Certainly experienced that in Cursed 3. Throughout the second third of the game, there's this strange sort of shadow-monster, thT will instantly kill you, if you provoke it. You find it in random spots throughout the house--and you're supposed to just walk away whenever you come across it. However, in the last hour of it, you find who it truly is, and set out to find it...only to discover it is waiting for you. You two are sealed in the room, and this music plays.
that's true, the map design could've used the work so it isn't so much of a headache, and the presentation was lacking. If they fixed those and a couple of other small things, MASTA PIECE
I remember watching for the first time.. him coming out of the chest.. like holy shit..then this evil theme drops... I don't even want to attack him...chills... good memories
Nice to know Falz decided to use the same "hiding place" twice in the series...I guess that's the benefit of your main opposition not lasting 1000 years every time you break free.
@@foxmulder4318 Dragon Quest V did it too, and it pulled it off much better. There was actual character development for the wives & the children. PS3 still has the craziest plot twist though.
WOW!... I get a strong godly vibe from this theme. I played through PS4 and the Dark Force music in that one is simply amazing, the King of Terror indeed. The final boss theme is the very definition of action packed music for a sci-fi phantasy type of game. Now I need to hear the Dark Force theme in PS2(using the initials for this game series is quite strange for me, PlayStation was a thing before PlayStation was EVEN a thing, initially speaking lol)!
This is a really epic final boss theme. Perfectly illustrates the feeling of, “You have no chance, you’re going to die”. Though not as good as both of PSIV’s final boss themes, this is definitely better than both PSI and PSII’s final boss themes.
Right. I've had to fight you three times already, big guy. Thanks to the genesis collection's save state capabilities, getting to the end of all 4 routes had a lot less replaying than it did way back when. At least, so I assume. That said, I'm gonna take you down one last time and put this game to bed for good! It's just you standing between me and getting to play what people consider the best Phantasy Star! I wanna figure out why that is for myself! SO BRING IT ON!
+Kei Nanjo if he means music wise, dark forc didn't have a theme in 2 and in 4, his boss theme was shared with many enemies up until profound darkness.
+James Evans He/she/it did have a different theme in PS 4. He/she/it didn't have either the Defeated at A Blow! or Laughter music as his theme. His/her/it's theme was called "The King of Terrors", and that was used for DF 1,2, and 3.
This whole wind up motif should have been present in more of the game's theming and atmosphere, it only ever rears its head in the battle tracks (except for balance?) and in the menu ui. It's a shame, bc the more medieval feeling setting could have driven it forward, the kind of cogs and gears that turn for generations. Idk, writing a video essay in a comment section is kinda bad form anyway, lmao.
Note to everyone encountering Dark Force: Get rid of the left hand first It may have only 300 HP but it knows Gires, which can restore its own HP real quick if your damage output isn't high enough (198 at the max, which is 66% of its HP). Best way to do this is with Wren and his Nei-Shot, which deals about 240 damage per hit. Hella useful.
Phantasy star 3 is lame compared with the other games of the saga, but this final boss with this ost was epic. Probably, the only thing that remains being epic and glorious even if you compare it with the others.
The soundtrack for this game is so good how did they manage to make it worse than the previous ones? The only things I find good on this game is the music and the multiple endings
I liked the concept that each generation characters depended on who you married and that you where basically living on a giant colony ship, those concepts weren't really fleshed out, so ya while I still enjoyed the game it was the weakest game in the series.
@@newhope33 This is why this one deserves the AGES treatment (because it didn't get a Generation remake). Also yeah the game was probably too big for the console to be fleshed out.
Playing without the instruction booklet or a guide is agonizing, especially now when they wouldn’t ever tell you how the battle icons work, or what the different spells do. Also, some parts of the game are straight up just corridors or just walking town to town, they didn’t give any of them personalities- even the ones in the first game on Master System had SOMETHING to them if they remade it, they could definitely get something out of it
Dark Force is a joke. Destroy the hand that casts Gires, have a healer spam Gires, and you can't lose. An underwhelming boss battle to end a crappy game. And the third generation always ends with a Dark Force fight. That removes any aspect of individuality from the "generations", because you basically end up with the same shit.
in their defense darkforce takes a different aproach each time and the story is different based on your decisions. also the result of defeating him is different for each generation so their is something. (not alot but something)
The most OP Mimic you'll find in an JRPG
whats worse you KNEW it was comming they had it in the first and second game.
i dunno, Romansing SaGa series had some scary mimics.
Not really, Mimics are usually way overleveled compared to when you find them, dark forces fight is difficulty is relative to when you encounter him.
No. The most OP Mimic was in Phantasy Star II.

First time i opened that chest: "OH SHIT!!! That's not a trimate, that's Dark Force!!!"
Dude I LITERALLY DIED WHILE FIGHTING HIM!
Probably the ONLY last boss ever to wait inside a chest.
ahhh its just a mimic... no wait! :O
A chest sweet it might have a Star Mist. Wait a minute...Shit that's no Star Mist that's Dark Force!!
in PS2 Dark Force is found inside of a chest as well
@@TheDarklugia123 True, but in PS2 he's the penultimate boss, trying to protect Mother Brain because it needs her for it's plans
Dark Force is in a chest in the original Phantasy Star as well. The idea being that the chest is Pandora's Box
Now this is fight music. You know the enemy means business with this music.
Certainly experienced that in Cursed 3. Throughout the second third of the game, there's this strange sort of shadow-monster, thT will instantly kill you, if you provoke it. You find it in random spots throughout the house--and you're supposed to just walk away whenever you come across it.

A shame this game was so rushed when it first came out. If they had time this could have been a masterpiece.

@@Mingodough The battle animations ... the horror
I loved it and still do.
It wasn't really rushed. It was cartridge size limitations. The developers wanted more quests, but thanks to the 6 Mbit cart, they cut them
Imagine if they had decided to release this on Sega CD...it would have been epic.
Dark Phallus has to be the coolest boss in any RPG!
Discovered this through the new updated version of Cursed 3.
I still think Dark Force and this music are the best boss/music combo in gaming history.

The Dark Force song is a final boss music masterpiece.
I kicked his ass in all generations and with all characters
This fight was so fucking epic. Such a fantastic theme fitting it.
Playing this at work. I'm like don't be alarmed people, it's only Dark Force
Fantastic boss tune for finishing PS3.
Sounds like the dark force fapping
Man, if there was anything good about this game (I really like this game in ways), it was the music.
I always thought this game was cool. The generation system was unique way back. In those days.
Not only music. The setting and story are great. The only crucial flaw is the gameplay.
