147 - Mini Stump Grinder - More than just a log peeler! Powered by my Echo Chainsaw
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.14 дней назад
About 2 weeks ago I had a viewer “Tarheelsrule” who left a comment stating that they have 2 log peelers that they use to remove roots in yards so that people won’t run over them with their lawn mowers and bend the blades or crankshafts. So I decided to give it a try and it came to my mind, why not try it out on small stumps as well. The log peeler attached to my Echo chainsaw has been doing a g...

Hello Paul! You won!!! That was a big job but with some hard work and some help from your tractor, you did it. Take care.
Hello John. I did. It was a lot of work, but it was enjoyable. You too, take care!
Paul you have a really nice setup there. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Mike. I appreciate you stopping by. Have a super day!
@@JelenOutDoors 👍
Paul.... This has truly been a study of planning, execution, and diligence! Exceedingly well done!
Thank you kindly John. It was a task that I enjoyed. Have a great week!
Right after high school, I was in swimming pool excavation for a few years. I rememver this one dig had the stump of a 60 year old pecan tree to remove. This stump was around 3 feet wide. The excavator we used to dig the pools had a 2 yard bucket. We had to use a rock ripper to take out that stump. It took longe to remove the stump than to dig the pool. That stump and all its roots filled two dump trucks full.
From your experience you know the effort it takes to get big a stump with large roots out. That is a lot of stump and roots to fill 2 dump trucks. Thanks for sharing. An excavator would have been a better piece of equipment to use than my backhoe. It also had taken more effort and time for me to remove the stump than it did digging around it. Have a great week!
I have to hand it to you, you must be one of the most tenacious dedicated patient people I've ever seen. Great job on that stump.
Thanks. I do have a lot of determination and love a good challenge. Have a super week!
Wrong! Firstly you must have a ridge cut regarding desired angle/pitch. Then if you want to apply this method, you have to temporarily connect it to the ridge with an offset by the same thickness of the wood block you are using here, then you can mark and cut, it would fit perfectly. If you don’t do, unless you cut the ridge side exactly same way (not a good idea, it will make the rafter weak and the wood will crack from there under force), you will end up with different incline and have gaps at both sides. Those gaps can be dramatic regarding how deep you cut the birds mouth, because you simply decreasing the inclination angle with that cut.
The way I have done it is correct in relation to the way the top is done. Here is the link for the top. ruclips.net/user/shortspRlzk0hAS7I Have a great day!
How's she goin'? Wow, that's a big stump and it gave you a pretty good fight, but you mastered it in the end. Nice idea to use the saw to quarter the stump and break in pieces. A lot of work eh. Nice job though. Take 'er easy!!
It's going good Mike. Thanks. It was a lot of work and I really enjoyed the challenge. I had to break up the stump into sections as it was too large and too heavy for my backhoe and tractor to handle in one piece. Have a super week!
Hopefully you're enjoying your new backhoe by now! If you don't mind me asking, how much did the subframe kit run you?
I am really enjoying the backhoe, thanks. I don't recall the exact cost, but it was around $1600 Canadian. In the US it is listed at $1256.70 on the Messick's website. Here is the link www.messicks.com/parts/BH4966 Have a great week.
👍👍👍 Job well done!
Thanks, it was a lot of work and I enjoyed every minute of it. Have a super Sunday!
🚜🚜🚜I don’t think my “Clementine” will be powerful enough to do this kind of work…Clementine is our BX23s Kubota. Well Done Paul!
Thank you Mr. Garry. The BX is pretty powerful, just may take a little longer to do the job. Take care and have a fabulous Sunday!
What a monster! My wife was laughing at me as I was coaxing the stump along while I was watching the video. Today I watched a coyote doing something in a field I was raking in that I’ve never seen before. I’ll have a video out on that soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend!
By the way, your water system was a great piece of equipment to have for that job. Very nice!
It was a good size stump. Lol, my wife would do the same if it was me. Looking forward to seeing the coyote. You too, enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Thanks Brian, I am really happy with the watering system, it has been very handy.
Ho boy, I forgot to mention that crater look like the same pictures from WW1 In Northern France in the Somme Valley 😮
It is a pretty big crater. Take care Sir!
Good Evening To Both Of You 👍👍😇😇👌👌Very Nice Music and Backhoe Work 😇👍💪 That is a Massive stump 😮I would have been tempted to call my explosive military friends to help me✨✨ or burn it during winter time 🔥🔥You found a very good way to have a mission success 😇💪👍Keep Up Your Marvelous Husband and Wife Team Work Cheers 👍👍👌👌🍻🍻
Good morning Sir and thank you. It was a very enjoyable mission. Your military friends or a winter burn are great ideas. Have a fantastic Sunday!
One down, two to go! That was quite a job, Paul. I just came in from bucking some trees, so it was nice to see someone else dealing with chainsaws and trees.
