      Really good point actually. I saw it as timid at first but as it goes on she is childlike. She must have had some trauma in her life that stunted her mental growth. I really see a broken soul here. 💔

      I think she also thinks that way because of her childhood. We also have to be mindful of that as well, I’m not making any excuses for her what’s so ever, but from what she was saying in her story being abused and mistreated. That fear comes into your adult life, especially with “being afraid to call” she didn’t want to disappoint him, but at the same time she wasn’t putting effort into but she probably doesn’t think she can truly do it. When you have people that enables you, and not getting that help that you need early on, it does linger around. I think she needs therapy and figure things out, when Dr.Now asked if anyone was coming down with her, her own mother didn’t even speak up…or say anything. Like I don’t think she’s being supported at all. Some takes time to get motivated and some are super quick with it. I do think it’s ridiculous to go all the way down to your appointment when you know you weren’t putting effort into it. And to lose your diet plan again & then the email he sent?? That part was annoying. But yes just my theory on why she behaves like that.

    I just watched the full episode. Seana moved to Houston by herself. Her mother moved to Arizona. Seana lost the diet & exercise paperwork 4 times. In therapy, she avoided or refused to talk about her most difficult issues. In the end, she gained weight. I am not a therapist but I would say she suffers from arrested psychological development. I truly hope she gets the help she needs.

    • @erwinlommer197
      @erwinlommer197 2 года назад +42

      I really doubt it has anything to do with arrested psychological development. To me she just feels like she can't do it so she doesn't even want to try so she can protect herself from failure. She obviously has lots of issues with feelings of extreme shame and guilt and because of lack of trust she may have not learned to share her emotions. Or has learned to hide them.
      What she needs in the end is just some results that will prove to her that she can do it. What she needs is confidence. I'm certain once she has that confidence in her ability to lose weight she will be motivated by her results and gets to her target weight eventually. But if she doesn't she will stay depressed and she will kill herself with that over eating.
      Lack of self value and confidence and the horrible mind tricks that come from that, even depression, may look to an outside like childish issues or lazyness. But it isn't like that. She has given up. She just doesn't believe she can do it. So she doesn't even try. Instead she is avoiding it by faking that she lost the papers. It almost feels like it is the weight that is making her depressed which in turn is killing her self confidence which causes her to not even try losing weight because she wants to protect herself from failure.

She wouldn't lose weight and after 8 months she finally lost a total of 36 hoping that it would qualify her for the surgery and saying that Dr Now would now show that she's serious. By month 10 she had gained an additional 13 pounds and after 12 she had gained an additional 26 pounds. After the 12 months in total she had gained 2 pounds. I'm sure she is under the care of a therapists or at least those usually in a bariatric program have therapists and nutritionist visits etc. And normally a surgeon wouldn't take a call just to have requested the diet re-sent and usually that as well as a wealth of other information for preoperative bariatric patients is online but other office staff both clinical and non clinical during non appointment needs would be dealing with the patient NOT a busy bariatric surgeon.
      This HAS to be scripted, in all of TLC's inauthenticity and desperation for content that is way more stupid than the patient could ever be, because as mad as he is, other bariatric surgeons if this happened would be done with a patient, it would be an enormous red flag to any bariatric surgeon.
      There's a vulnerability in this patient that's kind of sickening to see her manipulated and exploited in this way for ratings, I think it goes way beyond a denial about weight and health issues and bariatric surgery, but also having all of this televised for the world to see, it's very sad.

    Honestly she needs a therapist first. It’s something psychological going on where she doesn’t try losing weight and loses the book 2 times and email. Then afraid of what the doc would say but sounds like a kid when saying it. Something happened with her family where she’s afraid of confrontation and being told to do something.

    • @lisaspikes4291
      @lisaspikes4291 2 года назад +12

      I have this problem with confrontation also. My questions and problems were always met with irritation and yelling when I was a kid. Like if I had to bring something to school for a bake sale, or buy something for a project, or needed a ride somewhere, I’d get cursing and complaining that it was such a bother. God forbid mom had to do something for me! I used to dread having to tell mom anything that would require her to put a little effort into anything.
      So now, as an adult, although I mentally know she’s wrong, I neglect to tell her certain things. Even though I’m independent and can take care of myself, because I’ll still get the condescending words from her. For example, my washer stopped working a few months ago. I never told her, because she would just tell me everything I was doing wrong. I’ve been taking my time getting a new one, because I’m not sure what I want yet. I’m okay with going to the laundromat in the meantime. None of this is a problem for me. As long as I don’t tell my mom. She would bring it up every time I see her and tell me what I should get and what I should do. She’d offer to let me do my laundry at her house, but would complain about it if I did. It’s just not worth it.

They always seem shocked or intimidated by such a high number, even though losing 50 in one month for them is like losing 10 in a month for an average person. @@Info-eh4tv it really depends, with most people who are say like 30lbs overweight, the only real way to lose weight fast in excess of 1 to 2 lbs a month are generally unhealthy, such as starving yourself. I don't think it has to do so much with the actual amount of weight lost, vs the method used to lose it.
      Some people's bodies are different as well, I was 60lbs overweight and I stopped binge eating and started exercising alot and I lost like 60lbs in 4 months, I didn't starve myself or workout to excess, just ate slightly under my calorie requirements and exercised everyday and the weight just fell off. I don't think that's typical for everyone though,
      With someone who has 400 extra lbs on them, just doing basic workouts burns an insane amount of calories. Imagine how many calories you would burn if you carried a 400 lb body suit on you while you were walking. Losing 80 lbs for someone who weighs 600 is basically nothing, the body isn't going to fight you at all to let it go, your body doesn't need it and has so much extra in reserve that you shed pounds like nothing. When it gets difficult is when your body starts fighting you because your body is naturally designed to be in equilibrium, so when you get to that point, it starts taking longer and longer to shed lbs. That's where the weight loss surgery kicks in, to help you get past that stubborn point where your body doesn't want to let go of the fat stores it has.
      These last 10 lbs I'm trying to lose are being stubborn as fuck, but it's slowly happening,

      i dont know if this will help or if you should even take my advice since im not a nutritionist or an athlete but here's what i did to lose weight(I'm 5'11 went down from 212 to 160 in around 2 years). i only ate like 2 meals a day(sandwich with spinach pepperoni bologna onions lettuce tomato pickles mustard ketchup cottage cheese and wholegrain bread, spinach with grilled beef bell peppers onions potatoes etc, ravioli or whatever) and 2 snacks a day(bowl of chips, some apples, cupcake or whatever). i would do mostly cardio, when i first started i would just jog in place for as long as I could without stopping(when i first started i could only last 5 minutes but eventually i could jog in place for the full 30). id work out only 30 minutes everyday. then i started mixing in pushups squats and burpees, only bodyweight exercises. eventually id start jogging outside which was a bit harder since the wind hits you in the face and you have to breathe a bit differently than just jogging in place. id go for bike rides too, nothing too intense. then i got a pull up bar and started doing those too. i never made a big deal of it, i didnt count calories or stopped because i wasn't losing weight i just kept at it and eventually i slowly began losing weight. it's been a year since and ive kept it off, im not doing exercise the same way as when i was trying to lose weight. in fact i barely do any. every now and then i bust out the pull up bar and knock out a couple chin ups or just do 30 push ups when i get home from work. I've been lagging lately but i think it's time i start going at it again, i may be in the best shape of my life but im still not where i want to be.

As he said, you could have easily changed your diet even if you didn't know the exact details of the papers he had until you got that information. They will not approve you to get this surgery if they are not confident that you have some sort of self-control to keep the weight off after surgery.
