I really appreciate you doing the different types of wood bark. I've seen demos on smooth bark trees but this really covered the range I hope to deal with.
Great Video we actually bought two of these for Stihl chainsaws and we remove routes from people's yard to keep them from running them over with the lawn mowers and bending the crankshafts and the blades it's a lot faster with an axe and a shovel and it gets the job done just buy shaving the Root
Great attachment, maybe even outn the weight another support stabilizer bar to just lean on the body of the saw on the otherside?....😊 whatcha think? I could also use this for wood chips
Wow. I'm always amazed at what is out there. I didn't even know this kind of tool existed. Will I use one? Probably not but it looks so cool I'm almost tempted to buy one anyway. Great video.
I agree with you. There is a lot of cool stuff out there that is neat to see but realistically you don't need but would be fun to have or at least try. Thanks for watching and happy Easter!
I have considered one of these to knock the muddy bark off sawmill logs to save my mill blades. I wound only need to do debark about the area where the blade would pass on the front edge, my thinking is the backside is not as critical as it's the blowout side.. After watching you I may give one these a try,. I know mud is bad for any cutter, getting bark out the way would still help saw mill blades, even mud or no mud. I had thought of pressure washing logs but I don't always have water at mill(mobile) I went through $180. in blades on 5 logs and at 6 blades $9. to sharpen each, That would justify this.
I have used the peeler several times to remove bark on the logs just where the sawmill blade will pass for the 1st cut. And then roll the log over 180 degrees then use the log peeler once again where the sawmill blade passes before doing the 2nd cut. Once the first 2 cuts are done (the top & bottom of the log) the 3rd and 4th cut to get the log into a Cant the sawmill blade doesn't come in contact with any bark. Also, take a look at a disc grinder bark remover / log peeler as an option. If you have access to electricity or a battery powered grinder then the disc grinder may be the way to go. The chainsaw peeler is a little harder to work with and it ties up one of your chainsaw. A battery powered grinder is a little nicer since you wouldn't have an electrical cord to deal with. Although a good high output battery would be best. Anyway, it's up to you. Either way they both do a great job and stand up to tough bark and mud. And absolutely, either one will help extend the life of your sawmill blades. Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Thanks for the reply. I think I like the gas power option over the battery and right now for sure electricity is a far faint hope. And I think I could still use the saw in selected applications, I can see you lose 6-8" of bar for the bolts and bracket. But you could nub off knots or cut slats, Heck I always have 3 saws around the mill, so either way not a big deal. Thanks again. @@JelenOutDoors
I think that you may be right. I'll have to give it a try. Just thinking about it being lighter and more compact should make it easier to operate. Thanks I appreciate the tip. Have a great day!

Thank you. I am glad that the video gave you some insight regarding various barks. Thanks for watching and have a super day!

Thank you. That is a great use for the log peeler. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching and have a fantastic week!
I've not seen one of these before today. That's oddly satisfying to watch. Great video!
Thank you. It is an aggressive tool but fun to use. Have a great week!
This chainsaw log peeler is new to me. 😮😮😮 👍
The log peeler works well to get the bark off fence post etc.

@@JelenOutDoors Happy Easter to you too!
It would be great on clean bark, dirty logs with grit wouldnt last long , looks like the same head as on a electric hand planer, thanx for review
Definitely much better on clean bark but I have used it on somewhat dirty logs and the replaceable blades have held up pretty well. Have a great day!

My new stump grinder lol
Lol, thanks for watching!
great demonstration, but where can I purchase this particular log peeler - I've searched for Bozeman, but no luck.
Hi there and thank you. I purchased mine at Princess Auto (Canadian store). There are similar ones on Amazon. Not sure if Harbor Freight has them.
👍👍👍
Thanks
12 inch bar, 14 inch chain will work better?
I think that you may be right. I'll have to give it a try. Just thinking about it being lighter and more compact should make it easier to operate. Thanks I appreciate the tip. Have a great day!
Stump remover ?
You might be able to grind down small stumps.
Can anyone tell me the brand?
Brand is Bozeman
Bad idea having saw chain drive imo. Have you used belt drive units?
It's nice with the chain because I can still cut with it. No I haven't tried a belt drive unit. Have a great day!
@@JelenOutDoors seems like a waste of bar oil.
Good point, it is a bit of a waste of bar oil.
👏👏👌👌
Thanks
Where can they be bought from?
You can find them online, Hud-son Forest Equipment, Amazon, etc. Princess Auto in Canada. Not sure if Harbor Freight in the US have them.
@@JelenOutDoors yeah Thank you I got 1on E-bay👍