It was a fair bit of work Rick, but I really enjoyed it. Have a super Sunday
Well done Paul. Brent
Thanks Brent. Have a super weekend!
You have yourself an awesome pool or pond! Well done.
Sure do Ross. Thanks and have a fantastic weekend!
Good day Paul. Stump removal is a tough job. Enjoy the journey - cheers
Good morning Bob. it is tough work, but I really enjoy it. Have a superb weekend!
Great job Paul. That was a lot of hard work. Nice video.
Thank you Tod. I really enjoy the hard work. Have a fantastic weekend!
That's some hard work and determination right there! Great job Paul 🤠👍
Thanks Sam. It was a lot of work and I enjoyed every minute of it. Have a super weekend!
Hi Paul, I wonder if you could add a small portable pressure washer to your watering trailer? I can't believe how big the stump is 😳 and you have two more to do 😳 but hey you'll be having some great backhoe therapy 😉😂👍🏻. Those huge pieces will probably burn for days 🥴. Have a great weekend Paul 🙋🏼♂🇨🇦
Good morning Luc. Absolutely, a small pressure washer could be installed within a few minutes. There is a spigot on the rain barrel for a pressure washer. I can also quite easily increase the pressure on the current system. There was a lot of backhoe therapy. No burning, just discarding all of the stump pieces and roots. You too, have a great weekend!
amazing, well done 👍🙏👏
Thanks, have a great week!
Explosives
That would make for quick work. Have a great evening!
Paul...you guys grow them big up there!!!! I know you must be happy you put the time in on adding the backhoe!
Good morning John. Some do grow pretty big. It's been a blast putting time on the backhoe. Have a fantastic week!
Holy smokes, that thing is huge. In the old days, they would have gone to the local hardware and picked up some Dynomite Lol. That is a lot of work for you and a good workout for your tractor too. Good luck
Thanks John. Lol, that thought had gone through my mind. It's a lot of work but very enjoyable. It is one of 3 that size that I am pulling out. I find it very satisfying when they come out. Have a super week!
That is a big stump, should keep you busy for a while, great video
Thanks Mike, I have 2 more just like it that I am taking out. They sure do take a fair bit of time to take out. Have a super day!
Good morning Paul, wow, that is a huge stump. Looks like your exercise program is all laid out for the rest of the summer. Thanks for taking us along. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
Good morning Ben. It is a good size stump and yes plenty of physical exercise involved getting it out. Thanks for watching and you too, have a great week!
👍👍👍 Wow! It's a monster stump 🪓🪓🪓
Good morning, it is a monster. it's like a giant octopus. Have a super Sunday!
How to turn a two minute video into 15 minutes
Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Paul, that is one big task. People don't realize what's involved.
It sure is a big job Kenny and I have 2 more stumps just as big to tackle. Have a super day!
Rumor has it. Paul is still to this day chopping at that stump.
Chop, chop ....chop, it's all fun!
Wow! What a stump!!! Paul doesn't get "stumped"... ya dig it?!? 🤠👍
That's right Sam. I have 2 more just as big that I want to remove. And yes I'll dig it. Have a fantastic evening!
Good morning Paul. That is a huge stump! Good luck getting that thing out!
Good evening Tod. It's the first of 3 stumps of this size that I am removing. I enjoy this type of work. Have a super evening!
The stump is HUGE Paul but it looked like a good fun workout for you and the backhoe. Can't wait to see part 2 👍🏻. The camerawoman is doing a great job 👍🏻. A great weekend to both of you 👍🏻🙋🏼♂
Thank you kindly Luc. Absolutely, a good workout for myself and the backhoe. Two more stumps like it are coming out as well. You too, have a great weekend!
Morning Paul. What a monster of a stump to get rid of! That’s putting the backhoe to good use. I’ve pulled out a lot of stumps with my little tractor it never anything anywhere nerd that size. You just never know what your going to get into until you start digging. That looks like a hardwood stump. Have a good weekend!
It most certainly is a big stump Brian. The backhoe has been great to use and it's also a good work out for me. I have 2 more the same size that I am taking out as well. The one in the video is an Eastern White Pine, the second one is a pine also and the 3rd one is a big spruce. You too have a good weekend!
Hi Paul, good idea to wash off the roots first I went through so many chainsaw blades without doing that. I have now stopped digging up my stumps as it's a heck of a lot of work with these small machines. I'm going to get a stump grinder and basically sweep the problem under the rug as it were.. awesome video nice use of your mobile watering station 2.0 and I do miss using my backhoe so far this season. Cheers
Thanks Ross. Washing off the roots really did help. I only used one old chain that I sharpened once. I had thought of using a stump grinder but with the massive roots above the ground surface and way too much rock I decided the backhoe and myself (hand shovel & axe) could have some fun. The stump in the video is one of three that size I am removing. You got a lot of backhoe time last season digging up your water line trench. So you know how much fun the backhoe is to use. Have a super evening!
