Kings fan ( actually lives in 916) Carter shouldn’t be slept on. He is full of that moxy like a Russ type , he’s just not that insane athlete. If he’s in the trade Brooklyn should be happy , Huerter , Carter 1 2nd tops . If you want a first then it’s the 2031 that’s just sitting out there
Kings season ticket holder here... we are not desperate. Doug's impact has us optimistic. We are no longer in a "sell in desperation" position, but we ARE in a position to be careful not to break what we have just for a win-now hail-Mary. We would give you Kevin and Trey for Cam for sure, Devin if we have to. Trey is sneaky good - don't sleep on him. Carter is a very good defensive player - plays bigger than he is. We do have 3 point support - Keon Ellis is a gem of a 3 and D.
As a Kings fan I really don't know the exact value Cam Johnson is worth, but I'd say certainly why not do a 1st that's top 3 or top 5 protected (I'm not sure a decent starter is worth a future #1 or #2 pick that could be the next Luka or something from a value perspective). Either way you gain salary with CJ but lose it with Huerter so it seems like a wash. I'd rather try to be better now because we are trying to win in the next few years. I guess we need a forward who can 3 & D and defensive depth at the F/C spot behind Sabonis. CJ seems to fit that SF/PF 3&D role quite well right? I was hoping we could hold Huerter and he could get his groove back but for whatever reason it seems like his 3pt shooting has just fallen off a cliff and show little chance of returning. I guess Huerter does have some size and other decent attributes but CJ would certainly be a big upgrade. It could be that I see too much of this through playing GM in 2k, but it seems like if you are trying to be good you should push a decent amount of chips in. And if everything falls apart and you have to rebuild you are still mostly ok because you can trade Fox or Sabonis etc and get picks back even if you gave up some of your own picks. I think the Kings probably don't want to end up in a position where they give up picks (and they already wasted a bunch of seconds on failed experiments) and then CJ still doesn't make them much better and with the Stepien rule they now have many years of picks that are untradeable just because they traded one or two away. Now they can't make a bigger move that might have brough them into contention for a title. Also you don't want to spend a bunch of picks unprotected and then have the team have to start over and the only picks you can bring in to replace them are 25th in the draft. You say "they've drafted badly anyway". Well not exactly. Fox was drafted. Sabonis was gotten through trade for Hali who was drafted. The best players on the team were gotten via the draft. But the other option is having a prestige free agent decide to come here and that's historically not been something that's really happened much in Sactown. So if we give up too many draft picks and can't get free agents in future we really could be sol again for years.
As long as Monte McNair has been GM, he has always been very "i want versatility with our assets "(cant blame him). Kings may own their picks, but theyre so tied up in the convoluted Huerter trade is harder to make a move, if Nets want an unprotected 1st, maybe send a 2nd round pick back would sway him so they still have an asset to help improve the bench? That being said, not feeling desperate BUT they do need better bench depth -Kings fan
Why would the Kings pay an unprotected future first round pick for Cam Johnson who is going to be a player coming off the bench? Brooklyn wants "starter" trade value for Johnson but most teams that are not interested in him as a starter. Ciper is wrong. Lyles doesn't have to be included with Huerter. Huerter + Coby Jones is enough salary. The best deal that the Kings are going to offer is Huerter + Jones and protected 1st. That's it. If you get a better offer, then you should take it. And the telling thing is that if the Nets were getting unprotected first offers for Cam Johnson, then Cam Johnson would have been traded already like DFS and Schroeder have already been. The King's GM is NOT going to bid against himself.
@@michaelfredgren3910 we want it unprotected because he has the stats and the talent to start on the Kings If Cam Johnson is on the Kings he already is the best 3PT shooter on the team. You look at his analytics he has better analytics/ than Keegan and Malik monk right now. Not saying they have to start him but he's better than Keegan. How is that not worth a 1st.
@@NetsKingdom Stop with your ignorance about the Kings and 3pt shooting. You do realize that there is a Kings player leading the league in 3pt shooting percentage, right? CJ is not better than Keegan on the defensive end of the court and its not even close. The team's defense would drop with CJ having to guard the opponent's best wing player every single night. Plus, if CJ was starting with the Kings other 4 starters, I think he would be struggling to average more than 12 points a night. Go watch the last Kings-Warriors game and see how Murray and Ellis contributed into holding Curry to only 2 points in the second half of the game. You want to tell me CJ can do that on a night to night basis?
@@michaelfredgren3910 Sabonis is not leading the league he is high on the list because of his low volume he makes 1-2 three a game and only takes 2 a game on most nights. As a team you guys take a huge amount of threes and are 21-22 in percentage don’t get mad at me #s don’t lie. Your argument about Keegan’s defense is valid I accept that though. However you have to pick a poison stay like you are now and go with this team to the playoffs or improve your team. What do you think the Kings need?
@@NetsKingdom the main thing that the Kings need is bench scoring from the forward position with Monk moving to the starting 5 and Huerter falling to pieces. that is why the Kings have basically made the exact same offer for Cam Johnson, John Collins and Deni Avjida and is just waiting to see which one calls back at the end. Me personally I would like to get Santi Aldama from Memphis, but the Grizzlies have no reason to let him go right now. Also, the Kings are low on the percentage list because the "wrong" guys are taking the 3s. Fox and Monk take too many 3s while Sabonis and Murray should take more 3s. Plus, there is the whole Kevin Huerter shooting drop off this season to consider as well.
So the Nets wants two unprotected 1st rd picks & a top prospect. But yet I'm supposed to believe the Nets are gonna accept the Kings offer of just one heavily protected pick, Huerters terrible contract, two Snicker bar wrappers & a dirty tissue for Cam Johnson?
Kings keep Carter, trade Fox in part of Butler Deal and acquire Anthony Black and J Isaac and Picks, Use one of those Picks and Kevin Huerter and Trey Lyles for Cam Johnson. Then you have 2 Stud Young PGS, SGs, SF, PF, C, That team will go deep into the playoffs and stretch defenses. You also get rid of any headaches or question marks on the team.
