nicely done sir!
Im new to the more technical stuff in tone replication, what's impulse response? How do you fiddle with it, is it a monitor thing or a plug in or whatever.
Defnitely the most accurate AJFA tone on RUclips. Quad track this and I probably wouldn't be able to tell a difference between this and the studio recording
This is actually insane. I'm trying my best to hear any differences in your tone, but it legit sounds like isolated guitar tracks from the album. Incredible work!
Good rich fat but not over-saturated sound. Realistically this is probably the closest a human being can reproduce, without having bunch of studio amps and mixing. Well done
Great tone man. To clarify, you're running the Boogie into the power stage of the peavey, and then that goes to the load box which goes to the helix with the IR loader? I use Logic Pro and use VSTs/plugins like amp cabs and sims, is this the same as an IR loader? I always figured a clean tone was run through the amp before feeding it to an amp sim? Cheers!
I too have been obsessed with THAT Boogie sound. The best Metallica tone in my opinion. It's a bit more aggressive on Justice, but I kinda like the Master sound better. Another sound I have been obsessed with is the guitar sound on Danzig's first album. I have pretty much nailed that with my Marshall SV20H and also with my UAD 1959SLP plug-in.
I noticed your output signal is stereo, not mono. Are you achieving this by a delay that splits the signal and makes it sound bigger or are you running 2 IR's / Stereo IR? Great video btw, I just ordered a MB studio preamp and gonna toy around with it pretty soon :-)
Holy shit dude this like listening to them just mucking around in the studio this is the closest I’ve ever seen anyone get to mastering their tone outstanding job man
Hey I came across your video and I immediately fell in love with your tutorial and I subscribed. Can you do a tutorial on the Seattle 89 tone? Preferably the Blackened or Master of Puppet tone from that live show
You nailed it! Now, I gotta find myself that preamp! Currently rocking a 1994 Mesa Boogie DC-5 Studio Caliber 22 (with an '87 Gibson Explorer w/ Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker EMGs) -- great Mesa, but it cannot do tones like this. Incredible job!
This badass man, it sounds just like Justice. I've been trying to get this tone with amps and pedals, it is one of my favorite guitar tones. What is the EQ settings on it?
Bloody good effort Chris.. I'm in my 70's so was weened on Black Sabbath which was of course, a major influence on Metallica's style. I have three Metallica albums and I love them. It's ironic that I play 'rockabilly' as I always had a fascination with the right hand techniques used by Elvis's guitarist Scotty Moore (The Sun recordings, not the crap that followed it !), and Carl Perkins among many others. Keep on rockin mate ..
Please do an updated version of this tone, would love to see some more riffs and how exactly you dialed in this tone, also looking to purchase this preamp and figure out how to connect to an interface
Seems like the guitar really has to have an explorer "voice" to be able to replicate the sound accurately without coming across as synthetic. Other demos I've heard are either way too nasally or muddy but this sounds almost exactly like the album. What action and neck relief do you run on this guitar?
Don’t let anyone tell you EMG’s make all guitars sound the same. It’s BS. The explorer shape really does give distinct lower growl. Even EVH said he loved the tone of his Ibanez destroyer before he took a chunk out of it (near the bridge). I think it has to do with that mass of wood behind and around the bridge too. I have my action pretty low with very little relief. My strings do rattle (no fret buzz though) a little bit. I thinking of raising it a little. Also if you go too heavy on the strings you loose bite I find
@@RDamps Thanks for the tips! I've had similar experiences with lighter strings having more "bite", especially when combined with the slight rattle and extra treble that comes with a lower action. My LTD EX doesn't seem to have that low-mid growl like the real explorers do though, for whatever reason...it always sounds thin and nasally regardless of the amp it's going into.
@@RDamps Haaa Nice! Im on the hunt for a power amp for my Studio Pre! Going into the power amp of the Dual Rec actually works pretty nicely! Thats what Ive been doing1