@@JelenOutDoors oh absolutely! Using the backhoe is so much fun! Like a kid in the sandbox with the tonka truck and digger!
Good morning, Paul. That's a big stump! That will keep you busy for a while. Excellent camera work!
Good evening Rick. Most certainly a good size stump. It's one of three that size that I am removing and I enjoy every minute of it. Thanks, I will let the camera lady know. Have a wonderful evening!
Good Morning To Both Of You 👍👍👌👌😇😇 That is a massive Stump Removal Mission Task with Your OUTSTANDING Backhoe and Elbow Grease Too 😇👌👍💪Big Boulders Rocks Removal 😮 Very Nice Mobil Water Unit 😇👍Nice Chainsaw and Sawzall action 🧐👍I can see that you are a very good chain sharpener ( nice even teeth's ) 🧐👍Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING Team work with your Lovely Wife videographer Sir 👍👍😇😇👌👌Cheers 🍻🍻
Good evening Sir. Thank you kindly for all of the positive support. Yes it's a stump removal mission. The stump in the video is the 1st of 3 that size that I am removing. You too, keep up all your outstanding hard work. Take care and have a fantastic evening!
How's she goin'? That peeler attachment works great for chewing up the stumps. It sure would be nice to make sure all the small stumps and roots ore not sticking up where they could cause trouble. Thanks for sharing. Take 'er easy!!
It's going good Mike. The peeler has been a great multi-purpose tool and I enjoy using it. Lately I have been using it on some of my trails to shave down roots that are a hazard when plowing or snow blowing. Have a great evening!
That's really versatile. I would have never thought about it for those roots, I used to be plagued when I lived in Michigan with silver maples that had Roots growing everywhere. Great job.
I love this log peeler. I use it a lot when I am milling on the sawmill and for sharpening fence posts. It was a viewer (noted in the video description) who has 2 of them for shaving down roots that told me about using it for roots. I thought why not try it out on small stumps as well. The log peeler does a great job on both. Have a super evening!
Very nice. Love the pump remote. I have one of those almost identical fire grab poles that my dad made 40 years ago. We had several laying around our fire pits and wood stoves.
Thanks Tennessee Yankee. The remote is great for when the water supply runs out, I can turn the pump off quickly from where ever I am so it doesn't get damaged. It's the 1st grapole I ever had. Thanks for stopping by!
Yay
👍
Very awesome my friend stay connected 35th up
Thank you kindly. Have a great week!
Paul....I never imagined that usage! Great application! I can definitely see the advantage in reducing those smaller stumps to avoud mower blade damage!
Thanks John. The peeler has made quick work out of the smaller stumps and roots in an area that I recently cleared out. Forsure, now I can confidently use my mower to maintain the the area without the fear of damaging the blade or crankshaft. Have a great week!
Hello Paul. That works very well. It took care of those roots. I wouldn't have thought about using one for that job.Take care
The peeler has been a great chainsaw attachment that I use fairly often. A viewer had commented on one of my videos that they use it for roots so I tried it out and liked it. I thought to myself that it would be good for small stumps as well. You too, take care and have a super Sunday!
👍👍👍 Pretty handy tool Nice gloves!
Good morning and thanks. The chainsaw peeler has been a very handy tool for many different jobs. Have a super Sunday!
🚜👷🏻♂️⚠️now, that’s what I’m talking about….I could use a rig like that! I wonder is there an attachment that can go on my BX23S Kubota?
The attachment is very useful for a variety of jobs. The BX is an awesome tractor and the stump grinder attachment for it is much larger. Thanks for watching and have a super Sunday!
How you gettin’ on Paul? Mr. Garry here and I found you on Mike’s channel! YOU have a NEW FRIEND!
Going good Mr Garry. Mike is a great guy. Welcome friend!
Hi Paul, that is a great tool. Will it fit any type of chainsaw, and do you know how much they cost and where I can buy one.
Hi there. I think it will fit most gas chainsaws, not sure about electric/battery ones. They cost around $100 and Amazon, Princess Auto and others carry them. You'll need a chain 2 inches longer than what's on your chainsaw now, unless you get one that is belt driven. Also, I wouldn't put it on anything less than 50ccs. They are aggressive and need power. Have a super day!
Stump grinder! Nice one Paul. Great use of the peeler. Have a good weekend.
Thanks Mike. The peeler is doing a great job on small stumps and surface roots. Keeps the mower crankshaft and blades from getting damaged. You too, have a good weekend!
Hey Paul. That did the trick. Now you have a moother trail for walking.
It sure does Kenny. No chopping, no shoveling, just some fun with the chainsaw. Have a fantastic weekend!
