We NEED a longer version of the Sardaukar mongolian throat singing theme ! That scene where they prepare for war with that demonic chanting was one of my favorite music pieces in the movie.
I watched Dune again this time in IMAX and was a cultural experience. Also the man next to me who told me how him and his wife were huge Dune fans only for the wife to sadly pass away before getting a chance to see the movie and watching this man who was full blown sobbing during this scenes....the movie because of how moved he was. Movies move us to the core. Dune did that.
i love how you can actually somewhat follow the plot of the harkonnen invasion through the song. it starts with the whispering theme of the bene geserit who helped influence the harkonnen plot, and then changes to the loud and esoteric sounds of the harkonnens as they bomb arakeen. then it becomes more grounded and you hear bagpipes beginning to cut through the noise, followed by a triumphant crescendo when the atreides forces begin to rally. then they are quickly cut off by the sardukar battle horn followed by the chant as the sardukar finish off the atreides fighters, ending with a dying bagpipe wail.
I've noticed Hans Zimmer has a way of doing that will all of his music, amd not even for the fact that the music literally lines up that way. His translation of the emotion in music for scenes he's written for is uncanny.

No it's too loud and unnecessary at times . I don't say this as a hater since I love the soundtrack but some parts like the part where Reverend Mother's ship departs and Leaving Caladan are unnecessarily loud
I read the DUNE saga when I was younger. It was a beautiful thing to see my 13 year old son and 11 year old girl fall in love with the story. My son is itching to collect my books now lol.

This really demonstrates just how weird a setting Dune is - mediterraneans playing celtic bagpipes, viking like sardaukars with tibetan overtone chanting
I think the Harkonnens was more northern vikings (bloodthirstly charging to the opponents with their machette shaped like an axe) while the Sardaukar resembles some mongolian warrior with Japanese samurai stances/combat style
I hope the Atreides leitmotif gets a reprise, especially when Paul and his allies retake Arrakeen from the Emperor and the Harkonnens. Maybe have Gurney Halleck be the one who deals the killing blow to the Beast Rabban.
The best part of the soundtrack by far. I love the contrast between the beautiful and haunting bagpipe music for the Atreides and the creepy inhuman throat singing of the Sardaukar. Even though in theaters my mind just went to the we've got a piper down scene from so I married an axe murderer lol.

The bagpipe sound is actually a very high-pitched electric guitar, which is why it sounds so screechy.

Haven't seen the movie yet but the bagpipe section feels like the last stand of Atreides troopers punctuating the fall of their House
