    hopefully this hashtag works, all the 13 year old boys on RUclips frustrated to why they see this video when looking for girls on RUclips. the sears catalog never failed..
    hopefully this helps someone understand what is going on.

    Great explanation of the system. I got to where I didn't use the inching peddle all that much on the 4020, 3020, or the 4240 we had. Just throttle down and use the brakes until I got it into park.

    I have a 4020 that has the clutch housing full of oil and it's flowing out of the starter. Looks like I will be breaking it at both splits and changing seal! I am waiting for the manual and can't wait to get to work! You make it all look so easy!

      If it's a late 4020 syncro it could be the pto pistons leaking into the clutch housing.
      Transmission input shaft can be fixed from clutch side.
      Only need 1 split

    I've replaced a few of these PTO brake cones over the years and almost all of them had the lining missing. These brakes were never meant to stop high inertia PTO loads at speed. It's best if the operator keeps the PTO engaged and uses the engine as the brake until idle speed is reached at which time the PTO can be turned off.

    That aluminum lever in side the transmission pto control valve was broke in my 4230. It was harder to remove then it was to put back together

    Hi,
    Great videos. I own a 4050 and have trouble with rockshaft 3pt operation. It does not raise fully up in “min” load setting but when I move it to max it goes all the way up. I suspect that something have happened to the internal linkage, have you ever experienced this fault on a JD? When the control arm(connected to lever in cab) is in max clockwise position (fully raised) a characteristic klick sound is observed and it klicks and jumps a a bit just before it starts to lower. Thanks

      If you scroll back through my videos you will see a 3pt settings. Have your local dealer copy the pages for you and then use the video to go along with the book.

      @@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 Thanks. I have already tried that procedure with copies of the TM section as help with no luck and my mechanic suspect something is wrong with the linkage as the lift works in min but it won’t go fully up. Is there any chance that some other type of hydraulic malfunction could cause this?

      I would lift valve housing off if adjustments aren't helping. A spring could have broke, roller came off cam follower...

      @@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 it was a pin that was missing (assume it is at the bottom of the transmission casing..) anyway good to find something that have caused this. A follow up, when hitch is in max height the tractor gives full pressure on the assist cylinders (and the main one) I have read somewhere that this is normal. Do you know if so is the case? Thanks!

    • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
      @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754  4 месяца назад

      In theory it stops from the signal of the linkage and not because the shaft can't turn anymore. I would say it wouldn't be under full system pressure

    Great video! Thank you! My early 4020 power shift pto seems like it doesn’t stop but it’s intermittent. Seems to do it more with the 1000rpm shaft in. Would that be a pressure issue?

    • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
      @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754  4 месяца назад +1

      Can't see how the different shaft would make a difference?
      Intermittent, if you have brake pressure then maybe something is at the end of its life?

      I wouldn’t have thought so either. I’m not doubting the brake could be worn out but it’s weird that it doesn’t do it all the time. That gear the brake engages, that’s an idler right?

    • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
      @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754  4 месяца назад +1

      @taylorsunderlage5176 yep it is.
      Is the lever coming all the way back? So if the pto is turning, can you cycle the handle a couple time's making sure to pull it all the way back.
