i love how you can actually somewhat follow the plot of the harkonnen invasion through the song. it starts with the whispering theme of the bene geserit who helped influence the harkonnen plot, and then changes to the loud and esoteric sounds of the harkonnens as they bomb arakeen. then it becomes more grounded and you hear bagpipes beginning to cut through the noise, followed by a triumphant crescendo when the atreides forces begin to rally. then they are quickly cut off by the sardukar battle horn followed by the chant as the sardukar finish off the atreides fighters, ending with a dying bagpipe wail.

The war scenes with this music tore my strings. Blessed to witness this epicness in IMAX.

I never noticed how the initial 90 seconds are epic but also... Kind of calm compared with what follows? Destroying a fleet & army is just another Tuesday.

Hearing the bagpipe atreides theme in the middle of the song brings me such joy and idk why.
Also seeing this part and hearing the bagpipes cheer as the men charge into battle in an IMAX theatre was otherworldly

This really demonstrates just how weird a setting Dune is - mediterraneans playing celtic bagpipes, viking like sardaukars with tibetan overtone chanting

I think the Harkonnens was more northern vikings (bloodthirstly charging to the opponents with their machette shaped like an axe) while the Sardaukar resembles some mongolian warrior with Japanese samurai stances/combat style

I hope the Atreides leitmotif gets a reprise, especially when Paul and his allies retake Arrakeen from the Emperor and the Harkonnens.
Maybe have Gurney Halleck be the one who deals the killing blow to the Beast Rabban.

The best part of the soundtrack by far. I love the contrast between the beautiful and haunting bagpipe music for the Atreides and the creepy inhuman throat singing of the Sardaukar. Even though in theaters my mind just went to the we've got a piper down scene from so I married an axe murderer lol.
