I was a single father, raised my twin son's alone here, but obviously not alone because we had God every day. My son's were baptized and believing, going to church regularly and volunteer all of us. Once they turned 18, the moment they did, 3 days later they argued and cursed me, literally walked out of our house, said they resent me and walked out with anger. I pray for them everyday, my own mother has also enabled them and allowed them to continue to disrespect me, and I forgave them all. I cannot fix what was broken, only God can.

I'm asking for someone who still to this day has a verbal and mentally abusive mother ...the person is 49 and still seem controlled & manipulated ....Her mother talks down on her ...plants fear in her heart ...
Do you keep your distance & love them from a distance?
    Now me ...?
I forgave my mother (probably not fully after seeing this) and she has passed ...but I believe I forgave her & my step dad is still living but he says things to "on purpose" to make me angry or depressed...so this year I was cutting him off completely...
I will continue to pray about this and take the advice from Derek ...though ...to double make sure ...

I have the same problem. Sometimes I struggle with knowing for sure what forgiveness is, if it's not healthy to talk to them. I pray for them and pray God blesses them. I would help them in an instant if they needed it, but to be close, wouldn't be good. They know how to guilt and manipulate better than anyone else sometimes.

We have to respect our parents but that doesn’t mean we have to agree with them and what they believe or their actions. We forgive. We lean on Christ. On the cross. If the parent is abusive then it is not healthy to be around them. We cannot control others but we can control ourselves and choose a life following Jesus or our emotions. One leads to life and the other to death. We give God our pain and what we can not control and trust that if we give it up to Him He will take care of it. We must have faith to let go and let God. It’s giving God a job as we lean on Him for strength and guidance. Take comfort in this. With God all things are possible.
“But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.””
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
When it feels impossible to forgive or restore a relationship. Give it to God. Give Him a job. That is a heavy burden He is willing to lift from you.

That last part just gave me a whole understanding of how people unknowingly use sorcery through drugs. Unknowingly they are serving Satan. Also gives me a broader perspective and understanding when Jesus said on the cross. “Father, Forgive them for they know not what they do”
It really isn’t our place to judge is it?

      John 7:24 Judge righteous judgment
"Test the spirits to see whether they be of God."

    • @Wild_Pearl
      @Wild_Pearl 14 часов назад +1

@ amen! we are suppose to judge their fruits yes. “Know them by their fruits”
It is God who judges, the Holy Spirit convicts and we as Christians are to love “love thy neighbor” that means even our enemies.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We can never be righteous. It is the grace of what Jesus did on that cross that gives us Jesus’s righteousness. We follow Him by denying ourselves and carrying that cross.
“But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

@@kayetroniczentertaimentmus7048 I hear you. One of the commandments is to honor your father and mother but kids/teens/young adults seem to forget this commandment when they are having a bad day.
First, understand that no one is immune to having bad days. We as parents have bad days and so do kids/teens etc. So understanding that there might be something underneath their rebellion. Maybe friend issues or school stress. Your not justifying their behavior but just see all points of view.
As Pastor Derek Prince mentioned, we us as parents may be to blame for the rebellion. We may have done or said things to our kids when they were younger that they are still holding on to and remember. So looking at ourselves as imperfect people when our kids are disrespectful is not a bad idea. We aren’t perfect parents.
Next, You must continue loving them and being patient and praying for them and interceding for them. Your pride will hate this and your flesh will not want to, but do it. Kids are going through a lot and when they act out… sometimes they just need more love.
Your reactions to when they act rebellious/disrespectful means everything and that’s what they will remember forever.
Your reactions also tell God if you are really trusting Him or if you think you can handle (control) the situation yourself (you can’t). God can do a million times better than any screaming you can do.
We must be the example of Jesus Christ. How much mercy has He extended to you when you don’t deserve?
How many times has He forgiven you for all your sins?
How many times have you not felt like praying or worshiping Him but yet He is there the moment you decide to talk with Him.
We as parents have absolutely no right to be bitter or loose patience with our kids no matter their rebellion.
(Notice I didn’t say it was easy. Jesus never claimed it would be) we are to crucify our flesh daily and continue to love on them, we must continue to take the narrow path even with our kids. We must continue to release forgiveness every time they hurt or disrespect us. Doing so will not only make them realize they are acting selfishly but it also shows our trust in God that HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT, THAT WE TRUST HIM TO CHANGE THEIR HEARTS. God will change their hearts and convict them. But when we decide to yell or demand respect from our kids, that shows UNBELIEF, UNTRUSTING TOWARDS GOD. When we react in anger, rage or yell back at our kids we are trying to control and yell the rebellion off of them, we try to change them ourselves when only God can do it.
(I have a 14 year old so I can attest to everything I’ve said. It’s hard to take the narrow path, but it’ll be worth it once you see God change them. I’ve walked away hurt by my daughter, cried secretly, felt angry and my pride was screaming inside but I prayed and forgave every time disrespect happens, and now my daughter is doing soooo much better)

Thank you so much for sharing the sermons by the late Derek Prince. They are full of wisdom and very edifying (his teachings are inspired by the Lord).
On another topic, there is this background music that plays for the duration of the video. I'm not sure what is the reason for this music. When Derek Prince ministered he didn't use any background music. The word of God does not need any special effects.
There have been many requests to remove the music and I humbly ask that you will do same.

I have a hard time forgiving my father. Funny thing is in every way he was an amazing father. He provided everything I need. He encouraged me to go to church, made sure I had excellent education. Never left my mom. But he was so mean spirited and just cruel. Its hard to explain. He would come and pick me up from work and yell at me bitterly for arriving at the car a few minutes late. He would yell at me bitterly for buring food once in a while. He was so mean to me like I disgusted him. I dont know. Now Im older and I can drive myself to places and no longer depend on him for anything. Now he needs my help now and again and I just dont want to interact with him. I want him to lead his life without involving me. I have bitterness in my heart. He tries to be friendly to me but my heart closed a long time ago. I know this is wrong and I feel justified on my anger and bitterness. I say this as a confession and I ask the Lord to see my need for His help. Its too big a task for me to accomplish on my own. But I want to obey God more than being correct. I accept this teaching and I am prepared to forgive my father and to allow the Holy Spirt to help me release him. Amen
